Thanks for sharing Peter. I hunted Lake George opening week and this past weekend. Those sloughs are flooded! Didn’t see any deer, but plenty of sign. They’re definitely out there!
I need a hunting buddy! lol i just started hunting Ocala national forest lake Delancy unit and i need all the help I can get lol i like going on the week days when there is less people.
Stay after it. You won't see a lot of deer, but you're chances of killing a good buck stay the same as places you see lots of deer. best tip is get in your stand in places you see buck sign and stay as long as you can, morning or afternoon no matter.
@@peterupdikeswildtreasures4055 awesome, thank you. is there a way i can reach out to you in more of a conventional way? id like to possibly share some photos of place ive been scouting and maybe get some feedback.
@@peterupdikeswildtreasures4055 I didn’t feel comfortable sitting in a tree so I spent most of today walking and scouting. I will say almost every scrape I came across had fresh activity in them. Had two turkeys come out in the road but too far for my recurve. My system to get away from people is water. Not a lot of people like to carry extra gear or sit with wet feet. Cross those creeks and hunt those islands
It seems you haven't had much luck in recent years on Florida's public land. Neither have I. In my opinion, there is too much vehicle access allowed. I've always did best in walk-in only areas. Decades ago, when I hunted Idaho's National Forests, I always consulted my map for closed logging roads with padlocked gates. Saw more game there than anywhere else. These days, here in Florida, I try very hard to get away from "the beaten path" and avoid other people. It's a shame that non-hunters, especially joyriders, can't stay out of the woods during our short hunting seasons. I'm planning to hunt the Panhandle in a few weeks but I think I'm going to encounter a lot of standing water due to all the tropical weather lately.
Good luck on your hunt, And you are right, it's tough out there on public land, but for now it's what I have, so I'll continue to attempt to master it.

Thanks for sharing Peter but dude you talk too much while on the stand.
I make my videos at the end of my hunts, but yea, it's a real problem.....
