- The latest Sony Xperia 1 VI leaks reveal what may be a very different Mark 6 smartphone, from the camera tech to the no-longer-4K display. Here's a glance of the Sony Xperia 1 VI 2024 rumours, possible release date and leaked specs so far. Stay tuned for a Spurty unboxing and review when that launch finally happens!
In the past week we've seen a lot of chat around the Mark 6 display, which may ditch the 6.5-inch 4K 21:9 design used in all previous models. Instead, Sony may have gone for a more conventional 19.5:9 2K screen for its latest Xperia 1 VI flagship phone. Likewise, the size may have increased to almost 7-inches, perhaps inspired by the slew of Ultra mobiles.
Other leaks reveal an upgraded camera setup. We may now have a trio of Exmor T sensors slapped on the back of the Sony Xperia 1 VI. No other word on how the camera experience may have changed for this 2024 smartphone, but you can expect most of the other specs to remain similar.

Sony really should focus their efforts on providing long-term OS updates.
That's one of the rumours among many. That updates will be doubled.
@@Sabundycrazy, 2024 and it's just "rumored". 4 years minimum, especially at that price point.
@@superiortoall22 well ...four years is enough imho. Most people don't keep their phone for four years. But it certainly needs to be more than 2 years. That's for sure. But regardless.....if the rumours are true.....longer software support, dropping the 4K screen, more mainstream aspect ratio etc.....then clearly they are aiming for more of a mainstream phone overall.
@@Sabundy meanwhile I'm using an xz1c which released in 2017
@allanlmb37 and I wouldn't mind Sony becoming more mainstream. I adore their design language, I appreciate them sticking with SD cards and 3.5mm jack. But I simply can't, and couldn't for the last few years, justify spending 1k eur on a phone that will be forgotten by the manufacturer after 2 years... it's pathetic really.
I'd expect 4 years, that seems reasonable.
FFS. I can't believe this comes the day after I ordered my Xperia 1V 😂
UPDATE: The phone is here now and it is exceptional! Easily the best phone I've ever had. Takes insane pictures and video. 4k 120fps. Absolute beast and I think I'll be keeping it 😆
cancel it now u have 1 year of updates left for that thing 💀
If it’s just one day and bought on internet you can return it
better return it my man
Return that shit bro
Just cancel the order
That Peter Crouch size comparison 😂 great example of the helpful information that for some reason other tech reviews just don't cover.
I am former Sony Xperia supervisor and sadly we dont have any market for Sony mobile in the middle east any more ..so if you want to have one you have to get it from over seas .. luckily that i have some friends who live in UK and USA and i got my Xperia 1 mark 3 and i am super happy with it and i think i don't need to upgrade to the new Sony 1 mark 6
I keep watching even though I'm not looking to buy a phone anymore. What's your favorite whisky Uncle Spurt?
I'll have just finished paying off the Xperia 1iv by then. Gonna have to be something special to make me want to upgrade, this one is still playing nice.
Bro, just let them release Mark V with 4+ years software support
I'm still on the Xperia 5ii. I'll never change from a slim phone like that.
Sony make quality phones. They just don't seem to give a shit if anyone buys them.
Sadly that seems to be the case. Unless or until they actually start marketing them seriously and making them available in more countries.....I can't see them ever selling too many.
@@Sabundy I'm not bothered if they sell less, I just don't want them to stop producing them. Feels like most phones are exactly the same and the economics is so far down most people's list, it's mental.
@@petenicholson3255 But unless they sell more my friend....then no longer producing them becomes a distinct possibility. It's not a case of needing them to have some position in the smartphone market. It's an issue of it being successful so that it continues. And maybe expands in terms of models and products. Brands are not charities right? Any product needs to turn a profit to justify its existence
I'm still probably going to use my xz1c for another few years at this point, then I'll reevaluate then
main thing is the they need to have more years of support for their devices - the majore players now doing 7 years and so Sony needs to get closer to that. Also, sony makes so much cool tech, why can't they do their own line of smartwatches and tablets to create a sony ecosystem like apple and samsung have.
I'd be interested to see how Sony would do watches!
Nobody interested on new tech keeps a phone more than 3 years. Sony give you 3 years of updates.
I appreciate your videos. Always informative and fun.
Another banger my dude
Do the Xperia 1v have a video steady mode in the camera settings?
Chris, any chance you could do a review of third-party chargers? Anker just came out with a wireless charger with multiple ports as well, curious if it or any others are worth it? Thanks!
The Xperia 1 VI needs to following to have any chance of success
4 years of OS updates
Higher screen brightness
Better battery life endurance
Carrier support
And definitely much better auto camera mode
Could we humbly request a video on the Sony Xperia 1 to be shot in 21:9?
thanks for the vid / info
Great reference to Event Horizon.
Sam Neill in leather Speedos.
...Now that's a horror sci-fi!
Great video btw. 😜👍🇬🇧
what I know from a reliable source is the Sony Xperia 1 Vi has a camera and touch screen.
Wrong. Vi has multiple cameras. Not just one. Clearly u are wrong
Still enjoying my S22. Not looking for anything else until I knacker this one up in a couple of years but it's always nice to check in to see the latest spurting...
Just sell your s22 and buy a used s23. You'll thank me later 😂
@@davelaymon6282 s22 is smaller which was why I got in the first place instead of the Xperia I or V which I had been looking at.
I'll be looking at a 26/27 by the time I'm ready to move on I think but I don't really care about AI features, as much as I grew up on and loved talking cars on TV in my childhood!
@LittleMAC78 As someone who went from a snapdragon S22 to an S23, I can definitely say that I'm really glad to have upgraded to an S23. The size change isn't even that noticeable, but the battery life and performance is drastically better. I can honestly feel that I can use this phone for 5+ years, unlike the S22. I'm just sharing my experience, and it's just up to your preference.
I wish Sony phones were cheaper
I am still waiting for a female to copy this UA-cam channel and calling hers Techsquirt 😂😂😂
What 🤣🤣
lmao
Damn
So misogynistic and disgusting comment from someone 🤮
@@bruceinmyheartstfu and get a sense of humor and a pair of balls
I have no problem with a new aspect ratio. Just please keep the 4k display. Having something the others don't separate you.
Best way to start the weekend.
Chris need ur opinion:
Stay with the s23u or switch to the honor magic 6 pro?
the s23u runs laps around the honor
Keep the S23U it is a great phone and certainly much to young to replace right now. You could easily make it last to 2030.
23U can fight for your honor another 3 years

I wonder if the low light qualities really will improve, as the aperture of the new ultra wide and telelens seems to drop. That sensor must compensate a lot.
I don't watch your channel religiously, but every now and again I stumble upon a video and it's such a breath of fresh air not having to listen to the same empty over zealous superficial tech nonse give the news quoting a GSM arena spec list without an ounce of personality
Hey Mr Spurt
I love your show and good sense of humour. Do you still use alpha coders ? It's not in the playstore
It happened in May today the pre-orders for 1mk6 are live today. I think its actually incredibly good. Hope you review it soon
Awesome as usual
I like their aspect ratio thing. It makes them really easy to hold. Specs wise they're also excellent, and I like the side mounted sensor. Audio quality is fantastic as well. I'd like to see a lower price, more than 2 years of updates and, most importantly, a decent camera app that takes really nice pictures automatically. Auto photo quality, especially in low light is a big Sony weakness. What's the point in a super fast auto focus when the shutter stays open so long that your moving object is always horribly blurred.
which is better mi14 s24 or op12? can you do a comparison video? btw i appreciate ur sarcastic humour
The experia 1 5 has new updates this month in the UK. Smoother and more responsive photography. maybe better focusing and battery life. New video app updates and general improvements.
What i dont like is the photo pro update removes the magic erase but like increases the filters available.
Sony has never ported their updated apps to older models. Hell, they didn't even give Xperia 1 V the 2x zoom that the cheaper Xperia 5 V has.
Bought an my xperia 1v last year. Very solid gaming phone.
best intro in a while
I think they should really make the headphone Jack high impedance to support better earphones and then OS updates with a dedicated design team. Last but not least a vapor chamber cooling system.
Pls share wallpaper source 😭😭😭..i have been asking this question for years.
Greeting from sweet Trinidad and Tobago,
What's your thoughts on Sand Land ?
Where to find that wallpaper 😍
I was wondering where I could buy my very own 'Uncle Spurt' doll. Preferably one where you can pull the cord in the back and hear favourite spurt phrases like "shenanigans", "bollocks", "spooge worthy" and "trousers rousing" 😂
Always wanted an Xperia but can never bring myself to get one based on the crazy high price and the meh auto camera mode.
Thanks for the update on the Xperia 1 VI. I know even less about the phone than I did before your review, which was the usual speculative shenanigans. In other words, perfect Uncle Spurt. Keep doing us proud, Spurty, maybe you could make up a load of bollocks about the Xperia 5 VI, as I'm interested in that, if it ever gets released 👍
Making your own props to go along with vegan gags shows true devotion to your craft...impressive work, sir! 👌
A55 review anytime soon? 😊 😅
How about pixel 5 use in 2024
hi,i want ask about sony xperia 10 v it is okay to buy in this year or I should buy new phone of the year I like this phone because I truly want hold this phone since I at 14 years old and because Sony doesn't follow other phone,Sony have an idea to make his smartphone that's why I like this phone
Does anyone know where he gets his wallpapers from?
Sony's convoluted naming system always catches me off guard. I can never remember if it's the 1 series or the 10 series which is meant to be the high end model, and using Roman numerals is like an admission that they don't expect to sell many of these anyway.
# 1 mark vi (top spec flagship)
# 5 mark vi (lower spec flagship)
# 10 mark vi (lowest spec more affordable)
1 always the best, while MK/Mark is the year released/generation
We need another xperia compact. That's the only way I'll go back to Sony
This is me adknowledging your comment with an XZ2 Compact in hand
Too much change would be a bad thing for me. I hope the Sony 1 Mark vi isn't too different. As I love the form factor of the mark ii (and everything like it).
Good there are some reviewers providing some updates regarding Sony phones.
Been using the pro-I for 3 years now I just recently broke the screen so think it's time to upgrade
Watching this vid on my Xperia 1 II. I've been dying to upgrade. Still waiting for a new Xperia Pro. 😅 lol
why wait, just buy the current one
@@RatchetRorschachit's not supported any more
I'm still with my mark ii as well. Been waiting for a new Xperia to tempt me
3-5 series had tons of screen issues. Glad i bought II last year. 🌚
I am thinking of buying it as a secondary phone 😂😂😂
"I'm sure Milton Keynes is absolutely lovely." You haven't been there yet, have you?
I think this is a great move if it helps shave down on cost.
Sony could even just reserve the 21:9 and 4k res for their pro model release.
While their at it, take away the cinema and photo pro apps and just focus on giving the users a great photo/video experience based on software like Google, Apple and Samsung.
Keeping the headphone jack, card slot and full screen notchless/holeless screen is plenty to set it unique from the crowd.
When will you do a review of the Samsung galaxy a55?
I would love some LTPO tech in the screen in the next Xperia 1.
The return of the Walkman app would be good
Headphone jack and LED and I want one
Qi2 charging and a decent commitment to regular security updates would be enough to tempt me to upgrade to the xperia 5 this gen, but if Sony lose the tall, hole-less display then i might as well get an Asus instead
I wish they just get rid of the fromt camera and just put a small screen on the back to use your main cam as your selfie cam
I suggest they should move the audio jack to the right side so gaming will be more convenient using the audio jack!!!
Iam soo excited.
I would LOVE to buy one of these, but really can't while they only offer 6 and a bit minutes of OS updates - Shyte!
Well, I have a Xperia xz2 6gb ram version. Still rocking hard! The only thing I did : I replace the battery {yes, me! So easy to change it!}. So why change it? The phone is perfect after me. Let's sit and wait. Maybe the Xperia 5 mark vi will be my next one!
Sony needs better software support. They don't need 12 years or anything stupid. Just 4 OS updates would sway me away from sammy and into sony.
Do Sony Xperia 1 iii snapdragon 888
Good to use in 2024 as secondary device
Good deal in used market 😀
Yes, it's good for 350usd
Had my Z60 Ultra (China ROM) for a few weeks now and find it to be quite stable after several updates. There is also a community of people who have updated the camera settings to get some truly spectacular results.
I like that the front camera looks like it is smeared with Vaseline, because it saves me covering myself in Vaseline. 😉
I hope they don't change aspect ratio from 21:9 and some other stuff like other manufacturers have...
The 4k display with 21:9 ratio is great. But heck, the screen looks cheap when outdoor especially when under a direct sunlight. I hope Sony will improve the nit peak brightness.
I want Xperia 1 ultra likes Xperia z ultra I bought 10 years ago
What is the name of this anime? 3:05
My house is haunted.😢
Since Spring is ending here's some of the note worthy animes that wrapped up this season in "recently aired" order: Undead Unluck, Sousou no Frieren, Ore dake Level Up na Ken, Mashle, Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete.
It seems like everyone and everything has their own convention or show. When and where will we get SpurtCon?
i will continue to support sony xperia if they keep their headphone jack, sd card, and cinematic camera
Gotta love Sony phone's naming, Xperia One 2 III
Xperia 1 vi needs more than 2 years os updates. I may only keep it for a year but it would definitely help resale value.
dude, which football team do you support?
Amei o designer 👏🏼
Not even a vegan sausage 😆nice one brother 😂
I just want a proper xperia compact again. an update to XZ1 compact. Same footprint / small bezels / bigger battery and camera
Thanks for your anime list..😃
Peter Crouch caught a random one from uncle Sprut 🍻😅
Two changes I would love to see Sony make : First, simplify the camera experience. A simple point and shoot should produce quality pictures. Secondly, at least four years of software support. Some A.I features too wouldn't be bad. Every other thing looks perfect just the way it is: The unique design, the headphone jack, the sim n micro SD tray.
My Xperia XZ2 won't die. But now I gotta wait for the Mark VI 😭!! Also, put "House of Ninja" on your list !!
As soon as my trusty Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite shows any kind of cellphone equivalent of senility or Battery ailment, I'll be getting myself a Sony Xperia 1. I just wish it wouldn't be so bloody expensive (Xperia 1 mk. V costs 1400 euros here in Finland)
Always need that 21:9 aspect ratio, with a minimum of 5 yrs of software updates, a more solid, durable and sleek build, availability everywhere and a more approachable price, 2 K display is more than enough with dolby vision. Low throttling performance and better heat management. More slimmer design around 7.5mm - 7.9mm range, flat frame with screen and back glass flush with the frame. Need a solid phone with weight not much of an issue. These are my expectations from Sony.
Would hate it if they'd drop the 21:9 aspect ratio.
Also I'd rather have a 1080p screen or a 4k over a 2k.
I just don't like in between resolutions😅
How about a functional desktop mode instead of a new phone
Well they're talking about going a different shape of the new phone
man i randomly skipped to 2:26 and i almost fucking died of laughter holy shit LMFAO

with zenfone going big, the Xperia line will be the last of the compact phones with a headphone jack. Unless they go big too.
My Xperia 1 mk3 ceased to receive Android updates and security updates after only two years of ownership!!! I now have a PIxel 8 - 7 years of updates ! Sony need to learn what is important to prospective customers.
If I had to choose between your content and MKBHD's, I'd definetly choose yours.
I like what Marques does, the image quality he offers on his videos, some almost exclusive cool tech he shows, etc. 😐 But he tends to beat around the bush and to get overly detailed. 😒 He enjoys what he's doing for sure and that's great, it would just good if that young man goes straight to the point sometimes. 😮💨
Unlike him, you get to the point, you give enough details, you are organized and I like your (salacious) sense of humour although some jokes are gringy. 😅
Never trusting a Sony Xperia ever again until they fix their damn fingerprint sensors. Those things have always been dying after two years of use and this has been happening since their early flagships.
uncle spurt should make a segment called spurt jokes it will have more subscribers
😄
twis always make up for a bad week
I think Sony needs to find a way to make their model names more understandable. Obviously six comes after five but then there are all the variants which do not make it obvious which one is the Ultra, pro, and standard editions.
😅
Its not difficult at all my friend.
1 = $$$ „Ultra“
5 = $$ „Pro“
10 = $ “Standard“
Mark is just model year, the higher the number the newer it is…
That is where it gets confusing because normally model numbers go up as the phone gets newer and more advanced, but the model number goes to 5 and 10 to indicate lesser models than the number 1.
It is the opposite to what everyone else in the industry does. evenone else increase the number each year and name them standard, pro and ultra.
I think Sony miss out on potential sales because of confused customers going with another phone.
It makes perfect sense now that you have explained it but I gave up when trying to figure it out myself and bought a different phone altogether.
When LG still made phones they had the same problem when they named their top phone velvet, so that people who owned a G6 like me didn't know what was the successor to the G6.
Both Samsung and apple have it simple as their numbers go up each year and they name the models. Having two sets of numbers like sony is complicated for customers. It is important for customers to instantly recognize which is the new Phone with the level of features they want.
I'm surprised Sony didn't take over from LG with the quad dac.
Maybe Chris can ask when he is at the next Sony event., ✅
