Thanks a lot for your videos, I plan to three way my shop lights this coming week, you made it easy to understand the way to do, again thanks a lot Tyrone, Rodman
out of all the tutorials ive searched thus, You have accomplished to put the point out there and show how easy this job really can be! Thank You and God bless!
Awesome. New home owner here. Your videos have given me the confidence in which to lace some new lighting myself. Thanks my man. ;) Entertaining and educational. Well done sir.
Thanks A Million Man! I took a residential wiring course from a tech school I and could never grasp that concept but, now I can understand it...Thanks again!!! I Liked It & Subscribed and I'm sharing it on my FaceBook Account. 2 Thumbs Up !! A+++++
Nice video I love the way u showed a close up on how you wired the three way up. That really helps me out a lot. A close up so I can see actually how it’s wired
Thanks for the video. Was having a problem with a 3-way, and it was driving me crazy. Your explanation of the point screw and the 2 vs. 3 conductor wires finally put it in terms I could follow; had the light working 5 minutes later. Much appreciated, sir.
Thanks Tyrone. It's been a while since I did this and checked my TL Elec book that left out some stuff. You filled in the holes that let me relocated my switches.
Just want to take a moment to thank you. I couldn't figure out how do a three way switch if my life depend on it. After watching your video on this the night before....I got it all wired and is all working correctly as i speak. Thank you again SIR for educating everyone and especially myself.
This is the most in depth explanation of wiring a three way switch I've seen on UA-cam. You have no idea how much you've helped me. Thank you very much!
It is up to you and your individual needs. You can have a feed for each switch loop or 1 feed for all 3 switch loops. Ultimately it should depend on the load.
This video totally helped me out. Explaining the different color screws on the switch itself was key. The screws actually lined up different than most published diagrams which lead to my problems. Really great video. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for posting the schematic of how the switch works. That helped a great deal. Could you produce a video showing how one might convert a two way switch to have one switch control the light and convert the other switch to a 110 outlet.
no such thing as a 2 way switch but you can have 2 switches one controlling the light and the other the outlet. The video for single pole switches apply here.
I'm sorry maybe I was not clear. I have a hallway where the Builder installed two switches to control one light. I was wondering if there is a way to remove one of the switches so that the light is only controlled by one switch and use the power that fed the 2nd switch to feed a new 110 outlet to be installed below the switch plate location. Thanks, Steve@@Tyrone3340
cbrnews if one of the switches has the 110v feeder coming in then yes you can do what you want however there is a small chance that the feeder is not in either switch box. That is unlikely but possible.
Thank you for making this video!! I've watched a couple of others videos of guys explaining this process, but your way of explaining and showing the wiring breakdown is the best I've seen. Keep it up!
thank you so much for your explanations! They truly are helpful. My 3-way switch system is a little bit different. My power is coming into a box that is between the light and another three-way switch. Could you help me understand how to wire it that way.
there are many different ways to wire a 3 way switch loop i just showed you guys one of the most common ways to wire the loop, without seeing what you have it is difficult to determine what you have sorry :-(
Thank you. Your explanations and drawings are excellent. When this wiring method is used, looks like both switches have exactly the same wiring configuration. So am I correct to assume that if one needs to replace one of the switches, it's not important to know whether this is the switch with the 2 wire Romex connected to the electric panel or to the light? Thanks again for your outstanding video.
+Alex S If you replace a switch you could wire it the way the old switch was wired, providing that everything was in good working order before the switch failed that you intend to replace.
I have an older house which has multiple 3 way and 4 way switches. I was having wall and ceiling work done and the contractor removed most of switches and lights. it is easy to figure out where the lights go (on the ceiling) but I am trying to figure out which wires feed the lights. What is the best way to do that? Do I attach a simple light fixture and try to work the switches with a multimeter? What would I look for? For example on one floor I have six switches (2 3ways 1 4 way and 1 single pole, 1 3 way to a different room and single pole to a closet and a kitchen all operating out of the same room. Power does not come from the main light. I know where the power comes in at just trying to identify the wires at the end of the run. to the light
Thank you very much for your excellent demonstration. I hope you continue to show others more of your electrical experpertises.

Excellent teaching lesson. Wish I found you sooner. Thanks again.
This was one of the well explained tutorial on the YT, thanks man. Don't stress about the drawing, it was more than good enough.
Thanks KA and you are welcome
Thank You for the lower print. It really helped me understand what you were talking about.
You are an excellent teacher. Really appreciate your channel.
Thanks Kelly and you are welcome
I love your videos. The only guy who makes it simple. Nice work.
Thanks david
Thanks much Tyrone … Your schematic was a great help in understanding the three way switch!!!!

I'm a first year and having trouble with three ways but you broke it down in a way that i finally had that ah ha moment.
thanks Tyrone
no problem Kyle
Very good explanation of how a 3way switch works, it's neat how he demonstrates eveything on the wood he used for the video.
thanks Joe
Your diagrams are very helpful. Thank you.

Mr Robertson thank you this was what i was interested in ,love the diagram ,great job ,easy to understand ,thank you big time...
You are welcome
Great explanation, man. Not sure why it's so hard to comprehend without the visuals. It's really pretty simple.
Once again, you were a big help, thank you. And that was a good tip about turning your head away when flipping a breaker, I'll put that tip to use.
you are welcome
Excellent video
Exelent video very helpful thank you

Can you do a video on wiring switches for a bathroom or kitchen with 3 switches, each switch controlling different lights. I love the vids. Great job
I've looked up many different explainations of 3 ways and how they opperate, but yours is the best ive seen so far! Great job.
You are welcome Mario

Great video! Wish you could have recorded you wiring the switches
Helps me more like your single pole vid
Thank you for making this video!!

Great explanation of the three way switch. Would a four way operate on the same principle? Keep up the good work. You're teaching me a lot. Thanks

Tyrone, do you have any diagrams or videos on installing a 3 way when your power source and your light is at the same end of the circuit?
I figured that would be the way but would the power come from one source?

Galax it is called a 4way because it has 4 terminals
yes I can do that but it is the same for a single setup you are just doing it 3 times. But I will do the video for you.
Hi Tyrone can I tap into an outlet and use that as my power source and make it a 3 way switch for new light source?
Yes
Hi Tyrone can I do one dimmer switch and the other just normal on off switch?
Yes as long as both are 3 way switches
14 3 romex cable we need if 3 way switch?
No but if you email me I can draw it for you.
why its called 4 way switch
Thank you very much for your excellent demonstration. I hope you continue to show others more of your electrical experpertises.
