Can confirm, the Steam Controller is awesome for precision aiming, or should I say pointing? Because it has worked great with other genres including RTSs, Point&click adventures, touch-based games and even used as an input device for desktop/web browsing.. That said, I'm glad to see that this meta-functionality the SC provides is also helping other controllers getting better on PC via the Steam mapper (ie. If it had a keyboard with it so you don't have scroll to find letters or would windows 10 on a streaming service allow me to use my phone pad instead because I want to get that shadow streaming service which is perfect for mobile phone gaming lol on a 600ppi screen it's already at a stupid resolution juts want to play my favourite games on the go using a steam controller
The new precision mouse joystick in the steam beta is much better now (Still not as good as mouse - but they are trying to make the UTOs better - I've been playing through COD:IW with it as a test, its serviceable.)
When he explained UTOs and how FO4 basically forces you into VATS, I was simultaneously relieved and infuriated. I spent a whole day tweaking and tweaking and tweaking with no luck, thinking I was just bad with a controller.
When you're allowed to use the controller you can walk very slowly or you can walk very fast and if you use the trackpad you get such a large range of movement that you can set the edge of the trackpad up to why you to Sprint just make sure you adjust the size of the Sprint radius because a lot of games take a while for you to be able to fire if you're trying to fire from a Sprint
2:43 That is actually not correct - you can adjust the relation between the two. In the Gyro setting, the option called "Gyro camera scale" does exactly that. When you set it lower you will have finer movements from the gyro, compared to the touchpad. But i do agree - you will have better precision with the mouse setting, if the game allows for that.

If only developers would create prebuilt compatability for the Steam, switch and ps4 controllers instead of just the xbox one controller. Maybe that way we could get inherit motion aiming like switch games and not using steam input. It would be so great to have that in the future
1:01 "Not much harder than adjusting the mouse sensitivity".. Well personally have no problems with customizing, but I think that was an understatement. Sliding one setting is not really comparable to digging down 3-4 levels of menus to change all settings to how you want them.
There are some unfortunate effects in GTAV when using the steam controller in what you call hybrid mode, for example when driving and aiming a gun, the radio wheel sometimes pops up on its own.
Wow my preferred settings are much different from yours and I use mouse and keyboard inputs only in most cases. I have my gyro sensitivity above 70%, my right track pad on 40% with medium acceleration. Anything less just feels too slow to me, especially when gaming online. But each to their own :)
I've been trying to play hunt showdown with the steam controller with reasonable success but having trouble with accurate aim keep getting sniped with players with mouse and keyboard but I'm sure if I knew what I was doing the SC'r would be the better tool
Gyro aiming is better then stick aiming, but not as good as keyboard and mouse. Still, it's great for me who wants to be both precise and have a controller in my hands That being said, I so hope the xbox one series x controller has a gyroscope. If every next gen console's controller has a gyroscope, it would encourage developers to add it in their shooters as an option
I wish they could add trackpads, trackballs, or track points to next gen console controllers or at least some kind of mouse slider cause I cant stand joysticks I bought the ipega 9069 which has a touchpad in the middle which is pretty good as well as the steam controller
@@hamzacheema321 well the ps5 would need a trackpad if it is really going to be backwards compatable with all previous playstation games. For the one or two games that propely use the trackpad
i had a stroke when i was a toddler, so i can't use mouse and keyboard for gaming. but i really want to play overwatch with a friend. how does it feel?
@@CandarianGamingBut will the Steam Controller trackpad perform a perfect (or near perfect) 90º or 180º, like the joystick does? I don't have a Steam Controller yet, but I love Flick Stick set on the right joystick of the Steam Deck.
@carlosbarreto4695 I set my right track to mouse input with medium acceleration. Once you get use to it, it's way better than flickstick. Way more control over the camera for looking around

I absolutely love the hybrid system, I come from console and haven't played one in 6 years but I love controller and mouse

Nope. Using the thumbstick for movement is simply trash
Try using a b X and Y is your d-pad it makes it easier to hit them versus trying to tilt the stick

The controller is to complicated for my ! I have one but I can't set it right to get used to it.

how do i use gyro as right analog? not as mouse, bcz of button logo change to keyboard

For shooters, it feels great. There are even people who use this controller to play games one handed, so there's a lot of versatility.

Flick stick is good for other controllers but the steam controller doesn't need it as flicking the trackpad left or right can do the exact same thing

the track pad is only looking, it's the gyro that gives you precise aim. As said in the video
