- (16 Feb 2022) A group of former Canadian police officers and a military veteran representing protesters who have blockaded the country's capital city say they will not heed calls to end the protest, despite an emergency order signed by Canada's federal government.
"All Canadians should be surprised, no matter your political opinions, that the federal government has resorted to such an extreme and authoritarian measure, like the Emergencies Act, and that the government wants to use force against a peaceful demonstration," said Danny Bulford, a former officer for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who at one point worked on a security detail for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The three encouraged more protesters to come to Ottawa, insisting that they have a right to assemble peacefully, and that the group at large is not responsible for violence or other criminal acts.

As long as the protest remains peaceful yet firm and void of violence the officers involved will continue to realize the truth. The trucker occupation in Ottawa was not peaceful. Horns blaring 24 hours a day for days on end, is not peaceful. Local residents being harassed for wearing masks, is not peaceful. The general public not being able to use the streets in the manner they were intended, is not peaceful. Blockading vital trade routes with the US causing millions in lost trade and possibly irreputable harm to Canada's economy, is not peaceful. How all of the tin foil hats in this country can call this a peaceful protest is beyond me.
This is the same government that gave the ok to BLM to protest or riot however they pleased.
