When on earth did Biffa pass 500k? Congrats on the milestone
Thank you :-)

Made my day to see this video!
THIS IS MY CITY!! YES!! Thank you, Biffa!
Thank you for submitting it 😁👍
You have a fun city! I enjoy your eagerness to use the mods

The "remove commercial to increase industry demand" is so counter intuitive and useful! Thank you! That's probably one of my favorite tips you've given in a while.
I can't really wrap my head around that one! Why would removing commercial increase the industry demand? Wouldn't there be less demand if there was less commercial?
it's because the commercial demand just doesn't work correctly.
you should never actually fulfill your commercial demand, just keep it around 30-50% (the blue bar)
industry demand comes from unemployment, but if people are employed in commercial buildings then there is no demand for industry. and they will just import all theit goods.
Yeah, I had one of my older town crippled by that. I honestly thought it was a bug (in some regards, it is as there's nothing telling you what's wrong in-game per say).
This is pure gold knowledge right here. Everybody take notes of that, it's extremely rare to have CS youtubers/streamers catch that one !
I agree. I have been having similar problems in my cities.
@@Francois424 , Import info view and unemployment percent gives some idea if you have issues with commercial and industrial zones. But it is a roundabout way to infer the issue.
We don't make mistakes. We have happy accidents. Especially when fixing the railways.
Biffa, when you start your next Teaport, Teaville, Tealands or however you gonna call it, get inspired by this city. I do really like the looks of those bridges all over the place. And don't forget to put a tree next to a properabout and give him a little friend.
Much love from Germany. :D
Bob Ross would approve of that comment :D
I'd love to see a city with that kind of "Above ground" theme: elevated roads, rail, walkways, and maybe an emphasis on flying public transit. Could be fun to see how much of a futuristic spin C:S can give.
@@MajorHickE If you want futuristic, definitely check out Akruas with his Aurelia build, and if you want super out-of-this-world, check out Citywokcitywall with his Mars series.
Yes! Love me some city fixes and can’t wait for your new city 😊
Yay! Thank you!
Shoutout to the fellow who made this city. The layout is quite nice to look at; they've certainly got an eye for detail when putting their cities together.
Believe it or not, it was me and I was so happy to see my city featured!
I think that train intersection thing should be called "The Triangular Train Transfer of Trepidation"
26:01 i was thinking "Whaaaaattt?? Biffa is not going to solve the trains???"
What a plot twist, guys! What a plot twist.
He never did solve the trains...?? Did I miss something?
@@larrykile3190 When he fix the number of commerces in the city, the number of trains decreased a lot, so bye bye train traffic even without touch a single rail.
@@gobasgalbes oh wow, ok. Thanks for the clarification!
@@larrykile3190 When your industry is screwed up, your trains get screwed too. Neat.
Something relaxing watching biffa vids.
Enjoy! :-)
Another small tip is if you have the "not enough goods" message everywhere, it can be down to goods not getting delivered in time. If you have the industries dlc, a nice fix for this is to place some warehouses near your commercial set to commercial goods on fill. This then means goods have less distance to travel to get to the shops requesting them. Its not perfect of course, but it does help.
youd think so, but for some reason mine constantly wants to request the goods from a warehouse the far side of the city even if there is a warehouse next door
@@bushyfromoz8834 there is a mod that makes places request goods from the nearest warehouse. don't know its name, but I remember seeing it in some videos on this channel, so it should show up in Biffa's mod list
Ah this was such a nice city to begin with! I love the more natural grown looking cities! Which I'm not surprised by, I'm European after all, it's what I'm used to (although dealing with old city centres and road infrastructure that thus can't be changed brings its own challenges irl).
I love to challenge myself with not destroying "old" city centres when I play, and to find ways to fix the traffic around it.
I'm happy you like the look, this is how I try to make all my cities look. I was inspired to build this one by biffa's T port mixed with the vibes from the American Pacific North West
@@cheezeberga I wondered if your port was inspired by the T Port in Teaport!
Something I see a lot of in these “Fix You City” videos is overuse of the lane connector tool.
I find the traffic fixes so relaxing to watch :)
Every time I see a new video from Biffa I always think about how amazing it will be when CS2 comes out and get excited! Can't wait for that.
Happy 500k Biffa! You deserve it. With love and tea, from Belgium 🇧🇪
Thanks a (half) million! :-)
Thanks for the video biffa, I also zoned more commercial than residential and was wondering why my city won't grow but now I do 😃
::watches this and realizes most of my frustration is probably due to about half my city being high density commercial::
That train asset is called a Horky borky-about sir.
I missed the part about how he got the train traffic moving. I have backed up train traffic LEAVING the city. Do I need more outside connections? Should the trains not vaporize when they hit the edge?
Edit: I downloaded the camera mod that lets you zoom into the edge and cleared up the fog and there is HALF a train and no joke says Owner: Confused LOL
Edit Edit: I deleted "Confused" and that seemed to clear things up
So, because the demand from shops was so massive, the trains couldn't keep up with it so the game just kept sending more and more trains, choking the rail network in the process. This would eventually cause the game to solve the problem by sending more and more trucks through the highways, eventually causing traffic issues...it's quite surprising how a problem most likely developed in the early stages of the city when you are starting to grow can affect so much when the city grows big. Certainly having many shops will provide you with money but it's going to choke your entire city if you are not careful.
Ahhh the man the gets us through lockdown by satisfying our OCD regarding road flow and prop placement. I love it.
This is such a great video for opaque game mechanics! I didn't know things were so interconnected like that, really hit me when solving the commercial/ industry problem also cleared up the rails.
"I just like to make things even harder for yourself, and do no despawning."
(Also use mods to make it much easier to control traffic.)
Biffa rocks!!!! 💪💪💪
I don't know how big of a difference it actually makes but running a small challenge or one-off city with Traffic Manager set for "Path of Evil" could be fun!!
Great fix again Biffa 😁
I've always found it a good idea not to mix my internal and external train lines. I usually only have 1 or 2 stations accepting external traffic, and then create a separate system for internal rail traffic. It also has the added benefits of generating income from Passenger "transfers", And can also be set up to help get cargo/goods from industrial areas to far away commercial zones, which cuts down on trucks and vans making loooong road trips.
It’s such a shame bc my city is on Xbox and I need so many problems fixing!
Why doesn’t the person that built the city have top comment on every fix my city
Love the video as always. Fun fix ... "trains broke? No worries, just delete some shops"
When you do the manual lane switching with the lane connector tool you need four nodes because people in the far lane can’t get in the inside lane
The idea was that throughout the one-way streets, they could get into the lane they needed, but his fix on the AI was what I really needed to know, I didnt realize I could do that when I got the mod.
Ideally you should only be using the lane connector tool on the highway entrances. It really doesn’t need to be used as much as people seem to use it.
Whenever you mention the "no buildings on roundabouts" rule, i think of a smallish town in my country that has the police station in the middle of a roundabout on their central road. Imagine the chaos of getting out in a hurry.
Fantastic city Cheeseburger built there. Might have had some problems, but looks absolutely beautiful.
Thank you
Thanks a lot for the tip of not having to much commercial in your city! This is something I never would have thought about! I would love to learn some more things like this one!!
Can you try to shift the number of imported goods to locally made goods? Or even that you can be exporting goods as well? Is it possible to balance a city like this?
Very interesting. My city is CHOKING on freight train traffic. Even with dedicated freight ROW, high capacity (4-lanes across) assets, and re-installing a few “transfer hubs” to reduce outside freight train access. I will be looking into this excess commercial issue, for sure.
the train mechanic in this game needs improving.
Loved this episode you where really doing what you do best and solved the problem without really addressing it lol
nice music in this video
Really like the vid. Biffa keep up the good work
None of the roundabouts where set up with TMPE. They all had lanes with dual purpose, which shouldn't be done.
I get confused sometimes. People make a lot of mistakes with traffic manager that you already pointed out many times. So it looks like they don't watch your videos, but then again they do because they are submitting there own map for city fixing by you
No ones perfect 😉
Many times "fixing" one problem can cause other problems, after a while you lose track of everything youve done and a fresh look by someone can change everything.
God damn, that city traffic gave me heart burn!
Oh man I learn something new everytime I watch one of your videos. Thank you! I have so many issues with trains. Now at least I have an idea of how to try to fix.
13th!!!!!!! That's my earliest time!!
One of the downsides of Industries DLC areas is that they satisfy demand but don't produce regular goods other than the end-of-chain special factories. The same thing can happen with "vanilla" specialized industry (and offices) but it's less common due to how many jobs the Industries DLC fills and the fact that DLC areas still function regardless of staffing level. Removing commercial zones works but it's a bit of a band-aid if your intentions are to grow. What the city really needs is more goods production. In the end, vanilla industry with both Industry 4.0 and Industrial Space Planning policies enabled, which grant a combined 255% boost in production efficiency, is the most efficient method of producing goods, especially with enough education and services to get them to level 3. The reason is that this arrangement produces a lot of goods while employing few people so you'll need to build more of them to satisfy worker demand. You'll also need a way to handle all the trucks; lots of cargo train stations with a budget of 101% is an obvious way to go.
Organic & Local Produce zoning helps, too. If going with IT Cluster for goods production, 1x1 is by far the most efficient size, and their low traffic demand means roads can be tightly packed. It might be a blight on this attractive city, but, hey, they do call it IT cluster.
Also, if you're having problems with goods supply, Small Business Enthusiast and Big Business Benefactor polices should be turned off. These policies produce practically no income when using special DLC areas, anyway.
Looks like Biffa has gotten so enamored of easy timed traffic lights recently that he's forgotten his roundabout checklist... Lol
That first highway oval-about had lane mathematics on it (always a Biffa no-no), and a bunch of roundabouts (including that one) didn't have a single dedicated exit lane for each exit.
Won't somebody, please, think of the poor roundabouts?!... 😭😭😭
One request that I have of Biffa is to communicate to the developer of Traffic Manager about my suggestion of being able to perform a quick and dirty full wipe of all of the Traffic Manager settings that city builders might have made, for when the traffic might have been screwed up so badly despite, or likely because, the player tried to spam so many convoluted Traffic Manager microfixes that, sometimes, a full reset back to a clean slate might be necessary in order to try again better. (A similar analogous problem would be when bureaucracy becomes so convoluted and labyrinthine that you feel that throwing all of that out the window would allow people to solve so many problems that plague the nation in question.)
That was such a nicely planned city. Just small tweaks and voilà. But let's be honest: the way commercial demand works is just a nightmare. It's always skyrocketing above your qualified workers' capacity to take those jobs. I personally ignore it and don't expand until I have residential demand to match it; rinse and repeat. vov
Hi there, hello from Brazil! I have just a PS4 but I bought the game because of your videos, and its been paying of! Your content is amazing for us, creators, love the work!
Great video :D I'm glad you're keeping it consistent in quality.
If I may add my two cents: that train problem can be fixed easily. I had a city of just 7k and after I turned off despawning, I got a huge train traffic jam. Following the traffic jam, I noticed that the problem was at the rail outside connection. Passenger trains were exchanging the passengers and blocking the track junction. The track between the junction at the edge of a map and map edge behaves like a train station.
Solution is simple: use Move It mod and move the node where trains can switch tracks away from the map edge so it can hold one full length of a train. This way, passenger trains can exchange the passengers without blocking the cargo trains. Cargo trains usually despawn here as some of the passenger trains - this is different to despawning due to a traffic jam like in the city itself so TM:PE doesn't affect this part of the rail. Don't move the rail junction too far from the map edge as other trains will enter the same track and block the junction.
It works for me. Let me know if it worked for you too.
Hello Biffa. I have a question. What can I do wrong? I set up a trade zone and choose the style of building. But when a building is removed or abandoned, the default style buildings are built up.
I kept waiting to see how he was going to fix the trains, he was telling us the whole time - DECREASE IMPORT. nice work!
This video was verry informative👍🏼 Loving it! Please never stop making this cool City Fixes!
I had no idea that imported goods tool existed. Going to have to jump into my city and see where I am at - I get the feeling pretty bad. I hadn't realized the commercial alerts were due to intercity production issues. TIL, thanks!
My traffic is 53 percent it was good and I did try to sort Highway and Main Road links by building the Highway over the top as a Flyover and then Slip Roads
Actually, IT clusters DO make goods. The normal offices don’t however.
The amount of trains this game produce is insane and ridiculous🤦♂️
Too many trains and ships was one thing why I gave up from this game.
I get the same satisfaction of clearing up traffic as peeling up plastic from a brand new TV. Oddly specific I know.
I think offices don't provide goods, only regular industrial. I usually tend to look that outside connections to decide what industry should I build.
In my experience, path of evil is unrealistic...
Way more than 10% are reckless drivers in real life!
To anyone. I'm thinking of buying cities skylines. Could anyone tell me what is on the base game of it. Much appreciated
Just roads, zoning, and basic needs like schools and train stations, etc. Some unique buildings too. Over time, I've gotten the DLCs and a few mods to help clean up what vanilla can't do right, such as bridge heights and squeezing things together. The mods are free, FYI. The game is worth buying!
So DLC's aren't free but mods are?
@@thomasbannon7491 DLCs aren't free, mods are free. There are bundles that go on sale that include multiple pieces of DLC.
@@dycedargselderbrother5353 thankyou so much
Drats. I came to this fid to see you fix the train network. I had an issue and the only fix I could come up with is adding a bunch of one way rails to prevent trains crossing oncoming traffic.
The moral of this episode is: you cannot rely on import to solve your economic problems. You need to have local industries to support your local needs.
The apparent lack of industry demand is only the symptom of a much deeper problem.
My current city has this same exact problem. I have trains going everywhere but there are just too many d amn trains.
I am surprised at the issues people have with trains. With one way rails vanilla, just dont cross the lines, they never jam. Also people only using one station for stuff etc doesnt help.
I don't know what the train junction asset is called, but I'd be tempted to call it "Celtic Knot Rail Turbine"
Okay, the existence of a "path of evil" setting for traffic manager is hilarious! 😆
so much industrial traffic, fix the traintracks first, then there should be less or better traffic eventually..
So much backed-up, backed-up, backed-up it sounds like bathtub, bathtub, bathtub....
pleas tart a map where you put as meny of the roads underground as possible including roundabouts
Sometimes your demand may lie to you, saying yes more commercial please, but if you look at your city statistics and it says u got 30000 commercial building but only 4000 industry producing goods, you should think of making more generic industry with goods buffer warehouses.
I want a city limited to log cabins and A-Frames, no sky scrapers...
The traffic at that cargo train station at 24:40 is going in the wrong direction. Traffic going into and coming out of the station has to cross over itself.
Eventhough you're not incorrect, in this case the completely blocked up train network probably had something to do with all those good being imported.
Commercial goods warehouses are also an easy buffer that would help.
omg i finally know why my cims ignore give way signs...
I've always adjusted my taxes to change the demand of RIC.

Hi biffa I was just wondering about dyson sphere sim? Why no episode lately? Btw cant wait for your new city
NGL, after watching your vids, i shelled out the cash for the DLC bundle with the new road/transit options on my Xbox copy just for some proper lane management.
This was the easiest train fix ever :D
You should try "Clouds & Fog Toggler" by "BloodyPenguin's" you can disable the edge fog with it. I personally love it because I want to build around the edges and you can fix the train tracks easily with it. It also can disable distance fog, clouds and smog.
to increase demand first verify the tax, if tax is high then demand will be low. reduce the tax for commercial and industry to increase the demand. That's what I observed while playing
That too 👍
Sim City 2000 with drawing still Legit.

One thing that helps me a lot when using give-way-signs is to also set the "drive through blocked crossings" for those cars that have to give way (and only those). This will (a) make them give way to the main road/roundabout, but also (b) make them enter the crossing faster when no traffic is coming from the main road. I think without the "enter blocked crossing" every car waits until the car in front of them has left the crossing, before checking that the main road is still free, but still check if the main road is free due to the give way sign.
Gonna have to get back into the game when lockdowns over and I’ve more time I’ve a city from since the game was released that I submitted a few times mostly industry traffic issues but I’m gonna try a few of the new mods you’ve been using see if it helps :)
Mods for Traffic management and roads with different lane options make a huge difference. I tried playing vanilla after playing using mods and i failed miserably, traffic would get so bad the city stopped moving.
Another way to remove some traffic pressure is reducing a bit of the oil industry production. They are massive traffic spawners. Also a lot of them was right beside eachother blocking traffic every time a truck enters or leaves them.
When the traffic, both road and railways got messed up, and RCI demands are imbalanced, Avatar Biffa sips from a cup of tea to restore the balance on any city.
That residential, commercial and industrial demands thing not giving much any good information has happened to me fair amount of times. Usually when playing with unlimited funds. I wonder if those are related somehow.
