The way I saw Bismuth's debut episode was the idea of the dangers of extremism and getting too violent. Yeah, it's easy to say you have a weapon to kill the Diamonds, but if you can kill them, what's stopping you from killing anyone else who disagrees with or opposes you? When Steven criticized Bismuth, she immediately accused "Rose" of supposedly forcing her to fight back. When you're a soldier, it's easy to see any kind of opposition as a situation where you have to fight back, because that's what you're used to doing.
For some reason everyone hates Bismith’s song in the movie, but I actually really like it. I don’t know what people mean about her having a “bad” singing voice?
Nice to see this video is back up. And just because I'm mad at YT for taking it down in a first place I'm gona re-do my comment on the diamonds' "redemption". When I studied the Merchant of Venice I truly understood the diffrence betwin a redeemed Villan and a villan who just regrets his actions. In the play Shylock dose some terrible things even if he had a good motivation for it, never the less his punshiment is deserved, but Shylock never regrets is actions because they were wrong, he regrest them because he got punished for them. The same applays to the diamonds, if their actions had never affected them in a negative way they wouldn't have try to mend their mistakes, on top of that they had an added incentive to do that since it ment they could be colse with the only thing left of Pink. The Diamonds gained only benefits from changeing their ways and Steven knows that, in SU Future and in the film he treats them like those relatives you see only at family dinners, than have done some bad stuff in the past but now their a re chill so it would be kinda rude to not talk to them, but at the same time you don't want to give them too much confidence. Also the death penalty thing dosen't realy applay to diamonds in the same way it dose to humans, evry man dies with a bullet in the head, but what scratches a diamond could be fatal to a normal gem. Pink even as the weekest diamond probably was head and shoulders above the rest of the gems in terms of power, so just immagen what would be needed to shatter White, the way Steven handled the sitiation was the only way it could truly be handled.
Even though if Bismuth’s plan went through to assassinate the Diamonds, the Cure for the corruption wouldn’t have been made (all 4 diamonds had to sit down in roses Felton) But at the time both she and the rest of the crystal Gems had to idea of the fact that all 4 Diamonds are needed to creat the Cure for the Corrupted gems. Dose anyone have any thoughts on my argument?
That is a fair point to make, and something than should have been hightligthed more in the video. Yet the Bismuth incident was the spark to ignaite a growing conflict inside Steven, he started to question if shattering was truly the right thing to do since even Rose had to do it at one time from his POV. Ultimaty NOT shattering the Diamonds was the right thing to do but for not only because they were the cure for the corruption but also because they were too powerfull to shatter in a first place. All the Crystal gems had to strugle just to make Blue fall, and Neither Blue or Yellow probably have a chance against White, so Stevn had to deafeat them in a non-violent way. When people make the argument Diamonds=N4z1s they tent to froget than a N4z1 is still a person of flesh and bone while Diamonds are probably the most powerfull beeings in the universe you can't exatly comapre the two and saying than the right way to handle one is the same way to handle the other.
@@nuotatorre8741 not to get political but, to give you a comparison to what Steven is trying to achieve with the Diamonds is, if the United States came up with a plan to stop ww2 by making a peaceful Diplomacy thing with the 3rd ritch and shake Adolf hitler’s hand in agreement, what would you make the ‘Plan’? I ask this question because in my Objective opinion, I find Rebecca’s “Hopepunk” ideology of redeeming the Diamonds (the diamonds being a meta-for for A Group of people who’s Ideology is based around Bigotry) is Unrealistic. Because the diamonds should be a hold accountable for there Crimes.
Like I say in the video, this comparison is not apt specifically because the Diamonds are Gems. The reason why is because gems, unlike humans, are confined basic frameworks and by design, their design is made so that they have to stick to it and, when they don't, they're seen as defective. Ruby and Saphire had the roles of a bodyguard and a clairvoiyant and were seen as defective by the diamond authority by fusing. Pearl had the role of a servant and Amethyst had the role of a fighter until they were seen as defective in those roles (as said by Jasper) Peridot had the role of serving the diamonds and was seen as defective by objecting to Yellow's demands While we, from Steven's perspective, see this as not the case, the diamonds never get this realization (or have even been given the chance of this realization) until Change Your Mind. Because this is how it has always been as far as the diamond authority was concerned, it's not comparable to other conflicts like the 100 year war, the takeover of Lord Dominator, or even ww2. For all of these, there were eras before these takeovers that the people leading the conflict decided to go against. Before Ozai's ancestor started the 100 year war, the four nations lived in harmony. Before Lord Dominator took over, planets across the galaxy lived in harmony and so on and so forth. There wasn't anything before the diamond authority for any gem to consider as valid. I hope this helps!
@@FreezingClimber okay but in my objective opinion, Steven still needs to “Slap them on the Wrists” and to make them a hold Acountable for there crimes against there own kind, do you remember when Steven and garnet discovered what Home-world Did to the Captured Crystal gems during the Rebellion? @@robbie_the_mastermind2176 Steven indeed holds them accountable. It's why they spend the movie and future showing that they go throughout the galaxy, ending their reign and fixing what they've done. There's also the fact that shattering is completely unnecessary when bubbling exists. I don't know why no one brings that up.

People didn’t like her song?? How??
@ Song rankings for the movie always have it low and they often complain about her singing voice. 😞
Bismuth is literally played by a Broadway music star...wtf...
She has an amazing voice though, what the hell?
