As part of the Steam Controller, you can export the settings and people can search them. Maybe you could put the name or the link of the steam config setup, so we could just download the steam setup portion and save some time. Just an idea. Thanks for walking me through this!

Everyone, You may notice in Dolphin that your Xinput Gamepad won't show up only keyboard/mouse yeah? Make sure your Steam, Steam controller drivers and such are all updated. After I updated everything related to the steam controller the Xinput showed up. So give that a try first
Also something for non steam games. In controller options, set enable desktop configuration to off. Otherwise for every non steam game would use your desktop configuration
Instead of using 1 and 2, you can use left-stick-click and right-stick-click, so no need to right click into the menus if you press the soft-pull before trying to map the button (or map in dolphin first before remapping the Steam Config)
Actually, you can just set soft pull to analog, and click to full pull on the controller. It takes some messing around with in both the steam-overlay and Donlphin's integrated controller mapper. (I prefer using Hair Trigger, but that's not my point.)
It is a useful controller in dolphin because of the motion control in Wii games. With Gamecube games it is moderately useful because of the dual stage triggers, however I mostly use it for Wii games.

I've watched the part at around 4:07 so many times and I still have no Idea what I'm supposed to do. What do you mean by "head down and select cursor" Head down where? Where is cursor selectable? Your IR red thing is moving around when you're doing this but mine is not. I have steam opened with gyro set to mouse so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I probably wasn't clear enough, and I apologize. Right click on one of the IR directions; this will allow you to manually choose a key to bind an IR direction to. If you change the divice to DInput/0/Keyboard Mouse, you'll be able to scroll down and select a cursor direction from the list of keys. So for Up, I bound it to Cursor Y+, Down to Y-, etc. The option is buried in there, but if you have your gyro set to mouse it should be able to pick it up.
Dolphin keeps thinking my controller is a kb/m??? Idk how to make it switch into gamepad mode. I opened dolphin thru steam and all my firmware is up to date on the controller. I set the gamepad option in dolphin as Xinput but my SC is still acting as a kb/m. Not sure what I missed?
I'm trying to follow this, but when I try to set up the controller, it doesn't matter if I'm using bluetooth or wired, it's not detecting the steam controller at all. I don't have Xinput/0/Gamepad available, only KeyboardMouse and "All devices"

In my experience, it stays that way because it treats Dolphin like a launcher until you actually launch a game. Once you start a game up, it shifts to the bindings that you actually set up for the game. If it's still staying in Desktop mode after you start again, I'd recommend switching to fullscreen if you're not already there.

i managed to get my steam controller connected and working but the problem is that my right trackpad dosent respond well as the c-stick when i touch it from the outer edges, if i touch the center of the trackpad and then slide to the sides it works fine however. i know that this is a prroblem on dolphins side because i used the support option in big picture mode to see how the controller was recieving my inputs and no such problem ever occured, does anyone have any solutions?

Whenever I go into Dolphin through Steam, when I am configuring the controller inputs in Dolphin, it acts as if it's in the browser mode. I can't seem to get my Steam config to go through when I launch Dolphin. Could you help with that?
Dolphin treats the Steam Controller as if it's in desktop mode up to the point where you actually start a game; then it lets the configs you set take over. It does the same thing with games that have a launcher, like Fallout 4.
Not sure I'm following this. Are you doing the binds from your PC or from your TV with steam link? If it's from PC, how are you getting into the binds area? I can find my way through steam to get to the screen you're at, but I'm not following how to properly "set it up like xbox, but with 1 exception" How are you setting it up for xbox?
By "launch it through Steam," I mean add Dolphin to Steam as a non-Steam game. This lets the Steam Controller talk to Dolphin. If you right click Dolphin in Steam and hit "Edit Steam Controller configuration," you can bind the controller the way I show in the video. You will also have to hop into Dolphin and configure the controller there as well. I hope that helps. If it doesn't, lemme know and we can look further into it.
Also, when I DO plug in the controller to my PC, And then go to Dolphin through Steam, and then go to controllers, I can't map anything. The steam controller isn't responding to anything other than Trigger Pulls. None of the buttons respond.
Great video! Only problem, like many others, I can't set up the IR bindings to the gyro. I right click on "up" then select keyboard, find the Y+ cursor but when I click on it, it doesn't save it as the command, it just leaves it blank. I believe I set up my steam controller correctly as I can move the cursor with the SC gyro. It simply won't accept it as a command on dolphin. Any idea on what I can do? Thanks a lot!
Thanks, that was it. Now I'm having issue with the camera. On Gamecube and Wii games as well. It wasn't doing it at first. I'll just reinstall the game, see if it changes anything. Thanks again!

Ayzeg Did you open Dolphin through Steam? The SC does most of its Xinput shenanigans through Steam itself.
I have this problem as well. Can't figure out why. The SC seems to stay in Desktop mode after launching Dolphin. Can't bind anything.

This alone makes the Steam Controller the very best ever. It can emulate virtually every controller in existence.
Wait, so why exactly are we setting trigger hard pulls to 1 and 2? Where does the difference between soft and hard pull come into play?
A lot of Gamecube games can tell the difference between a soft and hard pull; Super Mario Sunshine being one of the bigger examples
