I've had some time in a previous generation Elantra N and, yeah, those seats can't be rated enough. There's a reason Hyundai also uses them in the Ioniq 5 N. They are fantastic.
Sadly, Albert Biermann retired, but Hyundai just hired Manfred Harrer, former lead developer of Porsche Taycan project, as the head of Genesis and Performance development tech unit. N's success will continue.🎉
@@cwx8 Albert Biermann will be missed. I wish Manfred Harrer will be as good as Mr. Biermann. Manfred Harrer was the former vice-president of Chassis development in Porsche. So, I am sure he will bring a lot of Porsche tricks to Hyundai. That is a good news for consumers who can't spend $150k on Porsche.
Great Review, make me more interested in buying. I just want to add the US spec manual will not include a sunroof/moonfoof in the manual. BTW, you are in love with the silver wheels? J/K in my opinion, it's a beauty. I will have it in a gray or red vice that hue of blue. Take Care.
And this is why the Koreans will never be better than the Japanese Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda and aslo Mitsubishi tunes their own cars, Hyundai/Kia needs Europeans to tune their cars cause they can't doit their selves.
@@RedRozzsesx I don't know why you been have you ever heard of Albert Biermann? Who used to work at BMW M division? Yes, that's what the N division is all about.
This car really is a sleeper. Most people don't realize what it is. I have mine tuned and making about 320 whp. Guys get weird about it when they get passed or hear the exhaust. They turn it into a pissing match and act offended that threy got passed by a 4 door Hyundai sedan. If you want a fwd performance car or just want something new and spicey under 40 k, this is a grreat car. I love mine, and it has been a lot of fun to own it. Track days have been amazing and the car never overheats or under delivers.
I went from FL5 to Integra Type S, but still have immense respect for the Elantra N, especially for the price tag. I still rubberneck for them, particularly when I see a refreshed 2024 model.
Having owned several Hondas in the past, most notable ones the ITR DC2 & AP1. I couldn’t justify the price difference of the EN & FL5, especially not after ADM. Extremely happy with the EN, although I know I would have said the same with the FL5. One huge fact that goes unnoticed, the EN is equipped with a semi-closed deck. Not sure why this isn’t brought to light, but what a stout engine the EN is equipped with.
@@jasonscotta7129 If you've owned those cars you understand exactly what your paying for, the level of engineering isn't free my friend. I'm positive in 10 years time we'll all see what that extra dough gets you.
@@jasonscotta7129 What are the value of those cars today Jason? You get what you pay for, the level of engineering is different. It's not a knock to Hyundai it's just the heritage or Honda.
Who woulda thought that Hyundai is now apart of the conversations!? Proud Veloster N owner, the first N car in the states. Wish they didnt kill it off :( i never thought id drive a Hyundai but i gave it a chance and it IS one of the best value FUN cars out today!!!
Yeah people look at the VN door layout wrong. It's a coupe with an extra door. Not a 5d hatch. I also never thought I'd own a Hyundai but here I am loving every drive with my VN
If you’ve ever driven an E46 M3. There’s attributes to it that are practically identical to the EN. Such as, when cornering the steering weight build up; controlled rotation, you manipulate the suspension through trail braking, percentage of throttle and occasional lift off. The vehicle never suddenly snaps, it’s seamless. When I pilot MY23 EN, the hefty resemblance of the E46 M3 really astonishes me.
As an Mustang Ecoboost owner they are pretty fast cars. One person raced me and I barely one by 1 second very close and I modified my car with catback exhaust, intake and downpipe. If it was stock I wouldve got clapped lol.
Bought my wife the Kona N because she prefers hatch backs, but I’m wondering if we missed out on this car. Curious if the suspension feels the same. My wife’s car has pretty stiff suspension in all driving modes.
Another sleeper color that surprised me(I had to see it live) is their red. It's a darker red and the red striping at the bottom of every other Elantra N is gray(obviously red against red doesn't work) and the grey striping is more subtle and doesn't grab the eyes like the red striping does. I did buy a 2024 red Elantra N with DCT(Thank goodness I can stand the new front styling). I traded a 2021 VW GLI S with DCT and the Elantra is quicker, more solid and handles noticeably better.
@@BrianMakse true, but Mosport caters to the clubs and big events while TMP is very accessible to the individual Drivers. Having the track that has open session most days of the week is very cool. Mosport requires joining a group, spending 4 times the amount for track access and canceling all your plans to make that one rare track day. I've deleted that track widget from my EN's display, since it's too annoying seeing something that's there for useless show.
I have a GRC, but I'm glad to see Hyundai put this on the market. Choices are great for enthusiasts as long as they buy them. The Stinger was a fun car but not enough interest to keep it on the market. As always great review 🎉.
Seriously considering this, but Brian, living in Canada South (Minnesota) what are your thoughts about making this a 12 month proposition (assuming a set of winter tires)?
@@BrianMakse yes, but it was a pre refresh DCT. Also considering a Mazda 3 hatch manual and maybe an Integra with a stick. Want to teach my kids a proper transmission before they are erased from the affordable end of the market. And have some mid life fun as well.
Such a strong case for this car, but not sure I can go back to FWD. For similar money would you take a two year old 330i Msport? Sadly no manual but obviously RWD or an excellent RWD biased AWD system.
That's why I got a Red '24 because the red is the only color that comes with Silver trim/accents instead of the red. Much more of a mature/sleeper look.
I’m seriously considering one of these when I am back in the search in about ten months. I hope markups aren’t prevalent when that time comes. Otherwise, the “bargain,” isn’t such a bargain. I would love a slightly different rear, a functional hood vent, and functional fender vents for brake cooling. Regardless, this car has grown on me quite a bit.

I donno how anyone can stand to look at this thing. I think id rather be seen driving a pt cruiser. I dont care how cheap it is. I definitely wouldnt turn around to look at it after i got out.
This car requires octane learning after every tank full in order to achieve maximum boost. Most reviewers never mention this. That is a definite deal breaker.
Yeah that sucks big time! I own 22N manual and have achieved Octane Learning only 3 times. I live near NYC so finding a place I can go around 70mph for 5-10 minutes without cars obstructing me is just about impossible unless I fill up in the middle of the night. With that said, I have exactly zero regrets. It drives amazing without octane learning but it is frustrating to know that there is little more performance that I’m missing out on.
That's why I bought the red one. It doesn't stick out so much and look a little sleeker IMO. The accents are silver instead of red like all the other colors. I thought it was the most sleeper of the color options.
Honestly it's a good deal, but maybe Hyundai should of picked a different flagship color for their Ns. The red and dark blue look better. Honda has more advanced FWD setup, but even at MSRP it's hard to justify spending that much on a fwd car.
