Nice all goodies... I am a scarve and belt hoarder... But those are good items. I have really started to focus on larger new in BOX items. Just in the last 3 days... AT&T modem, brand new $75.00, Revo hairstyle - international at $99.00, Car Bra- BMW- $65.00, and a new in the box profressional paint brush cleaner. $65.00. I love new in box. Scope your stores some have specialty areas that other's don't.

And I'm sure the buyer was honest and cut Goodwill in on a portion of the proceeds. The money is for the homeless and handicapped, of course.

    • @susangarcia6233
      @susangarcia6233 6 років тому +2

The homeless and handicapped need to WORK more. That would solve all their income and financial problems. WORK is, after all, helping your neighbors and community, too, because WORK is something that these people need done for them and they are willing to pay for.
Anyone who is homeless should definitely be WORKING 7 days a week (like I have done) and at least 100 hours a week (like I have done). If they will, they won't be homeless for very long.

my top 12 items to look for too, just wanted to add.. wallets or coin purses-at my goodwill they're $1.00 and I resale those real good, depending on brand, and they usually put those in a corner where nobody likes to search, I've found a couple of coach, juicy couture. Also, baskets.. I pay anywhere from 25¢-$2.00,i got a couple of Longaberg, which I flipped for $20

Depends on the area..my Goodwill is very high priced..I can actually get many items at (ugh) Walmart brand new for cheaper. Especially clothes. The only time you can get anything really cheap is when it's stuff that's been sitting around for a long time and it's on a big mark down just to get rid of it. As far as nice vintage linens..not a chance. People up here know how valuable they can be and will sell them through consignment or online. Second hand stores aren't very cheap in my neck of the woods!

I am just getting into selling stuff online. I started with a bunch of my own stuff I didn’t need or want anymore and have made $50 so far but I had the thought to save $50 to $100 out of my upcoming paycheck and visit some of the local thrift stores for stuff to sell. I knew about nice clothes to resell but your post really gave me a lot more to be on the lookout for. I was also thinking maybe fancy clothes like the prom/wedding bridesmaid dresses you can sometimes find for cheap at thrift stores; they might be good to resell especially during the months right before the high schools’ big dances. I’ve also heard that vintage bunt cake tins are a good item to look for to resell, too, and picture frames. I can’t wait to actually get started with my new business venture. Your post was a lot of help, thank you!

I am in the UK, and the market for used items is very different. Car Boots, , yes, charity shops yes, garage sales once a year if you are lucky we do have jumble sales, you would probably call table top sales. So places to buy and sell direct can be different, but wherever it is the same routine, take time check, turn items over, and don't get excited in front of the vendor. I happen to like electrical items and am happy for things that I am told do not work - they mostly do when I check them over. I aim to flip things so my customers are paying in bank notes/dollar bills. There is a lot to be made and fun to be had flipping things. I always get a kick out of things that would have been bought for a $1,000 and sold by the vendor for $10 or even $1. Hardly anywhere is open now post Covid, though we have been allowed to have sales for over a month now. There must be a lot of people who have cleaned out their homes and now have piles of material to move on.
    Keep Safe and Keep well.

My daughter & I occasionally shop at Goodwill and find AMAZING DEALS! I know they claim to be a charity and barely qualify, and their CEO makes an obseen amount of money from donated goods. I look at them like any other store, that sells goods for a profit, not a charity.
My girl found several dresses as low as $3.99 for formal & other school dances, band concerts, weddings and even a $15 prom dress! She found a like new Wilson's leather dress jacket for $15. Two years ago, she outgrew all her pants before the new school year and money was tight from medical bills; she found 7 pairs of NWT or like new pants, several tops, a sweater, a pair of dress shoes, and a NWT brand name body shaper, and a few other items, ALL for under $100. I was relieved and grateful, and she was proud of finding so many deals herself, a great life skill. I should shop there more often, it sure beats driving around to numerous garage sales, and Goodwill has changing rooms and is air conditioned.

Vera Carson - I used to sell a lot of mugs. It's my 1st stop at gw. But mugs aren't selling as well or for as much anymore for me. Shipping is about $9 and I charge for shipping. I keep all the Starbucks for my cupboard.

amber petals i have lots of cute mugs and some pretty ones too that are from makers like Pier 1, 222 Fifth, Papel, Pfaltzgraff and more. They are just not quick sellers or a bread and butter product. Maybe once upon a time though.

Right now in the United States people have eBay flooded with plenty of mugs ties name it they have it, it's very difficult and the competition is very heavy unless you have something very exceptional. It's like a glorified yard sale on eBay that's why I stopped selling on eBay. However I do occasionally purchase from eBay for my personal use.

I eventually creamed out a couple for my use and re-gifted my old stock to the local discovery shop, ALWAYS SHOP the local charity shops first before you hit goodwill, Our salvation army is not close but the only one to actually do pick ups if you have enough, Good will does NOT do pick ups and will pass along anything which is most of what gets donated, to other resources or tosses it. Every hit the garbage bin in back of a goodwill? eye opening

Here's where you can get GOOD stuff in good shape to "flip" online: You should try the RECYLCE BINS OF THE RICHEST PEOPLE LIVING IN THE MOST EXPENSIVE AREA NEAR WHERE YOU LIVE. Please don't trespass on their property.(P.S. never take any furniture put out near the recycle bins unless you found it in an EXPENSIVE neighbourhood where they don't likely have bedbugs.Furniture put out near the recycle bins in poor neighbourhoods often have bedbugs).

I worked for Goodwill as a social worker case manager for their group homes. There was a couple who had been homeless and it just got in an apartment and needed a bed. They asked the woman if she could take $10 off the price and you would have thought they asked for half off a mink coat! I just happened to be in the store browsing and she was such a bitch that I reported her and I didn't see her again. They are there to help people as well as make money and that couple needed a bed!

Try the 99 cent Goodwill store. You can buy things there and sell them in the yard sale and make money sometimes. I bought a Canon EOS Rebel 10.1 megapixel digital camera worth over a hundred bucks, for $0.99. That is not just a one-time find. I almost always leave the store with one item that's worth twice what I paid for all the items.

Thrifty Treasures ..... I like to tinker with stuff myself. I bought a 1980 something printer one day. I thought it would make a cool case for something. I have a local thrift store that just gives me electronic stuff. After stopping there and the 99 cent store the other day I came home with, 10 computer monitors, a vintage stereo, two printers, a whole lot of cables, a Dell laptop bag, a DVD VCR combo, and a box of Christmas cards. I spent fifteen bucks that day.

I know exactly where that one's at. The one in Hendersonville has been a hit-and-miss proposition lately. I did get a 99 cent 19 inch flat screen TV the other day that actually works.

Last week I was in GW and they brought out the cart with items well ppl just swarm to them, well I got there at 9am when they opened & got this great deal on some headphones for $2.99 with the case & 2 different plugs, I tried it out on my iPhone 6 and it worked perfect, Looked it up online when I got home & new price was selling at $99.00 the reason I bought it is my ole Bose headphone I use on my Mac laptop the ear pads are getting really bad and i bought those nEW a few years back for $200.00 I'm trying to find replacement pads for the Bose headphones, love them & I just hate to trash them because of the ear pads.

Our goodwills don’t have jewelry, they sell it online, and anything worth selling online they sell online, there still some good clothes, but nothing that would do well online, I buy during the .90cent sells, and have made some profit that way, the best thing to flip here is formal dresses, they sell for $5, and they can sell quick on marketplace for a lot more.
