    Ohh, first video from her I see where she cuts to demo of what she’s talking about right after naming the movement. Much easier to follow along

    Ahh, now I get it. I am taking group lessons and the instructor generally says “do this”. It seemed that the force was from the knees and ankles. Now I see where the arms and hips come in.

    Oh man I think this is one of the things I've wanted to do since starting to skate! If i'm not mistaken, a lot of ice dancers and figure skaters work power pulls into their choreo sequences, and it always looks *so good*--such a natural and intuitive part of dance! And I've spent *months* trying to reason through in my head what they were doing--so good to have a name for it, steps to do it myself, and now the ability to go and learn more about this step on my own! Thank you!!

    Now I realize my mistake. I've been trying it merely by making slow turns without making any swift torso twists, basically trying to turn without making opposite arm/hip movements. That's why I couldn't do it before. I'll apply what I've observed to my next session.
    I skate twice a week, one day for an hour and the other day for 80 minutes.
    I always enjoy your tutorials. Very concise and detailed.

    I can do them all EXCEPT backwards on my weaker leg. Reviewing this video is helpful to break down where the power comes from. Since my one leg is very weak (slight deformity and injuries), I need technique to be perfect. I cannot "muscle it" through with bad form. Thank you!

    Hi Coach Julia.
    For your forward 1-foot pull, do you have to pull on each edge - if you follow an imaginary line and switch edges? Outside and inside edges?
    Thank you for the video. Always inspiring.

    • @CoachJulia
      @CoachJulia  2 роки тому +2

      Oh, thanks so much, it means a lot to me that you find my videos inspiring. To your question, yes, you want to try and pull on each edge. You will probably find that one edge is easier than the other, but keep working at it!
