Hey people! You know I love to cook with my kids so here I am making my alltime favorite recipe for amish baked oatmeal! It's a great amish recipe and It seriously taste so good it could be a dessert... and with the amount of sugar in this thing, it probably is. haha

Only three years late to this, but my word!!! This is now a crowd favourite in our house. But I added a handful of frozen raspberries and they make it 💯. We’ve been eating it warm with a dollop of coconut yogurt. Thanks so much for sharing Kim!

I come back to this every time I have a baby, or when a family member has a baby😍 I make a bunch and a casserole for a new mommy basket. I do coconut and chocolate chip for a almond joy and then plain and they’re a hit

I just happened upon this video, and made this recipe using 4 eggs because I was trying to offset the amount of sugar :o). I also ended up using brown swerve instead of actual sugar (to make me feel a little better about it ;o)), and coconut oil. I found that it took closer to 50-55 minutes to bake in a 8x8 pan, probably due to the two extra eggs. I also added a cup of sliced frozen bananas, cinnamon, and nutmeg, because- why not?!? Anyway, it smelled amazing cooking and tasted so good! Thank you for sharing this recipe, but also, and perhaps even more so, for sharing the fun and joy of being a Mom! My kids are all grown and gone. and have kiddos of their own, and this video has just made me miss cooking with and for them! God Bless you!

uhhhh Have you ever tried buying almond paste (it's so expensive, but so good) and buying puff pastry, and shoving the paste into the pastry... then topping w/ slivered almonds? ... drooling now. It's so good. lol
I just made this. Love it. Is the oatmeal supposed to be soft or a little firm? I can't tell if I under cooked it. I didn't want to overcook it either. Love to watch your sweet family.

So I was looking for baked oatmeal and I came across your video which I have never seen Wentworth as a baby. He is so stinking cute and I have your Amish baked oatmeal in the oven as we speak.
Love these recipe videos. I made your banana bread recipe (my first time) only to realize I didnt have a loaf pan so they turned into delicious mini muffins!! Please keep doing these. Also would you mind showing what the baked oatmeal looks like on a plate, I was wondering if this is more of a casserole and holds together of if it becomes loose when served.
Glad you liked it!! Banana muffins are just as delicious! This oatmeal casserole doesn't really hold together, it pretty much falls apart (when warm-- it will hold together if it's cold) My hubby likes to eat it with milk.

Why is this so good? Seriously, this recipe is like crack. Amazing! I think you are responsible for a few pounds that I've put on over the course of the past month :). But, in all seriousness, my friends are big fans of potlucks, and I'm looking forward to a pot-luck brunch just so i can bring this bad boy!

Oh nuts!! Glad you liked the banana bread! My brother made some yesterday his recipe called for 1 1/2 sticks of butter, sour cream and 1/2 more sugar than mine.. so you can imagine how much better it was... haha!!

haha! Oooh #postpartummomthoughts - I had a stomach bug the other day, throwing up everything I ate for the past 2 weeks it felt like, and all I could think was,.. am I going to be able to nurse Wentworth?! lol
Oh my goodness!! Stomach bugs are the worst!! Hope you're feeling better!! I had a friend who had the flu when she delivered her baby!! The doctor said the baby wouldn't get the flu if the mom were to nurse. Baby never got the flu or got sick!! BUT I would be just like you- wondering if I'd be able to feed the baby!!
I think I'm going to make this for breakfast tomorrow morning, I have a LOT of oats to use up, courtesy of my mother in law who suddenly doesn't eat them anymore (something with the paleo diet? idk). Anyway thank you for suggesting the screenshot!! I've done it with other stuff but not videos because I don't think it ever even occurred to me!😩

Just go without, almond flavor doesn't actually taste like almonds.

Late to this party...I live in PA and love most Amish recipes. I thought you said you had family in PA...was wondering where?
I have family in Harrisburg, Hershey, and Mifflintown :) Most amish recipes are AWESOMEEE mostly because they're full of sugar and fats! haha
THE WADS I'm less than 2 hours from Hershey. :) (for perspective I'm 30 min south of State College (Penn State Univ)).
You're correct about the Amish and their fats and sugars (but they need that kind of diet because of all the physical work they do!)

Once it's cool, what's the consistency? Set like...a giant granola bar/oatmeal cookie? It looks delicious!
It's pretty solid, but I like to crumble mine around and break it up - so really it can be malleable.
