      @@FoundYouForaging thank you so much. I’m going out on this rainy Sunday to see what I can find. I’m so glad I found your channel, I’ve learned so much thanks to you two. I live in southern Michigan also and am lucky to be in the Waterloo recreational area. Many wonderful areas to hunt. Thank you again😁

      @@FoundYouForaging I would love that. I found some turkey tails today but nothing else. I’ve hunted morels for 25 years now and know lots of good areas to find those and do very well every spring but this is my first year for fall mushrooms and not sure where to go to find certain ones.
      I’m free on the weekends and would love to meet you two and go hunting. We can meet up at the discovery center or somewhere by there and see what we can find. Thanks again and am looking forward to meeting you two😊

    Hey david! Forager from Southern Ontario here. I spoke to you in the comments a bunch last year. Looks like you are having a great year in Michigan! Here in southern ontario, the lack of rain is really messed up this season. The morels were super late and not as plentiful, and pretty much every other mushroom has been the same. For example, I think I have only found about 20 chanterels and 15 little hedgehogs this year! Not even too many cinnabar Chanterelle, and no cantharellus appalachiansis, barely any puffballs either. other favorites like lactarius hydrophoroides have been almost non-existent! Have you noticed the same thing in Michigan? Hoping we get a good inch of rain here so that more can come up! It's not too late yet, but I'm hoping the whole season isn't a bust like this. Thanks for the great videos, you both do a great job.

      Drought through the spring and summer created a tough season across Michigan,New York and Maine.
      There are areas in Michigan where friends never found morels or Chanterelle.
      You are right, the season isn't over yet. I'm hoping things turn around before we are ice fishing.
      I've noticed in areas the winter mushrooms starting; which makes me think the fall season might
      Offer a broader range of species. We are seeing Enoki and Hericium already. The chants are few but we are finding them late.

      @@FoundYouForaging fingers crossed for some great hunting this fall! I think I was spoiled last year because of how great it was here - now I'm going through withdrawal! I still have only ever found one black trumpet. It's on my bucket list. Any tips to find them?

    • @FoundYouForaging

      @@joet81 I only find them in old growth oak / beech forest. Usually on well worn paths. Definitely check the spot you found one . They are tough to spot but should always return to same place. Keep me posted.

      @@FoundYouForaging I just remembered that last year you had said that you wanted to find lactarius indigo when we were chatting in the comments. I think you found some by the end of the year, I usually find a lot of them in Pine and Spruce forests on the edge, growing beside and under Punky wood. Just thought I would mention it

    I really appreciate you sharing with me what you know. I am new to walking the UP and mushrooms other than morels. Here the number of different kinds has really captured my interest. I harvest very few types at this stage but I sure enjoy looking at all the variety out there.

    • @FoundYouForaging
      @FoundYouForaging  Рік тому +1

      Right now we have neoboletus in two groups. Those associated with oak and those with Hemlock . I'm not aware of any poisonings from either oak living or hemlock loving scarletinas ( Neoboletus)

I'm a follower of urs now and look forward to other vids.. ..is it possible to pm u with pics if i have a question from up here ...?
