- In this video I am going to show you how to split a beehive into two beehives. Really exited to do that for the first time. sorry if I make any mistakes I am still new beekeeper and never when to stop learning.

Iris is correct. I have purple ones in my yard. I am have been wanting to start some beehives for a long time. I am in the city. Where can I learn more? A book, website videos etc?

Those plants are irises, they bloom once a year usually in late spring or summer. They also multiply really fast each year.

Hey I always have wanted to know are all the bees besides the queen male bees or are some of them females as well
Tman007 show there are also female bees (beside the queen)
Over 90 % of the bees are female - the workers. Few drones (male) only breed with queen. They are kicked out in the fall.
They are all girls ;) Couple drones (for every 100 worker bees, girls, there are maybe 5 drones, boys)
Queen bees are female - biggest
Drones are males - smaller than queen
Workers are females - smaller than drones
Nurse bees are females - smallest.
Most of the time drones make up like 5 per 100 worker bees but I've open a hive that had lots and lots of drones and drones cells.
Drones from other hives mate with the queen to make females bees
Drones from the same hive mate with the same queen make male bees.

Taras you should invest in something called a flow hive. It is a hive which allows you to extract honey easily without disturbing the bees. It has good reviews and i think it might be beneficial to you and your bee keeping.

Flowhive is for greedy beekeepers, keep bee health in mind more than you do honey! Let them build natural combe without foundation for better bee health.
