    This is what the every PS4 Pro game should be doing. High Image Quality at 30fps and 1080p 60fps

    • @papachanka658
      @papachanka658 7 років тому +9

      Out Of Control Gaming why not have a machine capable of high image quality 60fps. Why should you settle for 30? I don't get console gamers at all, why are you proud that Sony keeps fucking you over. We have the technology to make 60fps the new 30. The PS4 pro is even out dated to the PC standards, but you all treat pc gaming like a plague. It just boggles my mind

    • @shurkou
      @shurkou 7 років тому +49

      because it only costs 400$
      you cant have everything at a really cheap price
      also many people appreciate the simplicity of consoles, you just pop the game in and play
      just looking at the fiasco of nier automata on pc should make you realize the advantages consoles have
      of course pc will always be the best experience in the end but most people are fine with console quality

    • @cc4405
      @cc4405 7 років тому +1

      shurko I agree people can prefer consoles, but you can get a similar or better PC for the same price so that argument isn't correct.

      C C it depends man i dont think i can get a pc as good as the ps4pro where i live, i mean an equal graphics card would already be like 1/2 of its price maybe 1/3 if you catch a sale

    what kind of black magic Deck 13 used to make a 7 GB AAA game!? That alone is just amazing. To think that Tales from Borderlands is about 10 GB is just insane.

    • @chestermc9954
      @chestermc9954 7 років тому +4

      I know right,only 12GB on PC where pretty much all new games take up to 50-60 GB.It's probably because they compressed the textures and audio,most developers avoid that in order to not fuck up the quality.

    • @buffalobill2742

      yeah, just like the team at Platinum, 40+ GB for Nier: Automata is simply crazy. It's a fantastic game, don't get me wrong but the graphics is just awful and they didn't even bother to voiced the whole conversation in that game. Plus, it can't even run properly on both console and pc.
      big applause for the tremendous efforts by Deck 13

    • @ShovelShovel
      @ShovelShovel 7 років тому +4

      size of how much space a game takes up really isn't any indicator of anything. take for example skyrim it was one of the largest in-game at the time but was only 5.5 GB. usually the biggest factor in what makes a game large are video files, usually pre-rendered cut scenes. nier uses some pre rendered cut scenes to mask loading screens and since they can fill a bluray why not encode the videoes at very high bitrate.

    Hey Guys! I've been watching you guys for a while now and always love your work. As much enjoyment as I get from your detailed look at the technical side of a video game, I feel the barrier of entry for enjoyment is quite high. While most of us watching these videos know what penumbra and motion blur are, we have to assume that there are people who don't. I'd love to see you guys do a series detailing the basics of the technical jargon and all the technical aspects of video games that you reference. Thanks for all your hard work. Cheers!

    • @Turniplord
      @Turniplord 7 років тому +8

      Randy Bradley well, it didn't. The 'install off disk' process is different to download and install.
      If playing on a disk the. It does a quick install 5-10 seconds. Then as you play the first time it will actually start installing as you play but run the data off the disk so you have the full game there. Once fully installed then the next time it's booted up it will use the installed version instead.
      If you download it lets you jump in as it's downloading, but because all the data isn't there, it has a cut off point for what you can do until it's finished.
      I think the only exception so far has been GTA 5 which makes you sit there and wait for ages while it fully installs everything before you can play it, even on disk

      It's honestly true. I've been working with the PS4 Pro's base architecture recently myself as an independent developer and it's incredible the amount of stuff it can do if you let the GPU do it's job and free up the CPU for a better performing game. Pray was an incredibly shoddy and lazy port which essentially had no optimisation for any system upon which it was released.

    • @Sendoh32
      @Sendoh32 7 років тому +3

    I'm really glad about this "choose your settings" thing that companies are introducing to the console market. Even though i play on pc and don't have an xbone or ps4, the trend that the industry is taking towards the consoles is good for everyone. The more options the better remember. It's not about the brand of box you put the disk in, it's about the experience it can provide, and these sorts of systems are big leap forward for all of us.

      Well, I wouldn't say that they are expensive, a RX 570 by now paired up with a Ryzen 5 or a i5 and 16gb of ram can make miracles.
      Altough what is really expensive imo is RAM nowadays due to the lack of supply power to feed the smartphone companies and business market.
      If Ram would have a "normal" price like seen on last year, it would be awesome.
      Anyway Deck13 made an excellent job with the PS4 Pro version.

    This is my problem. Sony said they created the PS4 pro to stop pS4 owners from going to PC as games become more and more demanding. Yet after extensive coverage the majority of these pro enhanced games operate at an abysmal 30 fps, when the games push a higher resolution the majority have frame pacing issues. In my opinion Sony really dropped the ball if their intention was to keep people away from PC. When even a budget PC with settings tweak can achieve 60fps the pro comes off as pure trash made by a clueless platfrom maker who didnt truly understand the market they were keeping their customers from.

      Standard for PC slightly dropped from what I remembered. Our CRT was slightly higher with refresh rate around 75hz. With proper graphic accelerator, PC games in the 90s were capping around 75FPS. Then LCD happened and you know the rest.

    This is what I like to see, real effort on all platforms and it's definitely a lesson other publishers and developers should learn from and from the looks of it, this game seems like it was well crafted around each platform, even the PS4 Pro and PC version and for that, I'm buying the game for PC even though I never heard of it until now but it looks like my kind of game.

    Well I thought the whole point was to have the highest resolution possible and still delivering 60fps. I guess that's what happens when you have a pro ...couldn't they do that trick with the so called checker board rendering? May be in the ps pro plus...I guess we're just gonna have to wait.

    Yes I'm absolutely loving The Surge. Sadly I need a Pro to get the "definitive" edition. Love the video, especially the tech specs behind the FLEDGE Engine. Keep it up dude

    The Pro is capable to output 60 fps on Battle Field One , Hitman , and Titan Fall 2 all run at native 1440p / 60 . I am a PC Hardcore Gamer and I have a high end gaming pc - I bought the pro linked to a 4k hdr 55 inch tv for its price its a very capable console. Checker Board = 1920 × 1080×2 = 1920 × 2160p base resolution which is a good jump on upscaled games too using the checker board technique. Boost mode added too some benefits to unpatched games for the Pro , with some additional fps on unlocked games. Great exclusives with some HDR awesomness make the pro a good deal.

    I was thinking to get this for the PC first (which is great PC game too) but due to the perfect implementation of PS4 Pro support I might go with that instead, real physical copy (yes that collecting shit).

    Obviously the best version of The Surge is the Xbox One version as it's rated 7 points higher than the ps4 version on metacritic. I bet the lack of screen-space reflections on the ps4 version has something to do with that.

    Why can't AAA devs like Naughty Dog & From Soft have 1080p/60fps modes yet this small dev can? Uncharted 4 sucks at 30fps after you played the 60fps remaster collection & don't even get me started on Bloodborne.

    • @weaverquest
      @weaverquest 7 років тому +16

      Ultizer Uncharted 4 is pushing graphics too hard to be able to run at 60fps even on pro. But multiplayer runs at 1080p/60fps which makes sense in my opinion push graphics for single player and push framerate for better reaction time on multiplayer. Bloodborne never had a ps4 pro patch.

    • @kevboard
      @kevboard 7 років тому

      FalloutPro21 well, tells a lot about your brain then. I simply hate them. they suck in 99% of games using them. it's all nice and dandy as long as you look at them from very specific angles... move the camera too far down and the reflection fades out, breaking the effect. if there is any object in front of it there will be artifacts due to missing information...
      sometimes stuff that is actually in front of a reflective surface reflects like if it were behind it...
      the issues with SSRs go on and on.. they are a terrible way of doing reflections, but they are cheap on the rendering budget and that's why they get used nowadays.
      they can work in conjunction with other techniques to complement them, but SSRs on their own suck ass, simple as that.
