I saw Top Gun Maverick in a 4DX movie and it was wild. During the opening scenes I felt a bit of motion sickness from the seats tilting and jerking with the jets taking off, but I got used to it after a few minutes. To me the experience feels more like a theme park ride and, while pretty cool with that move, would not me by go-to for every film.
I went to my local theatre and watched it on an IMAX screen. To be honest, I thought it way too loud! In fact, I had to pull the tissues out and shove them in my ears. IDK, maybe I'm just used to my audiophile living room atmos setup. One thing I do know I don't think I'll be going to my local theatre for a long time 😂
@@AntibackgroundnoiseThat’s a far too common occurrence these days that I think has little to do with the incredible amount of care with which modern soundtracks are crafted, and to me demonstrates a general lack of respect by the theatre operators for both the creators’ intent and the audience. Indeed it’s the primary reason I rarely attend cinemas at all these days - that, and the cost of snacks, and ability to pause playback for bathroom breaks😂 . My last theatre outing was for Avatar 2, for which over a decade since the first episode certainly baked a lot of anticipation bias into the experience - if it wasn’t for the 3D aspect, I definitely would have waited until available to stream on my 4K OLED and 7.2.4 home Atmos rig.
@@Antibackgroundnoise That's what I don't understand about many videos that say that they cannot hear the Atmos is because everything else is ramped to the tits and they have these massive woofers at levels that vibrate your eardrums. I find having my system's volume lower gives those pinpoint sounds and the heights are more noticeable. As for theaters. I find it is just constant noise. Watching movies in my 7.3.4 setup craps on what theaters offer in terms of sound.
Atmos means a channel placed high. Dolby digital 5.1 can give you the quality and effects you want. You don't necessarily have to have True HD 7.1. The thing is that dolby atmos, which they declare in movies, means that we get ambiance and special effect sounds from the speakers we place on top throughout the movie, but in most movies that claim to have atmos, one of them is Mad Max. There are almost no such effects and it does not contain ambient sounds. In a movie with real atmosphere, you should hear the sounds of the sky, the sound of the rain, and the sound track of the bird flying overhead, at least slightly. Film companies do not want to spend much time and money on this, but they do not hesitate to add that they are atmos to the phrase. Most UA-cam channels have also come to us and say that this movie has a very good atmosphere, but in the content they talk about the effects of the lower channels, they do not mention that since they do not fulfill their main duties in the upper channels, they are weak in this regard and most of them are zero. If you're talking about atmos, evaluate it that way.
absolutely! just watched it in my theater recently and you are very correct! It was so immersive and definitely added to my demos for friends and family!
I actually have a question about Atmos. I have the Hisense soundbar with Atmos my question is should Atmos be played at loud volumes for the up firing speakers to do their thing off the ceiling? I dont really notice it tbh
If the Atmos drivers in your soundbar have the option of raising their relative level you could try that. But a soundbar is always going to have compromises compared to separates, but they are a huge upgrade from the TV speakers. Thanks for watching
I have a Hisense Atmos soundbar (no rears), and it really doesn't give any sense of sound coming from overhead. However, I do find that it does present a "wall" of sound as though some of the effects are coming out a foot or two above the soundbar itself. And as Daniel mentioned, the sound is significantly better than my Samsung TV speakers.
i think bad boys ride or die will have a great atmos track attached to the 4k blu ray. Ive already pre ordered. Dune 2 might have my top spot for the year though.
The Island scene at the beginning is already testing the sound system to its limits. Forking amazing movie. Going to get it as well when the regular 4k comes out

Agreed!!

Seems like fun to try, but not worth it for every film. Thanks for sharing!!
Alien Romulus is phenomenal sound wise!
We've also heard good things! Will check it out!

Looking forward to the new Gladiator 2 film coming in November. I have a feeling that movie will have amazing Atmos sound.
Us too! Let us know what you think when it comes out!
The re-release of Gravity has a great Dolby Atmos soundtrack!
We've heard good things!!

I really want to see Twisters
It's a fun movie!
Just a handful from myself. Bob Marley: One Love, Kung Fu Panda 4, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and The Fall Guy.
Nice list! Thanks for sharing
Just downloaded Civil War from the Kaleidescape store last week. Can't wait to give it a watch this weekend!
Enjoy!!
You have links to these atmos movies I’m looking to get civil war ??
We can add them! We used Kaleidescape but most can be found on Amazon, Walmart or Target for the 4K versions.
Saw twisters in 4DX, the wind was the best part. Everything else felt gimmicky. That, and the motion of the seats barely keep your cup in the holder.
Thanks for sharing! We are sure things will progress over time!
can't wait to check some of these out!
Hope you enjoy!
Godzilla Minus One!
Thanks for the suggestion!!
The new A Quiet Place!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Nice review. Agree with prior comment want to hear what they do with Twister
Thanks!!

It doesn't matter with a soundbar my man. Just see it as your sound is better than just the TV's speakers.
If the Atmos drivers in your soundbar have the option of raising their relative level you could try that. But a soundbar is always going to have compromises compared to separates, but they are a huge upgrade from the TV speakers. Thanks for watching

Going to check out the 4k civil war thanks
It's worth it!!
@@AudioAdvice I have the 6014 marantz with a 2 channel amp for 7.2.4 for my little 9x9 mancave 😂 thanks
Great options! Saving this list!!
Enjoy!!

Good picks!
Hanna audio quality in Netflix is amazing
You bet! The sound on that one is superb.
Civil War was boring and had ok audio
We thought it was pretty good. Thanks for watching
I saw it on Max ,save your money, was okay
That theater is long enough it could use 6 overheads.
Since this is a demo theater we were trying to let people hear what is more typical, but yes, it could support 6. Thanks for watching
There is a new king. Godzilla Minus 1.
Thanks for the suggestion!!
