Nearly identical phones, only thing is my S22 Ultra doesn't always get me through a day, battery is quite bad after 2.5 years. I got a trade in deal through Samsung, paid $665 CAD to trade-in for the S24 Ultra, battery life is night and day better.

Absolutelty!! I think harsh economics dictates that - i.e. very minimalistic (relatively speaking) upgrades, more gimmick like in order to keep up with also same price (during inflation/recession times) - that makes every sense to go 'small improvements' for fairy "same price' while dollars loose value.. Makes at least sense to me.. so I'm waiting at minimum to go from S22U to 25, but more realistically speaking to S26U or even 27,... will see. If can afford, of course, I'd go probably with S24U to start with than with used S22U - this is what is 'presale' and long relation with company like Verizon comes with for great deals.
i'm thinking this is so true. last week I upgraded my Samsung and for sure they messed up my battery and my camera. a 1 year phone doesn't get through the day anymore. and camera, my BQ did better and was 300 euros less xD for sure Samsung is messing up with their clients. it's my first time having a Samsung, a miserable A54 and I'm already pissed xD Never spent so much money on a phone, I'm really angry. I would love to have a S22ultra upgrade but... if battery is also bad.... T_T not sure it's worth it anymore
When I first got my note 5 was a life changing experience as a college student. Now I was looking for the “same kind of experience” and I won’t find it getting the s24. I’ll keep my S22 for one more generation.
Do you still have your Note 5? My favorite wow phone was the Note 9. I was using that phone for years! Now I'm just dissatisfied with Samsung intentionally omitting features I definitely still use. So much innovation in the earlier Note phones. The S22 you have should go much longer than one more generation. Who knows what Samsung will do next. Move storage to the cloud as a subscription pay service?
@@Starry_Night_Sky7455 I know right. I hope this AI features is not the best they offer for the next generations. No, I just kept my note 8. I still like it, but it's super slow. I'll probably get the fold, but I need something that makes the upgrade worthy.
For me I'd say the S22 is better because it actually has a 100x zoom camera so the image quality is a LOT better at high zoom. The S22 has a design that I would personal prefer. Also old asf phone (2015-2018) still work fine even on Android 8. Android support is better than you might think. I'll probably will be waiting until the S26 or 27 comes out and get a S22 Ultra (Yes it will still work fine even with an outdated OS)
Have my S22U for the past year, it's awesome. Won't be changing it for a few years. I had my Note10+ 5G 512Gb for over 4 years, until I water damaged it, otherwise I'd still have that one.
Thanks for this video! I have been waiting for it because that's what I did, I went from the the S22 Ultra to the S24 Ultra . I upgraded because I was tired of replacing the screen protector , it kept shattering and it was really hard to remove and replace because of the curve screen. Also I wanted the 7 years of updates and the speakers were not too loud , meaning they didn't have bass it was more like it sounded flat. The S22 Ultra gets warm not like hot but that chip is first generation and it is not power efficient and runs warm when you do certain tasks. Other than that the S22 Ultra is a good smartphone. But I really love the S24 Ultra. ❤😊 Thank you for the excellent video.
Just got my s22 ultra yesterday afternoon for $220. I love this phone. I'll stock with it for few years. That is if I can manage not to break this one.
I was all ready to upgrade to the S24U, and now I'm so glad I waited. But since I like buying the even-numbered device I'm gonna have to wait for the S26U.
Agreed, standby time on S22U and has become better with the One UI 6.1 while the SOT maybe slightly better. I don't own S24U yet but I'm looking forward to buy one once they get cheaper in a year or so. The main reason is that flat display (drawing with the S-Pen on a curved display since the Note 8 wasn't really smart idea, Samsung with the pen slipping off the edges driving crazy) and picture quality. While there's really not much of a difference between the two, S24U has less of that oversharpening going on giving pictures a bit more natural look.
You should run Geekbench again on the S22U, since it looks like you're looking at results from history, as since One UI 6.1, mine scored 1800+ single core and 3800+ multiple. And it does perform better since the update.

like 10 years ago every new generation smartphone would be a big step up and very noticably better on every aspect. now the changes are so minimal you have to really look for it. i guess we just reached a point of technology where it's hard to improve
Idk why you don't have any S21+ videos? They are so darn cheap on eBay, a brand new one $313 mint condition is 270 heck that phone still has 2.& Half years of software support insane value IMO
I went ahead and upgraded from the s22 ultra to the s24 ultra. I had the s23 regular not impressed work phone. I did notice the s22 ultra after having for 2 years there is screen burn from UA-cam shorts.
All your videos are excellent but please, change your sound test music!! I always turn my volume off during that time. Anyway, where did you get your anime wallpapers??
that remote control form factor is the reason i still use iphones. They are not comfortable, i couldn't write messages comfortably on s20 as well. Iphones are wider and not that tall.
I recently upgraded from the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and I am very pleased with my decision. While the S21 Ultra is undoubtedly a remarkable device, the S24 Ultra offers several significant improvements that make it an even more compelling choice. The S24 Ultra boasts impressive AI features that enhance the user experience. The camera quality has been significantly upgraded, resulting in stunning photographs and videos. Additionally, the extended seven-year update policy ensures that the device will remain secure and up-to-date for an extended period. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and consider it to be the most exceptional phone I have ever owned. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a powerful and feature-rich smartphone.
I'm moving from S22 U 256GB tot S24 1TB , i need more space and i want the flat screen... hope i will like it more and will keep it for at least 2 years
The difference that stands out is the 22 only comes with 4yrs software support were the 24 comes with 7yrs so I guess that is something worth considering if you are purchasing today....
There's a noticeable difference in camera but S22 Ultra still looks amazing. It just had more vibrant, sharpening color while S24 Ultra has more of natural colors like we see on Pixel and iPhone. Thank you for the review because I am thinking of getting S22U to save few bucks but still future-proof
Only trading my s22u in for the s24 because ive got an annoying random black screen of death. My s21u died the same way. Was told the motherboard was damaged, new display didnt fix the issue.
I've still been running my Note 9 up until the screen became unusable from a drop. Now I'm picking up a used S22 Ultra for a fraction of the price with a few years of updates left in it.
I had the s21 ultra having it upgraded to the s24 ultra is a big difference I see in camera how better it is I see more detail in 30× zoom than I can in s21 ultra the battrey last better compared to my old s21 ultra and proformance wise way better and also you get a nice little pen built In which I always use constantly
I bought my S22 ultra refurbished last year for $750. It's been great, and will be waiting until late 2026 to upgrade God willing. Hopefully, the wait will be worth it.
Upgraded due to necessity from s22 u to 24 u. The s22 has given up. Crashing, restarting becoming unusable. Clearing cache, factory reset and flashing OS. Nothing worked. I can't even shut it off. It'll start and loop again until the battery is drained. This as I searched the internet is a relatively common issue. Probably stemming from Mainboard issues What I really like about the s24 is the Snapdragon. It's the more mature platform. Better supported and optimised. TSMC foundry. (The issues with s22 might come from issues in the Samsung foundry with adapting the 4nm process). The phone has far better battery life compared to s22, especially during light use and standby. The cooling solution is also much better. The CPU doesn't run as hot as Exynos 2200. Another thing that barely gets mentioned but might be important for a lot of people - no curved screen. It is harder to damage.the curved edges have always been espoxes and vulnerable. And most important. You can apply a glass screen protector without UV Glue, or stupid cut out, without having to worry about the fingerprint sensor. I had an tpu protector applied. But these are not as protective - but still do the job. The issue I had with those is peeling on the edges and the feel of the SPen on them. Grippy and uneven resistance. And - a little thing for me. Much more cases are available with individual camera cutouts (and magsafe magnets) Really hated the p shaped cuttout most cases for s22u had. The s22u was a good phone. I was happy with it and would've used it some more years. The s24 is more refined and cured all the little issues I had with the s22u. It doesn't anything new and fancy for me. But it does everything right. No issues. No negatives. It is an android phone in perfection. This is exactly what I want from a universal tool I use every day. I stopped seeing phones as gadgets but rather prosthesis, that extends my capabilities. Knowledge. Recording. Decision making. Communication. Orientation. Entertainment. And it does so without hiccups or bottlenecks. Optimally.
@bananaboy2012 He must have a defective model. I'm typing this on the S22U. Apart from the battery I couldn't be happier. My old phone was a piece of 💩 in comparison
I purchased a s22 ultra on November 20 2022 and the display got messed up on January of 2024. I was contemplating on whether I should purchase a new display for the s22 ultra or purchase the s24 ultra.
It was time for me to upgrade and I had an s22 ultra, I switched to the iPhone 15 pro max because to me it would have been paying for the same phone just a little upgrade here and there also my phones since the s8 had overheating problems the when from my s8, s10 and s22 ultra
We've come to the point where 98% of average users can't tell the difference through daily use. Keep in mind it's a UA-camrs job to notice nuisance and subtle difference. Save your money and get a refurbished 22ultra with a new battery and thank me later.
Never buy a refurbished phone, they dont seal right when put back together, the battery is probably not oem, the cameras might not work right because the lenses dont line up now, the heat sink might not keep the phone cool because it isnt contacting right, the issues are never ending. I know from experience.
Sticking to my S22U. I still wonder why they downgraded the front camera on the others. I never had issues witht he screen guard. Have one since feb i think. Just the issue is fingerprint doesn't work. I am fine with not having Slo-Mo and that Broadcast one.
Rounded corners look better. The s24 having a flat panel is preferred, but the rectangular sharp look of the panel is ugly/dated looking. the s23 was a good sweet spot of what I’m talking about. S22 looks good too. Not so round like iPhone round but you get what I’m saying now
Am i the only one that likes the 22 camera more than the 24? The sign was easier to read and the pics had more color, more vivid. Lmk if I'm tripping. I been wanting the 24 ultra I've got the 22ultra.. my gf just got the 24 and i was disappointed honestly.. hopefully the 25 will b a bigger improvement.. maybe they can only go so far with these phones now lol i just remember improvement was way more significant a few years ago.
the biggest upgrade is that they finally moved the microphone to the top instead of the bottom. so many times i had a ruined video because my hand was covering the microphone
S22 u looks unique thanks to the curved display s24 u front is the same as rest. I really wanna upgrade but the s24 u flat display is a deal breaker for me. They should have either made 2 variants of s24 or brought back the note series which supports curved display. I don't understand how ppl get accidental touches. I never gave this issues
I know fortnite isn't a legit game on mobile due to it being an external source app but it really makes the s24 heavily overheating while playing it so I think I'll wait for the s25 ultra and see if their FPS gaming boost mode worth the upgrade
@@tlogwood5022 No it's for sure a problem with the S22 ultra. Samsung will act like they don't know but it's probably to avoid a recall. After the 6.1 update mine would get service for like 5 minutes at a time and then go to SOS mode.

S24 will just last a bit longer for future-proof when it comes to caming. Even the pixel 9 pro can play all the games out as of now. But in a few years, it will start to be able to handle them on low settings.
I did checked 24U the phone is no doubt very snappy and smooth but for me the upgrade is worthless i would wait for s26U if that bring huge improvement or else my s22U is okay for few years
I was looking for the "advanced intelligence" settings on my S22 Ultra, but I don't see it. The advanced features list start with Labs, S pen etc. Where can I find it?
I used to use S22U Green and S23U Graphite now i use S24U Titanium Grey and iPhone, but i really regret and now try to sell my S24U to get back my S22U but the burgundy one. I missed the curve and edge screen.
I was looking at the trade-in deals on samsung, and they would give me $700 trade in value. Just didn't seem like a good deal at all. If they gave me $850 i would of jumped on the deal.
I've got s22 ultra but with exynos and It's not so bad but thinking to either wait for s25 from January or shall move on buying s24 ultra ? It's a debate.... 😊

never had accidental touch issues with curved display but the screen protector issue yeah lil bit true. its kinda funny flagships are getting flat and mid rangers have curved screen as feature
I had that issue alot
Nearly identical phones, only thing is my S22 Ultra doesn't always get me through a day, battery is quite bad after 2.5 years. I got a trade in deal through Samsung, paid $665 CAD to trade-in for the S24 Ultra, battery life is night and day better.
Is your phone US addition or Europe??
@@sabishere945 Canadian version, with Snapdragon Gen 1
I think we've gotten used to it so much that we don't pay attention to it anymore but bro this man can play 2 games at the same time🔥🔥I try to do it with you like watch both the screens at the same time but I just can't. I don't know how you do it man. That's impressive to me
I think all phone brands make the cameras slightly worse with time to convince you that the upgrade is worth it..
No, not at all.
i'm thinking this is so true. last week I upgraded my Samsung and for sure they messed up my battery and my camera. a 1 year phone doesn't get through the day anymore. and camera, my BQ did better and was 300 euros less xD for sure Samsung is messing up with their clients. it's my first time having a Samsung, a miserable A54 and I'm already pissed xD Never spent so much money on a phone, I'm really angry.
Only in samsung phones you need yo upgrade every year or 2 ...iphones will never slow down your system with software upgrades like Android does
Have my S22U for the past year, it's awesome. Won't be changing it for a few years. I had my Note10+ 5G 512Gb for over 4 years, until I water damaged it, otherwise I'd still have that one.
s22u took better pictures😂
My samsung 10 note take better pics than my S23 ultra
Use a volume booster on the s22 ultra.. it works for me
@@myklallen7184 please explain, cause y don't know.
@myklallen7184 I finally understood. I have the S24 Ultra, but I got a booster and this is insane. Thank you man for the suggestion. 👋😃
@pedromarrero You're Welcome 😊
I upgraded from my s10+ to s24U. Thats definitely worth.
No, s24 is trash the s22 has better camera
I'm still chilling on my S22 ultra from two yrs ago. I'm not upgrading until samsung introduces a significant upgrade and features 🤷🏽
dont see that much of significant difference in photo quality to pay double the price
Wait
S22 ultra got the Galaxy AI too...then what's the point of "upgrading"?
Exactly
8gen1 and 2200 had real powerfull gpu and cpu and npu
I don't see anything significant that makes me upgrade my s22 ultra 😏
Bro made the video I was looking for 🗣🔥🔥🔥
Glad I could help
You should run Geekbench again on the S22U, since it looks like you're looking at results from history, as since One UI 6.1, mine scored 1800+ single core and 3800+ multiple. And it does perform better since the update.
Mine scored 1600 single and 4060 multiple ( Exynos 2200 version )

S24u has anti-glare display...
The S22 ultra pictures look more clear ???
Can you make a video comparison between the S22 ultra vs S23 ultra ?
Great video but I'm still struggling to make a decision. I currently have a Note 20 ultra 5g that's starting to show its age. I absolutely hate changing phones. I'm trying to decide I'm gonna buy a refurbished s22 ultra or reup with AT&T for a s24 ultra.
go for the s22 ultra all the way!!!! youll save lots of money!!!1 its so worth it
like 10 years ago every new generation smartphone would be a big step up and very noticably better on every aspect. now the changes are so minimal you have to really look for it. i guess we just reached a point of technology where it's hard to improve
Idk why you don't have any S21+ videos? They are so darn cheap on eBay, a brand new one $313 mint condition is 270 heck that phone still has 2.& Half years of software support insane value IMO
Because they were garbage when they came out...zoom not great and NO FREE S PEN with Bluetooth. And no place on the phone to put S Pen
Have a ton of them.
I actually meant to say S22+ 😂 my bad, bro.
I'm using an A53😂😂 and have zero complaints. The tech is way more powerful than we know how to use.
that remote control form factor is the reason i still use iphones. They are not comfortable, i couldn't write messages comfortably on s20 as well. Iphones are wider and not that tall.
Flat screen was my choice i was on s21 ultra
Without watching the video, i'm just here to tell having been using both the device, S24U or even S23U is a huge upgrade to the S22U.
Your the hero we dont deserve but definatly need
I bought a refurbished s22 ultra but the battery is very lack luster for my standards, i am thinking about trading in for the s24 ultra idk.
i wouldve bought s22ultra but speakers are weak
What I can see is s22ulta cameras are really good . In some cases the pictures seem better😊
I thought i was the only one thinking that S22u pics are better.
I am going to wait till prices come down, and.... I too want to see the S25U, maybe this time I don't "NEED" to upgrade
I've still been running my Note 9 up until the screen became unusable from a drop. Now I'm picking up a used S22 Ultra for a fraction of the price with a few years of updates left in it.
More sense than money. Smart.
7:49 happens alot in Europe lately
No way u can find 22ultra refurbished or open box for less than 600
Upgraded due to necessity from s22 u to 24 u.
The s22 has given up. Crashing, restarting becoming unusable. Clearing cache, factory reset and flashing OS. Nothing worked. I can't even shut it off. It'll start and loop again until the battery is drained.
This as I searched the internet is a relatively common issue. Probably stemming from Mainboard issues
What I really like about the s24 is the Snapdragon.
Optimally.
What model do you have? I have the exynos and it does get sluggish at times but a restart fixes everything
so you're telling me that a flagship from two years ago just gave up now? that seems kinda concerning
@bananaboy2012 He must have a defective model. I'm typing this on the S22U. Apart from the battery I couldn't be happier. My old phone was a piece of 💩 in comparison
Mine doesn't have issues with guard so far. Have smthis since February i think. Maybe it was your device issue?
I purchased a s22 ultra on November 20 2022 and the display got messed up on January of 2024. I was contemplating on whether I should purchase a new display for the s22 ultra or purchase the s24 ultra.
Matthew can you please include haptics on your review comparison 🙏
Nope
Not so round like iPhone round but you get what I’m saying now
Ufs 3.1 vs 4.0, totally worth it. Selfie is better on s22u though
Only getting the S24 Ultra coming from the base s22 for more years of software and a slightly more robust camera system
Appreciate this video bro. Contemplating about upgrading after 2 years if it's worth it.
the biggest upgrade is that they finally moved the microphone to the top instead of the bottom. so many times i had a ruined video because my hand was covering the microphone
The only reason I may go for this is because my S22 Ultra no longer recognizes any network after an update. May ill switch to a different brand.
You too huh. Was waiting for s25U instead but it's getting annoying losing signal out of nowhere
@@KoiiiKoiii I think it's done purposely because it was working fine till the last update
Could you please compare Galaxy S23 ultra as well?
I know fortnite isn't a legit game on mobile due to it being an external source app but it really makes the s24 heavily overheating while playing it so I think I'll wait for the s25 ultra and see if their FPS gaming boost mode worth the upgrade
My s22 ultra started randomly dropping service and lots of other people have the issue and samsung has no answer
Mine is feeling slower
Mine also recently started dropping service!
Mine too, have a refurbished one now as a replacement. I thought I was the only one with the signal issues.
@@tlogwood5022 No it's for sure a problem with the S22 ultra. Samsung will act like they don't know but it's probably to avoid a recall. After the 6.1 update mine would get service for like 5 minutes at a time and then go to SOS mode.
@@tlogwood5022 My only option was to spend hundreds to fix or just trade it in for the S24 which I did but I really planned on keeping the S22 a couple more years so I was pissed
I upgraded from my s 1 to s 29.. wooow amazing thats fefinitly worth.🎉🎉🎉
The s22 heating up is a dealbreaker big one they have this problem since s6
Very useful. Thanks
BTW, what's the music on 10:54 ?
Hey guys, does your S24U heat up? Mine heats up a lot. Is this normal for the phone?
Bro..Im bout to upgrade based on this video. I have S10 Plus.. S22 Ultra... Ill pay the 200 and keep the S22 and get S24
Only thing i do is be on UA-cam, IG, tiktok a little, text and look at emails so theres absolutely no difference for me and im pretty sure even if you play games you wont see a difference. Upgrading evrry 5 mins is completey unnecessary
I have both, S22 is my backup.
I have S22 ultra. MINT CONDITION. Hit me with your info we can trade.
Samsung needs to get that oneplus charging and thermal management. They'd be unstoppable.
I was looking at the trade-in deals on samsung, and they would give me $700 trade in value. Just didn't seem like a good deal at all. If they gave me $850 i would of jumped on the deal.
Can i use my same case? Or do i need to order a new one with the 24
my Self, these difference are not that important to make you swap from S22 u to S24 u. I will stay with my S22U untill samsung cuts the support
Its sad the s22 ultra didnt get the years more updates the s24 ultra is getting. 4 years updates compared to 6 years updates makes the difference.
I've got s22 ultra but with exynos and It's not so bad but thinking to either wait for s25 from January or shall move on buying s24 ultra ? It's a debate.... 😊
I really like my s22u 512g 12g ram. I like the s24u as well. I just don't need a new phone. If i did, the s24u would be what i get
The only reason I want to change my S22 ultra is the battery is so bad. I have the Exynos version and it's poor so need a phone with a better battery
