i never thought of turning the washer over , thank you for that, taking the washer off was easy i just pulled off the plastic cover and it snapped back in place, thanks again
I’m a widow been trying to get a plumber to come and fix mine for about 2 months! Can see I’m going to have to do it myself, never too late to learn!😂😂
Thanks for the video. I have push system like the one you have repaired how do I make the flush more powerful ? I have to flush at least twice every time.
Put a proper 1940's high on the wall proper reservoir/chain toilet in that actually reliably does the business! I HATE the 21st century - everything is rubbish! Don't start me on banks, music, Audi snobs, TV, ads on 300 channels all the time all with 'gers in, lying yanks killing our chocolate and making their loyal makers redundant, water extorsion/boss's plus a government hell bent on killing off pensioners/small business's while massively rewarding railway 'workers' and 'I'm not in this week' doctors in the Seychelles!
Retired plumber here. The best way to repair a push button toilet is... ...replace the whole bog with one with a syphon and a lever! The Lecico 'Atlas' range is one to try. Just make sure your plumber blanks off the hole in the syphon with an M8 stainless nut and bolt to give you the full flush every time and fit a proper metal lever if it comes with the composite aluminum and plastic one (which will otherwise break very quickly).
@ Thanks, but that should have been explained. I can imagine people trying to wrench of the lid without knowing that there may be a screw holding it down.
Could this be a fix for a toilet that may be letting air in the system. When flushing I get a loud clunk from a cold water tap and a small amount of mount pushes out. Then afterward I get a judder when opening the same cold water tap up. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
My dad has an issue with his push button that if pushed down with a little to much force the button will get stuck, does the how thing need replacing or is that an easy fix also? Great videos as always 👍🏻
Is it true the rubber in those flexi pipes tend to burst after say a number of years ? Also does that Amazon link for this washer still work I couldn't find it 😢
They can fail if they rub against something. What happens is if there's too much slack in the flexi pipe, when there's water flowing they can move about. I had this on my bathroom sink the flexi rubbed on the rod for the sink plug lifter. It started to bulge because the braid had worn and then was spraying water through a pin hole. I caught it just in time.
I've given up, having a woodburning fire I just use the next door neighbours waste bin and pour in the ashes. She told me she saw the best full moon for years the other day so I will be using the other side now😊.
I have a cistern with a spit chrome button push-button. It's very similar to the one you show. Mine is made by Duravit. My problem is that the cistern lid will not lift off. It's as if it's locked down to the body by the buttons. I watched your earlier (longer) video - unfortunately it too doesn't show how to get the lid off. What's the method of taking the lid off?
Our Syphon is knackered ( have had to put a bleach bottle top to make it work ) and the plastic shiny buttons have come loose. Is it just a case of twisting it out and replacing a new one. If I send you a photo can direct me to the correct size and syphon I need please.
I am afraid that there are many types and getting the right one is very difficult. Best to take it along to a local plumbing shop to get the correct one.
Ex mod plumber here, every single brand new push button cistern fitted in 11 accommodation blocks did this within the first year of fitting, they are absolute crap (no pun intended), wouldn't have one in my property if the manufacturers paid me.
I nominate these for the worst, most annoying ever design for a WC! Please will builders go back to a separate, high, reservoir and pull chain as in the 1940's which also, happily, actually got rid of the s^^t! That would stop my other half moaning at me daily! Or simply a hole in the floor (if you love the French).
I may be wrong but by watching carefully, I believe that you may have mistakenly put the washer back on the same way it was … wonder if anyone else spotted this.
I didn't mistakenly do it I deliberately did to see how many of you realised. You see there was nothing wrong with my flusher valve (syphon) I was just showing you what to do.
I have one of these types of toilet, the problem I have is when I push the flush button it flushes normally, but the water doesn't refill normally, it just drip fills, it does refill eventually and doesn't leak anywhere, it just takes ages to refill, what is the problem and fix for this situation?
Check your ballafix valve is fully open. check the valve float is dropping in the cistern. Check you have the right seating in the valve. check the valve is not blocked with debris.
What a terrible design ! The plastic appears to be the same dross they use in chocolate box interiors and probably lasts as long. I suspect it was designed by a £200+/hour plumber as a way to ensure their income-stream. There was nothing wrong with the old ballcock IMHO but what do I know...
I have a push button loo. I hate it. It is similar to your… it leaks. it has poor strength of flow . And, I think the button to be more unhygienic… Time to change…
I've got the rubber flap and chain version. Given me no issues yet in 14 years.
The best sort.
I want the old cisterns back! thanks again
Me too.
i never thought of turning the washer over , thank you for that, taking the washer off was easy i just pulled off the plastic cover and it snapped back in place, thanks again
You are welcome!

Good luck with it.

Not possible with there rubbish flush power. You can try raising the level of water up to the overflow pipe inside though.
Wealth of knowledge. Thank you sir!
My pleasure!

I can’t just lift off the cistern cover without removing the buttons and undoing a screw below. Is this a different model?
Yes an older one.
@ Thanks, but that should have been explained. I can imagine people trying to wrench of the lid without knowing that there may be a screw holding it down.

Unfortunately no. It will have to be replaced.
Just replaced mine easy
Each time I have replaced a cittern I have a conventional flush handle.
They very rarely go wrong and the syphon is easy to replace or repair.
Best bet.
Is it true the rubber in those flexi pipes tend to burst after say a number of years ?

So they say but I have had no problems with them. Yes the link should work I just put it up.

Oh no!
Mine only sticks when one particular button is pressed, the other button works without a problem. Not tried flipping the washer...yet.
Worth a go.

There is a hidden screw under one of the buttons.
@ Or, in my case, the outer ring unscrews. It was very tight the challenge was getting a good grip.
Yes mine is same ,a screw .
I just replaced my flush buttons as one was broke.prise born buttons out and you will see it.

@@dereton33Ok thanks, will sort it out.

Do not like them much either.
Are these washers one size fits all ????
Yes
@dereton33 cheers Al 👍👍👍
I have one of these button toilet cisterns. The parts under the cistern lid are plastic, cheap looking and not meant to last.
Thats it.

Mine has an adjustable screw for the water level, so I did that and it worked 👍
Great.

Ive got one like that and it wont flush unless i hold the button down .. could you do a video on that?? 😁🤩
Ok will do.
I've got the same problem have to hold the button down for it to work and sometimes it flushes itself.
My big problem is the top on mines just doesn't want to lift off no matter what I do to it
You have the hidden screw type on the buttons I have a video on it.
@@dereton33do you have a link to it at all
Not necessarily the most common, there are numerous different valves available, and it's not a Syphon, it's a flushing valve.
That`s me told then.
great thanks mate.👍
No problem 👍
I find that the problem is often a buildup of limescale. Shut it off and fill it up with limescale remover.
Umm sometimes. Thanks for the tip anyway.
Now days you can't get washers or replacement parts you have to buy new part
Very true.
Love it.
No problem.
It's not a syphon it's a drop valve.
What ever you like.
Hate these cisterns. You have to put your finger in to a hole where god knows what was on the fingers that went before you.
Wear gloves ha ha.
He said fix with no tools but first thing he did was turn screw to turn the water off with screw driver
Turn it off at the mains then. You must use just a little common sense.
Absolutely sure it went back on same way 😆
Spot the deliberate mistake. Ha ha.

That`s stuff today.
Just replace it
defeats the object of this video
Are we sure this video hasn’t broken any of UA-cam’s bull shit community care guidelines?
Ha ha, nice one.

I agree.
Its a Flush valve not a syphon...and there are loads of types not just 2,dont give up ur day Job
Thank you for your very kind comments.
