@@119Agent this is so true. I grew up in AWA territory. I would get that on Saturday mornings. Sunday nights we would get NWA/JCP. I wasn't even really aware of WWF until around WrestleMania 3. Then they got a Saturday night/Saturday morning slot on the local station, and I learned about them. As I grew up i honestly preferred WCW because I liked the grittyness of it. Just a few notes on some questions you had during the show: Tito Santana and Greg Valentine was originally planned to happen on the show until they decided to run it on house shows after Wrestlemania. By putting it on the card they thought that the Tito vs Greg house shows wouldn't draw as much money than if they just held it off. All three of you complained about not having a WWF title match on the show. This was because Mr. T was the attraction the non-wrestling fans (the key demographic) and Hulk Hogan was just a big guy to back him up. Essentially, people came to see Mr. T but they left being impressed with Hulk Hogan, the desired outcome. Roddy Piper was the major villain and foil to the babyfaces, so no matter what he needed to go on last - meaning Hogan vs Orndorff would be the semi-main and not get Hogan over the same way, plus ending the show with a BS ending because Piper wouldn't put over Mr. T (or Hogan for that matter). So all in all, as stupid as it sounds and feels today, the tag match was the only way to get mainstream attention AND usher in Hulkamania. Great review as always, and hope this answers some of your questions.
Mychael Darklighter I strongly disagree, he won the title in January 84, so by WM1 he had the belt for a year and two months, he had to be drawing well in that time frame for Vince to keep the title on him
He was drawing well for territory wrestling due to his appearance in Rocky III but Mr T was much more of a draw at this point in time. It was this (and the two MTV shows) that made Hogan a legitimate star outside of wrestling and made wrestling mainstream again.
@@119Agent actually, mr. T's popularity was beginning to wane at this point, after WrestleMania 1, we never really saw mr. T all that much, as a matter of fact, mr. T wouldn't appear on television again until starrcade 94

The WWF (owned by Jess McMahon at the time) originally left the NWA in 1963 but rejoined under Vince Sr. but left again (and forever) when Vince Sr. sold the WWF to his son Vince Jr. because Vince Jr. wanted to turn the WWF into a national wrestling promotion
You're almost right. Jess McMahon died in 1954 prior to the WWWF being founded. It was Capital Wrestling Corporation when Vincent J McMahon took over. In 1963 the WWWF left the NWA but rejoined in 1971. In 1982, Vincent J McMahon sold the WWF to Vincent K McMahon's company, Titan Sports. Both McMahon's withdrew from the NWA again in 1983.

@@gorouw2534 It was an awesome WWF event, not WWE I was back on a College break, and went with 3 friends. We made a two sided sign that said, HULKAMANIA RUNNING WILD on one side, and FRAN WANTS WORLD TITLE on the other. We had great seats, and had a blast watching all the action!

the territory system and the NWA started back in the 1950's it was also at the time Vince Sr along with the creator of pro wrestling Toots Mondt took the NY territory and made it a separate entity and while it was frowned upon to poach talent and run in others territories there were a few wars that happened between promoters trying to hold a territory including the Atlanta war and the Memphis war. Also Verne Genge tried to take over nationally before Vince but by different means with his AWA promotion originally trying to be a alternative to the NWA with Verne as the sole head as opposed to a president and a committee of promoters.
They didn't need to mention the main event. Everybody, their mother, and grandmother back then KNEW Hulk Hogan and Mr. T were facing Roddy Piper and Mr. Wonderful. Really, it seemed like the whole country knew about the match.
The reason I think they didn’t do any hammer puns because Greg hadn’t adopted the hammer nickname yet. He adopted the nickname after he destroyed the intercontinental championship with a hammer after he was defeated the Tito Santana. Thus the name “The Hammer”
Going to go ahead and say it, the woman's match was a contender for MOTN that and the main event. Steamboat match was solid. Enjoyed the squash. But pretty dire card overall. Nice foundation for what Mania would become though.
No one in America calls Muhammad Ali by his former name. We all understood why from his quote. “Cassius Clay is a slave name. I didn’t choose it and I don’t want it. I am Muhammad Ali, a free name - it means beloved of God, and I insist people use it when people speak to me.”

You however.. certainly do not. :D
One MILLION views! Get in lads
Well done lads on hitting a Millie I loved this era of WWF but the way the chronologically critiques skills of the Osw boys just adds that touch of class like grated nutmeg on Irish moss
I just have one thing to say about Wrestle Mania 1....
I WAS THERE !!!!!
IT WAS FANTASTIC
Really? Awesome man
You weren't there. I was there, I didn't see you.
Stuart B How did it feel being at a wwe live event in 1985?
@@gorouw2534 It was an awesome WWF event, not WWE
I was back on a College break, and went with 3 friends. We made a two sided sign that said, HULKAMANIA RUNNING WILD on one side, and FRAN WANTS WORLD TITLE on the other.
We had great seats, and had a blast watching all the action!
@@charlescarter4608 That's because you were waisted !
Starting my binge journey, cannot wait boys!
Enjoy the journey. I'm starting what must be my 15th binge
Well, time to go back and marathon the series once more! Thanks a bunch for the evergreen content, fellas
The humble beginnings of your boys, time to go through the journey all over again!
22:38 Ed Leslie is the gift that keeps on giving. I nearly died laughing 🤣
Meeelion. Well done lads!
A motivated OOC. Love it!
Bruno just completely no sold Beefcake lmao. My favorite part of the entire show.
Big John Studd looked like a really really giant Daniel Bryan
Jay, please do WM I through III again with Steve and OOC. Would love to hear it. You guys do a great job!
Who are watching in 2020 lol
2021 for me
Just found these guys in November 2020. I'm watching all for about the 4th time in January 2021
2022 🤟😎
2022 on the 11th Birthday of OSW!
They only become more relevant as the world slips into insanity
1M views!!
I'd like to see another random film trilogy review. Loved the Hobbit videos lol.
Or another AEW review? But most of all... keep doin what you guys do best, delivering great content 👌
who would have ever thought that Wrestlemania 19 would be Hogan VS McMahon
AAAANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN THE WWEEEE!!
Can’t believe all those years ago we had the “paul, paul” segment 😂
the territory system and the NWA started back in the 1950's it was also at the time Vince Sr along with the creator of pro wrestling Toots Mondt took the NY territory and made it a separate entity and while it was frowned upon to poach talent and run in others territories there were a few wars that happened between promoters trying to hold a territory including the Atlanta war and the Memphis war. Also Verne Genge tried to take over nationally before Vince but by different means with his AWA promotion originally trying to be a alternative to the NWA with Verne as the sole head as opposed to a president and a committee of promoters.
So I'm rewatching all of these, because I love this craziness.
I love Mean Gene lmaoooo Wendy looked annoyed as fuck when he busted out laughing
Wendy was a method actor apparently.
2024... 40 years of WrestleMania and it's the perfect time to do a marathon of OSW
They didn't need to mention the main event. Everybody, their mother, and grandmother back then KNEW Hulk Hogan and Mr. T were facing Roddy Piper and Mr. Wonderful. Really, it seemed like the whole country knew about the match.
You made it! Congratulations!!!🎉🎉🎉
The reason I think they didn’t do any hammer puns because Greg hadn’t adopted the hammer nickname yet. He adopted the nickname after he destroyed the intercontinental championship with a hammer after he was defeated the Tito Santana. Thus the name “The Hammer”
dude idk if your still active, but if you see this, great video! I wanted the explanation of it all, and you provided. Will be watching more :D
Going to go ahead and say it, the woman's match was a contender for MOTN that and the main event. Steamboat match was solid. Enjoyed the squash. But pretty dire card overall. Nice foundation for what Mania would become though.
@TheVolourn That is true.
Million views, congrats gents you made the boy stable
No one in America calls Muhammad Ali by his former name. We all understood why from his quote.
“Cassius Clay is a slave name. I didn’t choose it and I don’t want it. I am Muhammad Ali, a free name - it means beloved of God, and I insist people use it when people speak to me.”
Soooooo, that would mean his parents were slave owners
Your theme music selection since #1 was awesome!
A million views? What a pittance
Congratulations to your one million views
Lol those who are watching Wrestlemania 1 in 2018...
Crazy Punk Guy rip my spare time
Watched it when it was first televised in Australia back in the eighties too 🤣
ohhhh yeah brother!
Me
2019
i started looking into earlier videos to find the origins of all you guys' special lingo. cant believe i found one right at the first episode hahahahhaha. "he pearl harbored him!"
Ha ha! We can't take credit for that gem, Gorilla Monsoon said that one all the time 😂
@@OSW I only started watching wrestling at around '93, right when RAW first came around. Saw very little of Gorilla unfortunately, thank God for OSW I guess 🙌😊
That start of the legend.....
i love how knowledgeable you are.
She had to fight inch for inch. She’s not about to lay on her back!
@@Miketheratguy *Evidence needed on exploiting and pimping.
Use is a yes, I cannot call the contract cuts "exploitative" as she used her spot in the industry as leverage as a trainer and in taking the place of a manager she got a cut of contracts inked and gig money, that's common practice. Her rates were stupid high but again, there is a difference between exploiting and leveraging your place.
@@TeemoQuinton it's literally an episode on dark side of the ring and it didn't even name all of moolah's BS. Watch it, and quit asking for evidence ONLINE of all places. You can literally look it up yourself
@add add Nah I just don't take things at face values when people who make allegations have people close to them calling out their bullshit... And y'know... How nobody stepped forward until Moolah died
@add add Georgia Brown's son called his sisters claims against Moolah bullshit off camera but the second he got some money in his pockets he went on that cam and changed the story, Lawler who is as sceevey as it gets has stated Moolah never did any of the sexual abuse shit, likewise Shane Douglas stated he never heard wind of anybody talking this bullshit. Princess Victoria stated the monetary claims are true, something the contracts back up, but that the sexual abuse claims are BS.
No, unlike you I actually listen to the facts and not people who have ab one to pick with a dead woman
@add add oh yeah, and Bruce Prichard has said the sexual abuse accusations are also bs.
try again when you have actual evidence
