For Octane + C4D users!! The setup to create a similar effect is by using a Custom Texture node and set it to Normal. Play with the Normal type or Coordinate system options to tweak it to your liking. Plug it into a Channel Picker and select the G channel. Then plug that one into a ColorCorrection node to play with the gamma and contrast values. After all that, use this as a mask or to drive the amount of a mix or dirt node.
this is great help to spark inspiration. Now I am curious if there is a way to add clumps. Use the state and splitter to the displacement to add some clumps to the top of every face.. wonder if that is possible or add bad geo artifacts?!?!?! I will experiment!! thanks!!!
Yeah there is several way. You could even use Triplanar Y axis to add snow but it would be very sharp. There is many combinaison possible but the Color splitter + eventually a Ramp would do a good job I think
im trying to make a mask with AO node to create that gradient from top to bottom because state doesnt give the result i want, but it just doesn't work when i plug it into blend material. what am i missing?

In the Channel Picker node, playing with the conversion option will yield different results!
Excellent
looking good!
daaamn this helped me, i was trying to reach some snow but it wasnt good much
Thanks a lot, incredible tutorial :D
Merci Antoine pour les tuto Redshift ! N'hésites pas si t'en a d'autre en stock hahaha

Can you do it using the latest C4D with Redshift?

i see you
What does the "state"" node do?
How can you make the snow less or more? Is there a way?
PUT A RAMP NODE AFTER COLOR SPLITTER
