  • In this video I am making a bird table that is a bit special. I was commissioned to make it with lots of personal keywords and and butterflies carved into it.

Great looking Bird Table I also used yacht varnish to finish a Bird Table once and it is very hard wearing.

Beautiful work Mark. I was looking at the map where you are and some of the scenes there. I had a little aunty from Exmoor although we kids at the time insisted it must have been Dartmoor !!(Ha ! Ha !) Also noticed Launceston and I presume the Tamar River (like in Tasmania) and Exeter as well. The area could be a little piece of Tasmania if you look at scenes in Tassy. Very nice indeed mate. Look after yourself and remember, no rock and roll yet !!

I am new to your channel joined today but have enjoyed binge watching all your videos great work I enjoy watching what can be achieved in a small shed without all the bells and whistles tools (Festool) keep up the great content 👍👍

A "bird table". I've never heard it called that before, but I can see why one would. Very nice project. I'm sure the birds & your client will love it! Happy New Year!

Two of my favourite things ever. A man in a shed, and anything bird related. Absolutely love it. I am totally addicted to watching good people in sheds knock up all sorts of good stuff. I work for a utility company and posted this video ages ago ua-cam.com/video/aN5r1ci1rds/v-deo.html check it out. Since I recorded this, we have the bird eating out of our hands. We are now trying to train him to drive the van!!!

Love your video. We had a similar experience on holy island in Northumberland last summer in a cafe. The birds feeding of our plates on the table.
Lots more content coming in new year after my recovery from surgery.
      Please share much appreciated.

Wow! That’s a fantastic job Mark, love all the carving. I have a project coming up for my Son & could incorporate router carving their names on it, what bit are you using & how deep do you cut? Hope you’re progressing well after your op 👍.

My recovery is progressing well. I’m week 3 now. Haven’t yet got back in workshop but missing it a lot. Thanks for your comments on the latest build. I did it at the same time as when I built the table. When I get back in the shed I will show what bit I use.

The best bird table build I've watched! I enjoyed the carving especially, I'll be having a go at that myself because it really does make the finished item special. Thanks for mentioning the benefits of larch and cedar, hopefully I'll be able to source some here in Dorset.

      Where in Dorset are you?
Wareham woodshop is a great place.
You also have Yandles in Somerset near Yeovil

Love it, what I like is your a normal guy in his shed level, using fairly basic gear and not a CNC in sight 👍

Yes I’ve watched quite a few of those channels. I find it fascinating but for me it’s about basic woodwork skills. The same skills that master craftsmen like my dad and grandad used all their lives when building furniture.

Hi Mark I'm new to your fan base 😁
Joined you today, just watched your small workshop tour. I was wondering where you got your stencils from that you are laying out the bird table stem with, they look really good.
I also live in Dorset I'm at Sandford nr Wareham, Happy New Year to you and the family.
    Steve

    Hi Mark
    I think it’s a beautiful bird feeder.
I really liked the details.Very professional and perfectly organised.
I make bird feeders as a hobby, but unfortunately I don’t have that patience for carvings or burning like you.
    Well done
