    You are the man. Thank you very much sir for your advice and guidance. You truly are putting out the kind of videos I’ve wished to see. It is great watching people hammer down on the big bucks, but this is the content I need to improve my hunting. Especially when you have a guy lay out solid points about my areas available to me! Thank you!

    Hey Peter, thanks a ton for all the information and consistent videos that you've posted here on UA-cam. I'm going to be hunting for the first time in Florida WMA this season and I feel much more prepared because of the advice and experience you've shared. Please keep contributing your knowledge with those of us beginning in this field!

    Peter you are spot on. Finally a real hunting video. I am 65 and have hunted the wmas in voluia county sense i was 8. I wont take anything away from some of the hunters we watch on you tube. they are good in their areas, BUT bring them to Florida wmas and see what they can really do. The thing i have learned and can pass on is DON"T give up. Get away from other hunters. That may mean a long walk but as you know it will pay off most of the time. I love hunting local and the payoff is amazing when the buck you are after finally makes that one mistake that cost him. thanks for the great video

    The struggle is real. Last Dec. my 11 YO son asked to hunt. I "hunted" as kid w/ family on private land/camps. WOW what a difference on WMA's. We spent the end of last season scouting w/ guns, learning the nearby WMA's that we could hunt. Now w/ G.G. permit application open we have spent the last 5 days going to and exploring every WMA with in a hour drive from me. If we get a quota permit or not the time will be spent scouting over the next few months. Thanks for you videos, They have been a huge help in this learning process

      Thanks a bunch, stay after it and try not to over hunt that son of yours, it's hard to get them out there if they don't have fun and take time alone for yourself too. Good luck...

    Your videos are so helpful. This will be my first hunting season in central Florida. Quota permits are in, and I can't wait to get out there. Would love to see a gear setup for florida hunting. I'm still lost on what to wear, boots, and what to bring. Thanks ahead of time.

      the boots will most likely be rubber as most places are wet. archery and muzzle gun are warm. wear light camo but always have a therma cell with you. I do put bugs pray on while walking to the stand and have found that cutter dry works the best for no sent. ALWAYS read the area brochure where you are going to hunt. lots of rules to follow. In my back pack i always bring water. toilet paper for blood trailing and a dragrope. The rest is up to you Good luck.

    Missouri public land was amazing 97-2010. I left FL in 96. And hunting here then wasn’t too bad or hard. Coming back, felt like the state did not want us hunting. I remember hunting here is different. It’s hot. They are smaller. And Florida deer are as elusive as turkey, and never gobble.

    100% The struggle is real. Heat, humidity, insects, dehydration and hurricanes. And that's just during scouting! Each trip I learn more, each season another chapter in the book of Florida hunting knowledge. My biggest tip: Do what others don't or won't. The deer are there, and big bucks too. If you like hunting on easy mode, Florida public land hunting is definitely not for you. Good luck to all the ones who stick with it !

      I use the power line to access remote areas. Use your areal maps, pic out a spot and find an area that has rubs, hunt that area, If there are no rubs find another spot. the place is hard to hunt, if your not on their travel rout you may never see him. Good luck....

      Wear snake boots first, the rest is wide open, blaze orange on public land is a must, i wear jeans and t-shirt and a long sleave over it. when it's really cold I layer up with underarmor and wool. Old school. but thats only when it's 30 or colder. I also like my mareeno wool hoodi I got at Firstlight. Hope this helps

    The best Florida WMA I've ever experienced was back in the early 1980's. The place was called la floresta perdida. The entire 36,000 acres was closed to motor vehicles. You either walked or biked in and all kinds of game, including mature bucks, could be seen during daylight hours. Unfortunately, this place went private in the mid-1980s. When I hunted Idaho, I always checked my Forest Service map for closed, gated logging roads. Same thing there, relaxed game hanging around during the day. In my opinion, walk-in only areas are the answer to quality public land hunting. Vehicles intrude too deeply into prime areas.

    I live in Polk county and I don’t hunt public property because your right u have to walk for miles to get to areas where most people won’t walk to and the problem is if I shoot a big hog or deer how am I gonna get the thing out of their I can’t drag an animal that big plus all my gear miles and miles through swamp and water. I mean some of those areas are 5,6 even 8 miles deep in there.

    • @frankhorn8327
      @frankhorn8327 8 місяців тому

      I would suggest Three Lakes WMA. Straight out route 60 and then you have a few options as to which section to explore. The quota hunts are only for the first weekend of each season and are free to apply with good success rates. Hunting starts in September (archery) and counting small game and Turkey, continues until April.
