Your welcome I got interested in mushrooms watching Adam on learn your land a couple years ago then I found your videos and tried the bicolor boletus it really does smell like bullion haven't tried the candy apple yet.
this is a great and informative video thank you for producing it. Now, how do I cook them? I have cooked a lot of morels and oysters and pheasant backs but I have never cooked any of the staining mushrooms. Make a video on that please. Thank you for your time and sharing with us.
Just discovered your channel. Great video! Congrats on the Black Trumpets. I agree they're so hard to spot. I can only find them in moss or slopes devoid of leaves. I'm in Central western Michigan and your mushroom collection is so familiar. Hope you do a September video!
@@kelcritcarroll I'm about six miles east of Montague in Lakewood. Living in the oak woods...hoping this weekend's rain sprouts some Chicken or Hen of the Woods. I kind of depend on them for my winter's supply. Love the park behind Montague Foods and the record store there!

We live on just over 10 acres of woods that we have been taken down trees for our homestead. And right now I see lots of turkey tail then I found an orangeish yellow mushroom I posted about it on UA-cam but no one seems to know. Thank you for sharing. Till next time God Bless.
Love your videos! From SE Michigan here. Would love to tag along some time for identification (not looking to steal your spots.. looking to learn more!)
Hi David, mushroom that your wife picked in the beginning of the video is not orange mycena it frost bolete. I also live in Michigan, love to hunt mushrooms and others wild edible plants.
Yes . I was rambling about orange mycena being a favorite to see blooming . ( Not to eat ) . I eat Frost's Bolete , though it's better dehydrated first. I hunt southern Michigan weekly and northern Michigan several times a season . Which region do you frequent?
@@FoundYouForaging I'm in Holland, Michigan- I hunt all over Michigan it depends on the season. If morels season I go Gaylord, Petoskey and Boyne city, otherwise I normally hunt around my neck of the woods.

Nice finds. I live in Hillsdale county MI and have found a few decent mushrooms lately. If you’re anywhere near Hillsdale county is love to meet up and learn from you if that’s a possibility.

About 20 minutes after cutting the flesh will stain black . Being that both are edible it isn't a big mistake aside from it not tasting near as awesome as a hen. Hope your season is going well.
Michigan has awesome varieties. Also, don't bother making jerky from BSP, I have tried countless times in countless methods and it always came out like 💩
Please don't cut the mushrooms from the ground with a knife. The rest of it then rots in the hole and it can damage the mycelium. It's better to take out whole mushroom and cover the hole behind it to keep humidity underground :)

I love chewing on the tender tips from the black staining polypore once it's been dried. It almost taste like beef jerky naturally

So can you eat candy apple
Yes . I dehydrate most boletes first , including exsudoporus frostii.
The flavor is much better after dehydration

Were they all edible mushrooms??
The ones you seen harvested and those I discussed are Yes.
