  • The Mission Engineering 529 USB Power Converter is my favorite power supply. It uses a 5V USB power source so you can power it with any old phone charger. Because it uses USB power, the entire guitar pedalboard can be powered from a USB battery. The battery that comes with it will power a pedalboard for up to 20 hours. Personally, I use a wireless cable system with my guitar, so having the ability to put my board anywhere on the stage is awesome, regardless of how far away I am from an available outlet. It is also the perfect power supply in a studio setting because you don’t have to worry about 60hz hum because pedals are not a part of the main room power. You don’t have to worry about being plugged into the same circuit as the lights or something else that creates a power buzz.
I’ve been using the Mission Engineering Power supply for the past three week… four rehearsals and three live performances and it has performed flawlessly. I love how it fits under my tiny pedalboard perfectly. I highly recommend this to anyone interested who wants to go wireless, has a power hum they need to get rid of, and needs a small power supply.

Yup I use my pedalboard with power bank too, but actually I did this setup some like 4 years ago with a usb 5v to 9v converter to use it with any power bank because couldn’t find something like this back then. It’s good to see someone else thought the same way I had in mind hehe

A lot of bars and lower quality venues have pretty jank grounding so this seems like a great way to get around that! Might want to look into this. Thanks Kennis!

This is great very very lightweight which can really help touring musicians save money like flying.
Reminds me of the pedaltrain Volto power supply.

    5V - to - 9V

These are only about £120 here in the UK. Thats really not a bad price. Especially if you already have a portable power supply laying around and a lot of people do (and if you don't they're like £15 for 10,000mh).
I'd rather spend £120 on something so handy and portable that I can keep in my pc when i'm at home and take on the go to gig with than spend 200 on something that needs to stay plugged in.
Charge your phone and power your pedals at the same time ;)

I have this one but want more but its the same price now as the 529i...
Can you daisy chain the 529i to the 529?
Can you also use a battery pack with the 529i?

KENNIS RUSSELL, did using this power supply make your overdrive pedals and distortion pedals more quiet less noisy?

nothing new except its Price! I got the same set up just no blue box and it cost me 25 dollars... powers 9 pedals but if you have unlimited cash and just LOVE to spend money I guess this is a good option...

Steve Redenbaugh The thing to remember here is that the Ionic, Volto, and similar devices have a single output only. If you daisy chain multiple pedals, especially if you have multiple digital pedals, like Kennis does here this can cause significant noise issues. The 529 has 5 separate ISOLATED outputs. That's why it costs more. This is much the same as with AC power supplies. A One Spot or similar costs less than $20, but these do not have isolated outputs. Supplies Like the Strymon Ojai or Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 with multiple ISOLATED outputs cost around the same as a 529. Isolated power supplies require a lot more design work, and much more expensive components like isolation transformers, but they are much quieter to use.
