    Very informative. My girlfriend and I are just bought a vacant block of land in Australia, Queensland. After we build on it, one of the first things that we want to do is to start some beehives up and running. At this stage I am just learning about bees. I would like to learn as much information as possible about beekeeping before I start doing it. It was always my dream since I was about 10. It is good to see videos like this on internet to learn new things. Thank you very much for your great videos. It is really helpful.

    • @sarchlalaith8836
      @sarchlalaith8836 6 років тому +1

      You use the smoker to make the bees leabe the frame so they are safe, then you cut off the white wax cap with a long sharp knife. Then you put the comb into a centrifuge, a spinning around wheel basically, and that forces all the honey to move with the artificial gravity of the spinning wheel so it all goes onto the side walls of the wheel, then you let it drain down through a tap type device on the bottom :)

    Your hives look beautiful and healthy Taras, congratulations. I have only two hives in the city of Toronto, they both survived the winter but I discovered that one had lost their queen :(. It had a mite issue last summer but I guess the treatment left it weakened. I had to transfer the healthy bees into the strong hive, and will need to purchase a nuc with a new queen to bring the second hive back to life. Here the new queens are available this month, and one local breeder has very strong queens and more docile bees, the affected hive were very temperamental and aggressive last summer, i suspect because they were aware of the queen being compromised. I hope mine will be looking as good as yours before too long. Thanks for sharing your bee adventure, these are helpful videos to other novice bee keepers like me.

    Taras, they built that bur comb on top because you're leaving all that empty space above the frames. Put your lid on the hives without an empty frame above the frames when you aren't feeding. You are going to get honey long before the end of summer. You'll be surprised at how much they'll make if you put honey supers on the top. The nectar flow has started!

      HAMMERonUA-cam bees use water to keep the hive cool. and they can fan their wings also to help keep it cool. it's called fanning they also do this when they swarm so the other bees can smell the other bees so they know where the rest of the swarm is. it smells like lemons to me!
