Hi. New subbie here. I recently started painting from scratch not knowing anything about art or painting. I started because I am a lost person right now. My mother past away my aunt past away my God Father past away. My uncle past away. I have no one anymore. So I found peace in painting. I searched art galleries and your channel came up. Im so grateful for the way you observe and explain the content. Thank you for sharing your voice and the music is peace for me as well. Thank you.
Lost my mother three years ago, and my two brothers two years ago. I am also an amateur painter. I just felt compelled to reach out to you and say hello and....hang in there.
I get the oddest overdue sense of calm peace and wonder floating through all these artworks ...there's something liberating about being before the quirky unexpected often strange unexplainable substance of human emotional intuitive freedom . The failure of words .
Thank you Mary Lynn, it's very generous of you to take the time and effort to share these experiences. Lovely smooth camera work and you possess an adorable voice. It's very calming. I really appreciate the content of your voiceover too. It takes bravery to talk publicly about art. All much appreciated.
Your interest and comments and obvious passionate interest of modern day art are touching. Thank you for sharing the goings on in the NYC art world. I watched this and cringed. I wonder what Michelangelo or da Vinci would say? Seriously! I remember reading an article in ArtNews about 40 years ago, and the gallery owners (like Saatchi) said that they didn’t consider showing any artist’s work unless they had shown ability to progress from a traditional education and ability. The early studies of Picasso are a great example. This is no longer true. I’ll never get it 😢. Guess beauty truly is “in the eye of the beholder”! Again thank you for your postings. ❤
I love your pod cast -- awesome , and you are clearly extremely smart. Your comment by Angel Otero is right on. The paintings are positioned exquisitely between abstraction and recognizable objects.
I lit up when i heard Jay Heikes mentioned. I took his Painting as Object course at MCAD years back. Even though i unfortunately could not afford to continue my studies at the school, that course was the single most influential painting course i ever took. Truly life-changing experience.
With gratitude, Mary. As an aside: I also appreciate James K-- his work, his bicycle, his extensive knowledge & experience (and 'Kate', though I don't recall him ever explaining that) -- but permanently seasick after so many year enduring his hyper-swift camera XOXO
First time here and glad that winds blew me this way. It was Jay Heikes who talks thru the art to my soul. Thank you for the video and greetings from Czech Republik.
Thanks again for such an atmospheric slice of a the New York gallery scene. Just wanted to say I was also really impressed with the Jeffrey Weiss work you kindly showed us.
Mary Lynn-I love your videos! They are informative, entertaining and thought provoking. Please keep creating! You are an authority on what you do. I wish there was more content like yours available on UA-cam.
Absolutely enjoy this video especially this time of the year when everywhere everything shut down . You really make my day by bringing me to NYC Art Gallery where I had been wishing to go all my life. I am 72 years old now really don't think I can visit there in person anymore. Thanks with love. Take care.
Thank you very much for your video and for sharing such treasure of having these art spaces at your hand. I appreciate very much the way you give us the context of each artist and of their work itself. Great place your youtube channel.
I find your video very interesting again. The colorful art of the veteran appeals to me. As a collector I am also interested in young unknown artists. Now that I can no longer travel through the covid myself, could you also pay attention to this in a video?
Thank you again. I have to go now. Your sharing has provided me with an idea and inspiration that I have to get out of my head and into the world. Happy travels.
I really connected to the last one featured...the kinetic sculptures and rust-stained rags stitched together. Wow...very powerful. I am loving your videos!
Celebrating Vanessa German, a visionary artist whose path from local gallery walls to the global stage illustrates the impact of creativity, resilience, and a community of support. Cheers to Concept Art Gallery in Pittsburgh and Kasmin Gallery in New York for recognizing and uplifting her talent early on. Their belief in her work has fueled an artistic journey that continues to inspire audiences around the world.
My Favorite is the Sculpture by Diana Ahaldeed ?? It's a rather whimsical piece, I too love the details. It kind of reminds me of ancient architect's temple carvings out of mountain sides.
Hi~Thank you for your gallery-visiting vlog~ It is so happy to see what’s happening in the galleries in NYC, since I have left NY for almost 3 years...after my graduation from Hunter College with a degree of MFA...these art works are fantastic... and hope to see more shows on your channel~ appreciate!!!
I like this painting 🖌️🎨 and art exhibition in London according to you it's every aspect of showing in this exhibition present 💝🎁 past and future all in one in the exhibition So lots of people who have many ideas 💡 for representing and 💝🎗️🎁 visualise with their own interest and 💝🎗️🎁 activities. So thanks for your information and 💝🎗️🎁 always in my life ⏩🧬 to get it done 👍✅.
Thanks for this (and your other) clips, Mary Lynn! Love your art insights, and your voice! When I lived in NYC (1998-2008) my wife and I hit galleries a lot. We miss the cold strolls down 22nd St. :-)
I've been watching James Kalm for a couple years to stay in touch with NY shows. I'm happy to have discovered your page, just wanna say thank you and keep up the great work 🙏
I love your content. I love art and I paint. Started 6 years after I retired. It's the best thing I've ever done for myself. I was raised in NYC and I love the museums. We don't have many museums in San Antonio but the few we have are pretty nice. Miss going to MOMA and The Guggenheim. I appreciate your videos, you are doing a great service to older people like me. So, thanks.
Thanks, Mary Lynn with the last name of one of my favorite guitarists, uncle Roy. I've kind a lost touch with the modern art scene over the past few years. So, after watching this video I'm excited again. Too bad the Documenta 15 show in Kassel, Germany, hasn't much that makes it worth while for me to go there. I've always enjoyd these shows.
Thank you Mary Lynn for your Chelsea gallery tour. I haven't been to Chelsea galleries since Covid shut down. You UA-cam tour helped me reconnect with art. Your commentary is excellent, your are there, informative but not obtrusive. It works well with the music background, makes an it enjoyable experience. I often spend time on UA-cam looking at art, artists, art exhibits and your channel came up, it was a fortunate find. I like Angel Otero, it seems I have see him before, but collaging of oil skins is quite effective. I like the focus on the image, and the story behind them. I love the chair in the bathtub, looks like a good way to get out of summer heat! I also liked Diana al-Hadid. I am teaching art history and saw sculptural connections. I have subscribed. Look forward to more. When we are back to "normal" will you be giving tours in person? I have attended a few Chelsea Gallery tours in the past. Leonard
Thank you for bringing this beauty to ALL... I love the way you capture the spaces and your delivery is exceptional. Every artist has a profound message, impossible to pick ♡
I think the first and the last exhibits were my favorites. The last, where the rags were configured together, reminded me of something I did in graduate school. I am talking aesthetically only. I feel like I am just learning how to do that. I appreciate these videos, because it is helping me to consider more deeply, why I am painting what I paint.
@@MaryLynn_Buchanan I love seeing what other artists do, and how they think. I look forward to more gallery visits and hopefully seeing some of your artist friends works. Do more clothing and shoe videos too. Love me some personal style, clothes and shoes. LOL
Angeol Otero: some works reminiscent of Brett Whitely and Australian artist active 1960's to 1990s. love the rich abstraction pieces. Jeffrey Meris : love this more ''conceptual' work. very inventive and compelling. Thanks again for taking me from Perth to NY to see some a m a z i n g art!

Greetings from the original Chelsea in London. At one time an artists colony, if ever there was one. From the Pre-Raphaelites to Whistler.
