  • Today I'm sharing my mom's Baked Oatmeal recipe. It's hearty, comforting, and customizable. Baked oatmeal is great to make ahead for a busy morning or for entertaining. Enjoy!
    Baked Oatmeal
    2 c. old fashioned oats
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/3 c. brown sugar
    1/3 c. raisins
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. applesauce
    1 egg, beaten
    2 Tbsp. butter, melted
    Preheat oven to 375*. In a large bowl, whisk together the oats, baking powder, brown sugar, and raisins. Add in the milk, applesauce, beaten egg, and melted butter and stir to combine. Grease an 8x8" glass baking dish. Pour the oatmeal mixture into the baking dish. Bake at 375* for 20-25 minutes until set in the middle. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. ENJOY!

    can't believe I'm almost 70 and never had baked oatmeal. saw it listed on restaurant menu and decided to research. now thinking pecans and or peanut butter would jack this up another level for me.

      I've been making a similar recipe to this for a couple years. It's one of the most versatile dishes I have ever made. You can literally substitute any similar ingredients and mix ins. I make both a sweet version with fruit and nuts and a savory version with sausage.

    I just made it. I used cinnamon apple sauce. That is all I had. Added 1/4 of chocolate chips along with the raisins. I also added 1 Tspoon of bourbon maple sugar just for the heck of it. I made lightly sweetened whipped cream to top it with. YUM.

      YUM!! My mother-in-law got me a big bottle of bourbon maple syrup from Costco a couple of years ago, and I used that up so fast-it was so good!
      Thanks for trying the recipe & sharing your results!

    I like to add spices instead of raisins. Sometimes I use maple syrup, or cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. Don’t add to raw mixture, add when you are going to reheat, just gives you a variety of options during the week.

    I've never had baked oatmeal before but I'm going to try this recipe and I'll probably add just a little cinnamon and maybe pecans or walnuts as well. Thank you for the recipe

    I love this idea! Two questions: Can you use Steel Cut Oats? I have some quick cooking steel cut oats from Trader Joes. I like steel cut over old fashioned. Also can this be frozen? I was thinking to cut into portions and freeze for a weekday easy breakfast idea for work. This looks so good and easy too!

      Well, I’ve never tried it, but according to Google there are several freezer friendly baked oatmeal recipes out there so it sounds like you could freeze it! Also, I think quick cooking steel cut oats would work just fine if that’s the texture you like 👍🏻

    Hi Anne, I had never heard of Baked Oatmeal until a recipe came up on my Facebook page. I made it and it was delicious! The recipe I used did not call for egg or milk and it turned out more like cake. Everything else was the same. Once it cooled completely I cut it just like a piece of cake. The next time I am going to use Cinnamon Applesauce as my recipe called for Cinnamon. I also plan to use Chocolate Chips. Did you say earlier that your expecting? I could be thinking of another UA-camr. Love your recipe.

      This recipe is more just like a bowl of oatmeal 👍🏻 I’m not currently expecting, but I did just have my fifth baby last October!

    I have a question about baking my everyday oatmeal. I don’t need anything fancy like raisins, eggs etc. All I want is oats, sugar, water, a bit of butter. I don’t want it to taste like a dessert, basically, I just want an ordinary baked oatmeal, without involving the microwave or the stovetop. Do I still need to bake 20min @375F?

    • @AnnesFamilyRecipe
      @AnnesFamilyRecipe  Рік тому

      Hi! I can’t say because I haven’t tried your version, but it sounds delicious. I honestly just cook 1/2 cup oats with 1 cup water in the microwave for 2 minutes when I want to keep it simple!

    • @AnnesFamilyRecipe
      @AnnesFamilyRecipe  Рік тому

      So if you’re baking…just check it periodically to see if the oats are done? Might be a bit of an experiment!

      My kids and I enjoy the recipe as is but you can definitely modify it with extra mix-ins!
