great little project, add some 2" pads to the foot stretchers and this will counteract any uneven surface. Well done Matt…..

I've seen these things at the 'garden centre' etc and often times they have all the finesse of a cheap lap fence panel! The Badger Bird-Feeder on the other hand is the Rolls-Royce model - well done, I hope the birds appreciate the love you've shown, Matt.

All my research into bird tables only goes to proves all leadiing manufacturers have not a clue about bird behaviour what so ever, Here in the uk, My main concern is our native song birds small garden birds, Such as black birds, Robin's, The blue tit family,Our finches, Wren's, And what I've seen so far in the market place to purchase are total rubbish, No real practical use what so ever, I wont a design that excludes Seagulls, Corvid's, and most of all Pigeons, The average bird tables have major flaws IE almost flat wooden roofs, But manly design, In respect the height of roof from the feeding base? The wooden feeder standing support directly on the ground will rot, In a couple of years!! Try to design a more practical use to meet the needs our birds, And not the people who wont something pretty in there gardens!! And lastly most of the feeders are grossly over/priced!!!😡

It looks like you covered your drain holes. Is there space under the port with the dowels in it to allow water through?

Matt, not sure if you read messages from older videos, but I’d be interested to know how you deal with bandsaw drift as you never seem to suffer from it. I have the axeminster saw and I really struggle even with a wider blade. Doesn’t matter what material I’m resaving

Very nice. But instead of a full surround edging of the table, a partial surround would enable draining & ease cleaning of the table so you can brush uneaten food off at the corners.

those "oak birds" must be small, do they have good table manners ?
expect the drainage holes to be too big if the seeds are put on the floor and not in a dish.

Hi Matt great build as usual. Following your lead on trying to use as much reclaimed timber as possible but looking for advice on finding hidden nails etc. Can I ask what you do.use apart from a careful visual inspection before running timber through the planner etc. Thanks

Hi Matt, I use all reclaimed wood mostly pallets but some other wood comes up at times, I have a load of mahogany bar tops that came out of a pub that was being modernised and I also have some maple left that came from an old dance floor (I have a friend that refurbs that sort of thing so I get the wood instead of it going into land fill a win win thing as far as I am concerned. Some of my pallet are from a firm that makes stair lifts and the pallets are over forty feet in length it is amazing what is put into one use only pallets oak and other hard woods and as you will understand these pallets are made for four by four or even bigger timbers as that have to support heavy steel girders. It is a pity you live so far away or I could have given you some, but as I am in the north of England and the covid problems that is out of reach. Nice bird house by the way.

Nice work, but wrong design. It's no good at all that the birds can cr*p on the bird food. That way they are spreading diseases.
Make a bird feeder and put in center under the roof. 🙂

Hi Matt, I can’t help but to think you have lost all the beauty of reclaimed wood by the time you have planned and sanded the wood it could have been brand new.
