Thrift stores are amazing, it’s even better if the money you thrift for is going to a good cause (a lot of them over here is run by the Red Cross or UNICEF, which I enjoy a lot as a costume designer, good way to get fabric without breaking the bank and doing a good cause at the same time, I destroy and recreate)
The hate isn’t to the thrift store, it’s for the people because the goodwill is originally made for homeless people and people that don’t have a lot of money and then people that have a good amount of cash go there, you should really save it for the poor.

I work in the warehouse/sorting at Goodwill, please wash all the clothes before putting them on or putting them in your drawer with the other clean clothes. there are soo many good clothes at Goodwill but sanitation is 100% you're job as they don't clean anything before you get it. happy thrifting 🙂

I’m not sure where you got this information, but it’s wrong. Goodwill washes every piece of clothing before going out on the floor. They have a contract with a laundry service that comes out and takes batches to be washed at a near by industrial laundry mat. Regardless, it’s always a good idea to wash ANYTHING you buy in a department store because people have tried it on. Goodwill DOES NOT just get clothes from random people and hang them up, though.

Trifting is the only way I can get furniture and many other items. Its for those who can't afford bying things new and at higher prices. Trift stores and chains have already started to price items way higher unless its a store where the private seller (= not the store owner) dictates the price.
