Avi was with Pentatonix for several years but could not keep up the pace and desperately wanted to get home to his parents as his mother was having a second bout with cancer. He bought a cabin deep in the forests of Tennessee. He sits on his porch and composes in the peace and quiet of his place. He might be called a bit of a hermit as he is not much into socializing. He had a livestream concert back in March. He introduced a couple of his new songs and delighted his fans with almost an hour of his fabulous voice. He was born and raised in California but seems to love the heavily forested mountains of Tennessee. His personal genera of music leans more toward Americana folk/western... He is classically trained and already had an offer in hand to become the Basso Profundo in the LA Opera House. Two days after the offer, he was contacted by Scott Hoying, the leader of Pentatonix. Scott, Mitch and Kirstin attended school together and had hear about the nationally televised A Capella sing off and needed a bass and a beat boxer. Avi decided to go with the group instead of opera and after weeks of grueling performances, they won. While Avi was with them, they won 3 Grammy's and did a huge amount of touring/traveling. He has a very nice catalogue of his music on youtube and a fan base all over the world. He is also a Polyphonic/Overtone singer. He had a dream of beginning a A Capella camp for young singers from all over the world. He shared his dream with a couple of friends and the three men founded A Capella Academy. The applicants interview online and the three "daddies" make their decisions as to who will be accepted. Every year, Avi does an online concert where people aske him to sing songs and donate to hear these spontaneous concerts. The money goes to pay for the young people who are accepted but might not be financially able to provide their own way. It is a chance of a lifetime for these young people and many go on to begin their own music careers. His music is calming, soothing and heavy with nature undertones.
How about how Tim Foust sustained that last low note…unreal!! The harmonies and Adam Rupp’s beatboxing were amazing! Great reaction to my boys 🎉 I love Home Free😊
If you would like to hear Adam Rupp who is Homefree's beatboxer/ vocal percussionist live he has a drum solo video out on youtube that is live. Please give it a listen. And that low low bass note at the end was Tim Foust from Homefree. Thank you for your reaction!
SO glad you guys finally got to this one!!! Yay!!! One of my favorites, and Avi adds so much to an already amazing group. Glad he collaborated on this with Home Free. Thanks Office Blokes I needed this on a Friday afternoon!
LOLOL…You hit it on the head ! When they did this on the Sing Off…Jewel, looked at Adam & said, “You put a bit of Raggae into the Country !” Now, do “FOLSOM PRISON BLUES”….another Johnny Cash cover. Done during COVID.
When they did this on the Sing-Off, one of the judges described the beat as "acapella country reggae". LOL! You can hear the live version of this one - there are several videos of their Sing-Off performances.
The last note was Tim Foust of Home Free. The growl technique Tim used at the end, he is actually who taught it to Avi. Avi is a more dynamic singer, but Tim breaks things with his low register.
I assure you that you have never heard anything like it among the voices. Diana Ankudinova's voice goes straight to the soul. Among the reactionaries, Diana has long earned the title of queen of goosebumps. Fallen in love with her humanity, her soul, her voice, her personality, her talent, humor, intelligence, courage, ... ❤️ Recommend making reactions to Wicked Game, Its Man's Man's Man's World and other
This is a good video, but I liked their original arrangement on Season 4 of The Sing-Off even better. If you haven't heard their Sing-Off performances, I recommend watching the ones that include the judges' comments. Many of us saw them for the first time on this show.
like Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. But I LOVE Ring of Fire by Home Free. I love Tim's voice but Avi Kaplan has one of best bass voice's I've ever heard. :)
Tim and Avi have very similar range. They both have a reputation for destroying amps and speakers with their sustained low notes. The guy in the cowboy hat is Chris. He started the group and is the brother of Adam (the beatboxer). He has since gone on to pursue a solo career and suggested Adam Chance as his replacement. Here is a link to a live performance by Adam the beatboxer. He does this all the time. ua-cam.com/video/Tnd5nUnpmIA/v-deo.html
Avi Kaplan is in this video and he is from Pentatonix,he’s the bass who has long brown hair,a beard, and a beanie. Edit:I just saw that y’all do know who he is but I’m just gonna still keep this comment up.
@@intermenater Avi DID NOT tip his hat to Tim. He changed out of his signature beanie and put on a cowboy hat. This was actually Chris Rupp's idea to show that Avi was more a fan of this type of music than the pop he was performing with Pentatonix (it was actually the same hat that Chris was wearing in the video...they later auctioned it off for charity).
Home Free and Pentatonix are the best a cappella groups out there. Recommend some of the newer Pentatonix originals like Coffee in Bed, and Love Me When I Don’t.
Do the live version of Ring of Fire Homefree did for the Sing Off which they won a year after Pentatonix won it I believe. These 2 group are so good. I'd say they are the best in their craft.
Hello, thank you for the video. I would like to see your reaction to the performances of Diana Ankudinova. This is a young singer, she has covers of famous songs, as well as her own songs.
Yeah!!! As a Pentaholic I also love Home Free and definitely Avi, please react to Hallelujah by Pentatonix, music video and for a great comparison the Christmas live version.
I'm not sure you realize that there were no instruments there...listen to it again, the beat over is making ALL the sounds. Also, Johnny Cash was the one who originally used the Caribbean sound because he loved it.
You should give Brother Ali - Uncle Sam a listen. It's a really eye opener lyrically and the visuals are profound. The rap song makes you feel every verse and makes you think. Amazing song.
Every time I hear this song, no matter who sings it, I start singing Tree's On Fire by Cledus T. Judd you guys should hear that it's funny as hell just a part of it The cat walked in Set my Christmas tree on fire He climbed climbed climbed Hit some bulbs And stripped the wires :(Meows): That's when I learned learned learned This tree's on fire This tree's on fire Damn cats I go into my Christmas tree of fire And I huffed and huffed and spit But the flames would not expire Boy it burns burns burns This tree's on fire This tree's on fire
Hmmm. Interesting Penguin story. NOT!! Cut back a little on the Roo Juice. Thanks for the review. Good job.' Man of constant sorrows' should be next. Each one of these guys is a lead singer. When you listen to more of their songs, you will see that. Say Hello to Olivia for me. LOL.
NEW SUB. YOU SAID YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHECK OUT THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCES. THERE ARE ALOT OF CONCERT VIDS. CHECK OUT ADAM RUPPS DRUM SOLO [BEATBOXER] OR 9-5 LIVE BEATBOX BREAKDOWN NEWEST VERSION THE OLD ONE HAS CHRIS RUPP WHO LEFT 2016. THE NEW ONE HAS HIS REPLACEMENT ADAM CHANCE, WHO THEY CALL CHANCE TO AVOID CONFUSION WITH THE ORIGINAL ADAM.
Tim Foust from Home Free sang the last note. He can go so low. You might like him with Peter Hollens singing Misty Mountains from the movie the Hobbit. On his last note the camera shakes. Home Free is so versatile, they don’t just sing country. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own stuff. You might like Dive Bar Saints, an original. Good reaction.
First off, I am a huge Johnny Cash fan. Second, if I was dating a dude and he played this for me I would get up and leave without saying a word, gouge out his contact from my phone, smash the phone, and throw the remains into Mt. Doom. That said, great reaction blokes 👍🏼
That's not subharmonic. As natural basses neither Tim nor Avi use that technique. The most they do is growl aka fire-breathing which is what Tim did here.
All the guys in home free are obviously super talented, but I just don't care for their arrangements. They sounded AMAZING at the beginning . . . then they started beatboxing and it all went to hell. Not my taste at all.
Avi puts his hat on in the last shot like “kings to you bass master”
That last note was Tim from Home Free.
More Home Free reactions! Don't care what songs, just more!

PRETTY GOOD ?!?!?! They are DAMN GOOD ! Great for that matter. NONE ARE NEAR THIS GREAT. Home Free !!!!!!!!! jj
TIM was the LAST NOTE ..easy to see if your looking at the video..
Sheesh !!!
And that last bass note is why they call Tim Dragon Breath.
Or, The BEAST !!!
This is the song that won them the Sing-Off TV show. They so blew away the judges it was over from when they did this one.
Home Free Butts Remix is my favourite. Also watching Tim blow out speakers when performing live lol.
Last low note was Tim, not Avi.
How about how Tim Foust sustained that last low note…unreal!! The harmonies and Adam Rupp’s beatboxing were amazing! Great reaction to my boys 🎉 I love Home Free😊
Tim from Home Free did last note and Avi took his hat off to him!!
Tim Foust can reach five octaves with his voice. That’s insane.
HOME FREE also does this song on The Sing-Off where Tim goes even lower 👇
You guys have just created an amazing comedy bit with the "friend that can't sing" idea... I can actually visualize a Key and Peele skit in my head.
Agree! Funny as hell idea...I wonder if he could poke the fire rhythmically? Sparks on cue...
If you would like to hear Adam Rupp who is Homefree's beatboxer/ vocal percussionist live he has a drum solo video out on youtube that is live. Please give it a listen. And that low low bass note at the end was Tim Foust from Homefree. Thank you for your reaction!
Watching Mike smile in the background was awesome.

F-ing dying laughing at your first commentary break. 😂😂😂
Tim was the last note. Not Avi. He hit an octave lower than Avi ever hit
There is a version of his live. In the Sing Off
Ok that first pause had me belly laughing man I needed that, killer song of course but that first back and forth on your first pause had me
The final note was not Avi it was Tim.
Home Free are amazing! They are “country “ but so much more! Check out anything by them and you won’t be disappointed!
SUP FELLAS! Great stuff! KEEP EM COMING! Much love from Florida!

Most people don't see how Avi smiles and takes his hat off to Tim. He puts on a vowhat , Tim is from Texas.

True. However the lowest note was Tim Foust. And Avi tipped his hat to him when he did it.

It was actually 2 years after PTX. The show took a one year hiatus and then came back for a final 2 seasons, due to PTX'S success.
Tim from Home Free was the last note. Avi did the tenor end
wasnt Avi that did that last note it was Tim Foust , from Home Free
I would think these dudes prolly don’t have much problem gettin’ Da Ladies 😜
“Go _really _*_low,_* Avi!”

This is a great cover of Johnny Cash.
I remember listening to JC singing this song at least 60 years ago.
When you asked for live versions, I can't help but ask... why didn't you watch the live version? BTW the beat box in the live version is impressive.
Avi Kaplan did not get replaced he resigned so he could do some solo work! He has released a solo album😁. ✌❤T.NoBoDY

This song gives me ptsd from when we would do a work out in football ⚽️ and they would play the song while we were doing it
Killed it
Do Adam rupps drum solo it’s live

Check out Home Free's 9 to 5, a live version. You'll like it!
It was Tim that last note, Avi showed respect for that note by swapping his beenie for the cowboy hat
Johnny Cash's wife June wrote this song
You should watch the video and hear the beat boxer Adam Rupp do a drum solo live.
Please do a reaction to home free mayday you'll be shocked
Great idea. You need to have reacted to quite a few other songs before Mayday so that you get 'it'. It's pretty amazing.
