Agreed. I have an S24U and my wife has her S22U. The battery is the biggest difference IMHO. And yes, it does run a little slower but not a deal breaker. The increase in the years for updates is longer and price drop made theS23U and S24U doable.

@@Darkandcrimson Not really, it just uses up really fast. My phone right now says it should last like 20 hours on a single charge, but if I use it all day, it will probably only last for about 5-6 hours. Even if changing the refresh rate to 60, 720p screen and default processing speed, it still drains really quickly.

Despite what people said regarding the original 8G1 processor, the majority of people had a great time with this device. The updates only made it better in my time with it. Could fairly easily get 7-8 hours screen time with it. The hardware with this device was great and honestly most people aren't going to be able to tell the difference between this and one of the newer devices.

Bought this phone refurbished for around $430 around 4 months ago. Love how it performs on just everyday use. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a flagship on a budget. Only real drawback is tne battery but its to be expected. Thing is still beautiful and solid all around. Planning to upgrade to an S25U once it comes out, but still keeping it as my daily. Held the S24U hands on and it seems they've hit everything on the nail on that one from screen brightness, to cameras, and speed.

I got 2 days++ of battery and works great.. No complaints.. As we know, newer phones have better processing etc. But this S22 Ultra does stack up with those updated ones.. I got mine in March 2022. March 2025 is a few months away and I still love my phone. After 22 months I noticed the battery degrade, and I'd have to charge up 2-3x daily. My screen cracked over the summer, maybe 6-7 months ago and they swapped out my battery for a new one when they replaced the screen. My phone lasts all day again after some recent updates, and I feel like it can last me well over another year.

I've never stopped using my s22 ultra 512gb burgundy. Every year they keep replacing it but I can't justify buying a new 23 or 24 ultra when side by side comparisons offer up so little in the way of upgrades . The camera is amazing still and I love the screen. I still get through a full day easily as well . No stutters or crashes or any bad behaviour. As luck would have it , a deal came up with my Telco that allowed me to pick up a pixel 9 pro 512gb for less than a 10 dollar increase per month on my bill. This will be my first Pixel ever , even though I previously owned all the Nexus devices . Still , my s22 ultra still occasionally tugs on my heart strings or a subject appears that's just a little bit out of reach for the pixel or some other feature that I grew to rely on for the last 3 years . Luckily, it hasn't been all that often. For now , it's playing the role of my security blankie by living in my other pocket 😊

Mine is still holding up well. As you said, battery life is decent but I have the 45W chargers, so it recharges very quickly.
Samsung has been as bad as Apple with the very slow rate of changes and innovations with their Galaxy S series phones. Apart from better battery life, there is no real improvements with the S23, S24 and now the upcoming S25 series. You know it's bad when Samsung themselves recently apologised for not being innovative enough with their flagship phones.
And now that I received most of the newer AI features with a recent update, there's even less reason to upgrade to the upcoming S25 series. All I would be doing is paying for a very expensive new battery because that's the only real benefit.
Samsung, when you finally offer real hardware improvements instead of all this AI fluff, I'll upgrade and not before.
Before I got the S22 Ultra, I had the Note 9. It was a really good phone but there were real improvements that made it worth changing over to the S22 Ultra. A larger screen, higher refresh rate, much improved cameras with that excellent high zoom and 45W charging. All worthy changes. But now improvements have slowed to an Apple trickle.
And dear Samsung. I don't give a stuff about being able to digitally insert a duck next to a glass of beer in a picture. Just saying. I'm not 8 yrs old.

I have a full phone wrap and keep a good case on it and make sure I have a firm grip on it, and tbh, maybe dropped it less than 12 times since I've had it. I don't want another phone, and I used to be one of those people who would get the first new thing out on the market, but nothing is coming out that is worth spending as much as I paid for this one, and no newer models are coming out with 1tb, which is my personal preference, so I can definitely wait till there's a huge development.
