You mean Dan Slott of all people created those characters whose bios I read in Arkham Asylum and thought, "This character sounds cool, why does nobody use them?"
OH MY GOD YOU GUYS DID IT. I've been hoping for an episode about this book for years, and Tiffany is the PERFECT host for this one! Thank you, comic pop, for unintentionally granting my wish.
I read this comic yesterday, and I really enjoyed it. Unlike A Serious House on Serious Earth, which is haunting surrealistic horror from Batman's perspective as well as a dip into the founder's past, this is more of an exploration of Arkham through the eyes of a new inmate. And the devolution of a perfectly sane loan shark to a deranged psycho with a shark theme was fascibating as well as the introduction to new characters like Humpty Dumpty, Jane Doe, and Aaron Cash. I do think Doodlebug summoning a demon cane out of nowhere, though. And for sone reason, Ivy often has purple hair.
Me, who has played Batman: Arkham Asylum at least 20 times and who just watched Tiffany replay it recently, listening to all the characters in this story: (DiCaprio pointing meme)
One thing I find fascinating from this book is that this book is one of, if not the first, books to touch on the nature of the Mad Hatter’s crimes. Particularly the part where it’s highly hinted that he’s a r word and p-phile, but it’s not really confirmed because of just how mentally and physically messed up his Alice’s become after his “sessions.”
I always look forward to a new episode of back issues every Wednesday. This is my favorite Type of episode with the best reactions, fantastic costumes and all on my birthday!!!
My wife and I have a Batman book club and she picked this book because she thought it might be like A Serious House On Serious Earth. Needless to say it wasn't and she didn't care for this story, but I enjoyed it immensely. Great coverage of a fun supernatural book.
I remember discovering this run when that Beware the Batman cartoon started premiering on Cartoon Network. I was somewhat horrified to see characters like Doodlebug and Junkyard Dog, who were depicted as petty vandals, having such dark comic origins. That aside, sick costumes!
@@creed8712 Oh yeah, their comic counterparts are worse people (except for Humpty Dumpty... at least in this book, I don't know any other comic appearances he's made).
Tiffany looked outstanding!!! Sal made me think of a young blondish Alan Moore for some reason (lmao). Ben seemed to be real comfy, nothing wrong with that. Halloween specials from the ComicPop gang always bring a smile to my face. 10/10... will certainly rewatch again. 🎃👻👽
I just recently got into comic books after discovering this channel. This video got me to read this mini series and I really liked it. Could anyone recommend similar comics? not necessarily batman or supernatural, but I really enjoyed the storytelling and the weird quirks of the villains.
There's Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. Note that is darker than this book. Superior Foes of Spider-Man highlights lesser known Spidey villains and is a much lighter tone.
this is probably my favorite arkham story. i love this so much, i read it at my local library once and i didnt know the name, i read it several years ago lol. but this omg! thank you! i love this!
Been going through the back catalogue, love ur content! There's a few comic channels out there but I like the casual conversation style with a few jokes, laughs and gasps thrown in! Keep it up Comicpop! 🥰😁
So we got Blonde Alan Moore, The Crow, and Jack Skellington. Nice! Living Hell was one of the first trades I got early into my Batman years, along with Killing Joke and Long Halloween. Was pleasantly surprised to see this in my subscription box.
52:31 Haha 🤣!! Harvey Bullock is just so relatable as a Detective in Gotham lol 😂. Jason Blood: My money is on Arkham. Harvey Bullock: My money is on taking my lunch. *Btw, I know this wasn't said in the comic but it just is something Harvey would say haha 😂.* Also Batman being like 'If it involves magic, I'm out' haha 😂.
I read this many years ago as a teenager and I never knew it was the same Dan Slott the spiderman writer. I really love this story, another I would recomend that shares many similarities is Arkham Reborn by David Hine.
Thanks for showing that panel of White in the bus with the rogues... "What's the question mark for? Sexual identity?" I know we live in a time where people's feelings are more important than humor, but not in my world. That shit was funny af 🤣🤣🤣
I love this book!!!! I hope the new Matt Reeves Arkham show takes inspiration from this book. Also, Humpty Dumpty is one of the most disturbing villains, his issue is haunting.
I remember reading this comic a few years ago and enjoying it. It was kind of on my radar because I was curious about the characters from this who were referenced in the Arkham games. I think it’d be cool if Great White Shark appeared in more comics. I suppose he’d have a similar role to other mobster villains but I like his design.
Wasn't Humpty Dumpty in Dark Knight Rises though? EDIT: Turns out that was just some random IDENTICAL guy named Abner lol Miller sure did drop the ball there
Buy Arkham Asylum: Living Hell! amzn.to/3zntPlP
Props to Sal and Tiffany for not being scared by the photorealistic skeleton on the couch
Sal and Tiffany looking top notch in their costumes as always and Ben……is also here for a great episode.
You mean Dan Slott of all people created those characters whose bios I read in Arkham Asylum and thought, "This character sounds cool, why does nobody use them?"
"I'll tell my dad."
"I'll tell mine."
"...I'd like to see that."
"As would I."
Oh my God, how did they afford Chris Hemsworth?
They couldn't so they just turned off the lights and chanted "Salan Thoore" 3 times
It's probably Liam
@@le-grey-far-away your comment is underrated.
@@pay7232 thanks, ironically Liam is also underrated xD
Hemsworth is a huge ComicPop fan, though I think it’s really Jane Doe!? 😜
OH MY GOD YOU GUYS DID IT. I've been hoping for an episode about this book for years, and Tiffany is the PERFECT host for this one!
Thank you, comic pop, for unintentionally granting my wish.
I don’t know what’s more impressive, Sals Endgame Thor or Tiffany’s Raven
The most relatable thing in comics ever: waking up in a panic because you feel suspiciously well-rested
I'm not the biggest fan of Dan Slott's work, but I've always loved this book. Glad you're covering it.
I do think his Spider-man is great, but after Superior he sure could feel him losing his interest.
Sal as Thor is perfect. Him stealing Tiffany’s pound from Ben was hilarious

*You guys never miss with your Halloween Fits*
🔥🎃🔥
Hands down my favorite costumes you guys have done for your Halloween specials, Sal as fat Thor is amazing
I thought he was Alan Moore again
Ben's costume looks comfy as heck.
One thing I find fascinating from this book is that this book is one of, if not the first, books to touch on the nature of the Mad Hatter’s crimes. This book is surprisingly dark for how it ends which is like not that
It was also already in A Serious House on a Serious Earth I think, so not the first at the least.
Nice touch with the upper lip for Raven.
I was half expecting Sal to pull an umbrella from off screen.
46:41 I live for moments like these! The look on Tiffanys face says it all! Lmao!🤣❤️
😂
this was actually one of my first batman comics I owned! holds a special place in my heart, I ate up the weird references I didn't get as a kid
I have all six single issues of this. One of my personal favorite. A very underrated story. So glad you guys cover it!
So nice to see Skeletor, Raven, and the Dude 😎
Me: I don’t think they’ll be able to beat last years costumes on backissues
Sal Bowski: Hold my beer
I always look forward to a new episode of back issues every Wednesday. This is my favorite Type of episode with the best reactions, fantastic costumes and all on my birthday!!!
Happy Birthday!!!
I love the short moment of everyone turning into a Care Bears villain.

Is that just what that show did? Between Professor Pig and those guys
@@creed8712 Oh yeah, their comic counterparts are worse people (except for Humpty Dumpty... at least in this book, I don't know any other comic appearances he's made).
I noticed the Ultimate Warrior comic in the set and now I can’t stop staring at it 😅
Tiffany looked outstanding!!! Sal made me think of a young blondish Alan Moore for some reason (lmao). Ben seemed to be real comfy, nothing wrong with that. Halloween specials from the ComicPop gang always bring a smile to my face. 10/10... will certainly rewatch again. 🎃👻👽
Dan Slott may have some rough stories, but this one is incredibly fun

Sal, until you pulled out Mjolnir i thought your costume was Alan Moore hahaha :) then it all clicked, with the thunder i love it
I can see why you thought Alan Moore.
Another year another great Halloween ep , I love all the content you guys put out keep up the great work
Honestly Sal looks pretty badass in his Thor costume!
this is probably my favorite arkham story. i love this so much, i read it at my local library once and i didnt know the name, i read it several years ago lol. but this omg! thank you! i love this!
40:55 of course batgirl, a literal librarian, thinks the library is the key to beat a villain.
Sal cosplaying "the dude" is awesome!
Been going through the back catalogue, love ur content! There's a few comic channels out there but I like the casual conversation style with a few jokes, laughs and gasps thrown in!
Keep it up Comicpop! 🥰😁
Sal costume is gold
Salan Lebowski Odinson looking cold as hell
Bullock and Blood written by Tom King. 57:25
So we got Blonde Alan Moore, The Crow, and Jack Skellington. Nice!
Living Hell was one of the first trades I got early into my Batman years, along with Killing Joke and Long Halloween. Was pleasantly surprised to see this in my subscription box.
Getting ready to start the work day. Here comes Comic pop to make my life a little easier!
Great costumes guys! Tiffany’s Raven costume is amazing. Happy Halloween
Another year, another great Back Issues Halloween episode!
The special effects, my go...my Thor.
The costumes are incredible and the story was a perfect spooktacular episode
I love this show part 6: the curse of Back Issues Myers! great costumes all!
I love the new beard guy on the team. Alan Moore would be proud.
If ya was trynna keep the superhero theme going..Ben could lie and say he either a bad glob Herman or bad ghost rider😂
There's a "Who Let the Dogs Out" reference in this episode... In 2022 😂
This was so good! Great job gang!
I HAD this book and completely forgot about it until this episode! Now I have to see about getting it again for my Back Issues bookcase...
This was really fun! Im probably gunna pick this up.
I love that Frasier joke
With Tiff sitting in that couch she looks just like tt original series Raven legs and all lol
Fun Fact: there is a easter egg for Jane Doe in the Gotham Knights video game
Costumes are on point this year. Keep on poppin! 👍
34:25 “How’d you know that?”
“I saw the ghost of your hand!”
Oh wow, you guys got Alan Moore on back issues! 🤣
I love the artwork in this, especially on my girl Poison Ivy, it’s one of her like the top five best designs
Really loving the costumes you are wearing for this episode! In fact today is Halloween for me and other classmates in school!
Dammit! I had just finished a video about this book, now my favorite people are doing it!
Top tier content as always ! I appreciate the theming
I thought Sal was The Dude from the Big Lebowski at first.
SAME
Wait…Tiffany’s wearing a costume? I thought that was just her casual get-up? Looks great on her though.
I read this many years ago as a teenager and I never knew it was the same Dan Slott the spiderman writer. I really love this story, another I would recomend that shares many similarities is Arkham Reborn by David Hine.
Ben's outfit looks like a reverse vampire from blade. Instead of bones coming out of a body, its a body coming out of bones
Thanks for showing that panel of White in the bus with the rogues...
"What's the question mark for? Sexual identity?"
I know we live in a time where people's feelings are more important than humor, but not in my world. That shit was funny af 🤣🤣🤣
Sal as Alan Thoore
I too sometimes spontaneously laugh in Silence of the Lambs.. it's a condition.
46:44 that face ...that's probably how raven from the show feels when cyborg and bb mess around when she's reading or something
Awesome story. So refreshing and creative
I love this book!!!! I hope the new Matt Reeves Arkham show takes inspiration from this book. Also, Humpty Dumpty is one of the most disturbing villains, his issue is haunting.
Ben, Sal and Tiff might be the rarest trio in this show!
Brilliance all around
Ethan's Invisible Man costume was insane in this episode
I really thought Sal was The Big Lebowski until he pulled out the hammer.
33:53 He put the pieces together, as it were
Costumes are amazing!
Great episode again. Also the Joker could say Fish is the worst person he ever met becouse in continuity he hasn't met the Joker or the Joker yet.
On the couch is Thor , Raven , & Mr. Bones !
Nice costumes as always.
Happy Halloween! Tiffany killed it as Raven!
Yes!!! Love this story
It's become clear that Tiffany is the Constantine of the comicPOP League.
Awesome video. I’m gunna pick this up
great video as always but now i wanna see trigon vs odin
Happy Halloween y'all! I look forward to this episode every year 🎃
these costumes are fantastic!
My favorite comic characters: Raven, Sad Thor, and Starvin Skeleton
Great job on the costumes Tiff and Sal!
Wasn't Humpty Dumpty in Dark Knight Rises though?
EDIT: Turns out that was just some random IDENTICAL guy named Abner lol Miller sure did drop the ball there
I fucking love humpty dumpty. Lol how did a character ive never heard of sneak his way into my top 10 favorite dc “villian”
You all look great! Looks like a fun episode
Love the costume choice this year. Sal's Fat Thor, tiffany as raven, and ben as sans
I literally did not even realize that was Sal until he spoke 😂
Brilliant story, brilliant episode
