I kept asking the same thing. All of those guards posted all over over Rick Ross's house where just servants apparently. They literally opened the door for an invading armed military to come inside of the palace and "throne room". The men servants just standing there watching young girls go at it with armed militia.

They went overboard on the cameos. Snipes wasn't funny, leslie jones wasn't funny and annoying. Tracy Morgan wasn't funny either. Too many people that didn't belong in the movie, they didn't focus on the original main characters.

It seemed like one big musical play how everyone was dancing in the whole movie. It had a few funny scenes, but overall I didn't laugh once.

They emasculated Hakeem. Hakeem was a very confident, strong minded, humble man who stood on his square and morals. He was no scary punk when pressed. But in this movie they made him a coward who's daughter had more heart than him. It was too light with no grit and gavetaus of the original. This was a disney movie. Saddens me to say I did not like it ..
Of course they emasculated him.. it’s 2021 and the continual stamping down of masculinity will only get worse ..

@@memoaustin7151 I personally don’t think she’s awful. She’s just not a strong comedian. Most of her jokes are just saying something in a weird way, or saying something relatable. I didn’t like her in Ghostbuster (2016) because she was the 4TH comedic relief. There are better comedians, but she’s not bad, nor is she good.

Leslie Jones gets pigeon-holed into badly written, borderline racist caricature roles. It sucks, but the woman needs to work. Girl's gotta eat and pay the bills.
Protip, anytime a classic "R" rated movie gets a modern sequel or reboot, but it has a PG-13 rating, it's probably gonna be trash. Robocop and Total Recall are prime examples of this.

Theres a scene in the first one that totally contradicts the whole plot of the second. When Simi and Akim was cleaning the window at Mcdowells, Simi said " I haven't had sex since we came to America and I'm in badly need of a manicure." They forgot about that one important detail....

How far has movie/gaming industry fallen? Every time I see an advertisement, whether it is for a game or a movie, the only thing I wonder about is, how much of a failure will it be or how will it be ruined.
I find with gaming it's best just to be about 3 or 4 years behind everyone else. By the time I get to assassin's Creed unity or no Man's sky everything's fixed and they cost $9.99

For me, the cringiest, dumbest, fucking scene was the interview scene.
You could consider this non canon like I have, because when I watched the recreated flashback, it doesn’t add up. Because if it actually did happen that way, Akeem got sober and over the drugs pretty quick to still be able to go back out and discover Lisa at the black awareness rally. Not to mention, in the original, after the nightclub Akeem is having a conversation with Semmi about the emotional problems of the people they encountered at the club while heading back to their apartment. I’m sorry but this film is non canon for me
plus semmi right before they meet lisa makes a comment on how he hasn't had sex in 2 or 3 weeks

"Dolemite is my name" is where Murphy came really back. And actually gave a sht about the role. C2A is just a Sandler-ish cashgrab.
This plus Dolemite made me really miss having Wesley Snipes in movies. He is really setting himself up well for a career that extends beyond his action hero days - so glad to see more and more of the guy.

Eddie Murphy has entered his Adam Sandler period: The occasional oscar-worthy performance followed by lame films that were fun to make than to watch.
I'd give it a below average as well. None of the jokes really hit, they were just there to be jokes.
SPOILERS: The son gets into his groomer way too fast to feel for it and he only questions becoming a prince only after "You gotta get a lion's wiskers." He was down until then, but the issue wasn't the lion, it was "He's not the right guy for the job." Leslie Jones and Tracey Morgan just didn't do it for me.
I laughed more watching the Vicar reading my Grandads Eulogy than I have watching Leslie Jones in movies.
When you introduce children of the original characters in a sequel, it's never gonna be good.

They had Morgan Freeman and James Earl Jones in the same movie. The 2 most iconic voices in cinematic history, and they didn't even have a sparring dialogue like Deniro and Pacino in Heat? What a missed opportunity. Could have made Freeman the King of Snipes character.

It didn't feel like a movie. It felt like a badly made tribute stage show to point out funny moments from the original w/o any of setup, dance & music numbers, over the top costumes, & a crap "Where Are They Now" episode.

Finding out Lavelle isn't his son but takes cares of him.....He would be like the Semmi character to his oldest daughter Meeka. Watching over her like a big brother....
His daughter Meeka becomes the next Princess and gets to choose her Prince.....
After credits, Meeks & Lavelle enters Akeem's office walks towards his Globe. They both talk about finding her Prince and spins the Globe. Then the camera zooms towards her face as she stops it with her finger and she starts to smile.....
Then the movie ends
I watched the 1st film again right before watching number 2 just to get into the story and characters again. Was so excited right after the 1st finished. Then about 10 mins into the second I was no longer excited..... I turned it of half way into the film. What a load of sh*t 😕
Their issues with Leslie are my same issues with Melissa McCarthy. Just the same characters reused 24/7 every movie they’re in
Is Rebel Wilson part of the team? Honestly asking: I didn't see enough movies with her in it, to tell if she ever made a different character.

I ALMOST watched this on my phone earlier donating plasma, and I saw the leslie jones pop up and I rolled my eyes I saw them waking up in bed with the ding, and then I watched some anime instead the last few episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen I haven't watched yet.
That date rape scene annoyed the hell out of me....it was done for laughs. If Akeem had done this to her, there would be hell to pay and SJW's would be up in arms...why is it ok for a woman to do it?

I wish that the movie had shown that even though the son didn't grow up with the privilege that his sisters did that he would still be intelligent and articulate. They hinted at it at the beginning of the film, but then made him goofy and ghetto. It was a million missed opportunities
Exactly. There's nothing likable about the son or his family or storyline.
But if they made him intelligent and articulate throughout the whole movie it would make no sense because it would miss guid the point of the movie. The son is coming from America into a whole new costume, he is going from a ghetto background into a life a luxury, ofc he’s going to travel to Zamunda and act the same way he did in as when he was in America because he was not a costumed to the way they acted in Zamunda, he’s not gonna go to Zamunda and immediately change the way he acts.

Plot twist: Neil Druckman has a whirl at this sequel. The movie starts out with Wesley Snipe's character assassinating Akeem. The movie then focuses on Wesley Snipes for the rest of the film. Expectations subverted. Oooooooooo 😯

I watched this movie with a group of friends, we watched this movie 40 minutes in and just had to stop watching it, it's so fucking woke and it recycles the old jokes from the first movie. The first movie was amazing.
I can't ever watch this, the first one is just too inmportant to me to ruin it.
