    Great idea. Definitely going to concider this. Just one question...the usb/voltmeter...why not put where the vent valve is under the handle? Thank you in advance.

    Do you find that the voltmeter/usb port drains the battery or do you disconnect the batteries when not in use?

      Hey Ryan, I don't notice the effect of the USB port. With 2 lithium batteries I have plenty of power.

    forgive my ignorance, how do you charge those 12v batteries for the fish finders??

      Hey Zac! They are charged using a separate charger with alligator clips on it

      @@MatthewMazFishing Could I just use like a car trickle charger? Or would that take way too long to charge? Any suggestions on what I should look for when getting one? Thanks so much! :)

    Hey matt did that gimbo mount come with the helix 7 or did u have to purchess it seprate btw great video

      Hey Kyle, are you referring to the mount that the hummingbird unit is directly attached to? That mount comes with the fish finder however the Ram mount (the arm with the two balls that hook into it on both ends) was purchased separately, they are fairly easy to find!

    Does having both batteries on the one side make it carry awkwardly? Just was thinking of making the same sort of one but maybe putting the batteries so that they are balanced

      It’s definitely weighted more to one side! It was the best way I could make everything fit and I dont really carry the unit around all that much so I dont mind it like that.

    Sick setup Matt! My last ice setup i had a video fish finder. Similar setup as yours except i installed the screen on the inside part of the lid. Very clean setup just open and screen is your lid turn on drop the camera/transducer and fish. I had a folding 90degree bracket on the side to keep the lid open at 90 degree. It was like a laptop pretty much 😂. Goodluck slay them lakers bro👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼🔥🔥🔥🎣

    That was awesome to see Matt. Thanks for sharing that. Your cell phone needs a charge too at the end, nice steelhead on the screen BTW.
    Left a big 👍from the North.

    Hey matt, old vid but just wondering if you found a big difference between the helix 5 and 7?

    • @MatthewMazFishing
      @MatthewMazFishing  4 роки тому +1

      Hey david! To be honest, the extra 2” of screen is a lot easier on my eyes and its more clear because everything is slightly larger. For the slight price difference, id go for a helix 7 over a helix 5 myself.

    Nice video Matt! I've been thinking about making up a box myself. Question - did you have any problems/worries about the Humminbird gimble mount breaking when it was attached to the outside of the box - eg. in transport on the way to your fishing spot?

      Hey mike, with the way i organize my stuff in my sled I had no issues myself, im also pretty tough on my gear. however given it is outside, it’s possible for it to become damaged
