Dude, that is a beast. That walleye was huge. Big fish like that deserves to be released, good job Matt. Very happy for you. 👍
Adrian
Thanks adrian! Always appreciate the support. You cant keep a fish like that. It deserves to swim another day!
@@MatthewMazFishing also it would taste like shit.. thing is pobably 15+ years old..
Live the video 📹 nice fish 🐟 👌 👍
Thank you!
Great video, my heart sank when I saw that hook pop out. CONGRATS on a Simcoe walleye. They are truly rare but always rarely HUGE. KEEP EM COMING
LOL my heart dropped to man. it was insane
As a fellow filmer I appreciate the work you did for the vid. The cuts, the drone, you name it! Also nice fish!!
Thank you kevin! It all takes time but the final product ends up looking sweet👌🏻
So awesome Matt! Loved your excitement on this one! "Feels like a wet sock"... Yup... that's a walleye for ya. Congrats on a great one!
LOL i was used to head shakes!! It pulled in pretty darn easy! But i was in complete disbelief. Thanks for the support and kind words🙏🏻
@@MatthewMazFishing I've caught very few walleye through the ice but I've caught a bunch elsewhere and I always feel the same. I feel the hit and then I feel like I'm dragging in a wet sock! LOL You're getting close to 1000 subs... congrats!
Im just up from bear point. In my 30 yrs ice fishing ive never seen or heard of a walleye being caught.
Thats sick ! One you wont ever forget
I dont think i'll ever forget that fish.
I caught a walleye in 2001 in between georgina and Thorah islands in 40 feet of water. We didn't have a scale so we weighed it we got back to Michigan 2 days later and it came in at a whopping 14 pounds. After I pulled it out of the hole I was shaking so bad like I shot the biggest Buck in my life. By far the biggest walleye I've ever caught.
Awesome video - great job. I was on Simcoe today. No whities but got a few jumbos. Keep up the great work, I dropped you a thumbs up and joined your channel. Cheers!
hey Andrew, You'll learn to dial them in, it takes time! im still learning myself! Thanks for the support, I truly appreciate it :)
awesome my man! That's a catch of a lifetime! So happy you took so much time getting him rejuvenated and ready to go. I gotta get me a sled lol
Thanks jason, and ya man, a fish like that needs a minute to catch its breath! Having the sled is a treat for sure🙏🏻
Nice video brother...wish you best of luck this season.
Thank you so much! I wish you luck as well!
So glad to see you catch and release, specially that huge walley !

Nice walleye, and a not so common catch for Simcoe. Very cool, Congratulations!
Thanks peter😁
Solid walleye dude. Glad you released him !
Thank you! and to keep a fish like that just wouldn't be okay. Plus, ive got it all on video!
Not just that it is also to big to keep because of the hight regulation and walleye are rare in that Lake as well I will never keep walleye in Lake Simcoe
Wooooooooooow! I was out on Simcoe blind fishing all day today and caught a 4 inch perch, tried different areas all over lol
nice catch!!!!thanks for Sharing the experience!!!
Thanks for watching!
what a coincidence. A guy at work showed me that walleye bit about a week ago. Today, i watched your 2019 fishing/boat show video where you talked about natural sports and Laurier, not knowing it was the same youtuber.
Its a small world man! Thanks for the support🙏🏻
SUBSCRIBED!! Keep making great videos dud congrats on that big eye!! HUGE!!!

Thanks for the support bro! haha
Unreal catch man. That’s what I dream for!
Never thought it would happen, she's down there somewhere for someone else to catch!
Awesome Job!! Great fish! Cool video too!!
Thank you!!
Wow
BEAUTY!! So glad you released him! I wonder why they're so rare in Simcoe... seems like there is a lot of food for em, that guy was FAT!
From what i understand, we’re seeing the last run of the survivors of an unsuccessful stocking program... i feel like we’re beginning to see more and more of them though, it’ll be interesting to see what happens in the next 5-10 years
@@MatthewMazFishing That's interesting, I never knew they used to once stock em. Hopefully the ones left can spread their seed, the one you caught is in amazing condition. That's the kind of genetics we need
@@fishmonkesus Thats what I've been told, ive also heard they made their way through the Trent from the kawarthas. It'd be interesting to know where they came from forsure!
@@MatthewMazFishing That's not true. Wally's were always natural to Simcoe. When I was a kid my grandparents would take me to see them at their spawning grounds in the spring and it was just black with them like Lake O tribs with salmon. They knew where the fish were because my Grandma had grown up nearby. Like any run of fish with a centralized limited spawning ground, they were easily overfished. There has been a limited stocking program to try to preserve what left of the stock. It was cancelled due to MNR budget cuts. Also partly because natural numbers were so limited females from the natural stock were hard to find and more valuable left to natural reproduction.
Sick catch man!!!
Thank you! Love the username hahaha
That's a monster catch man! Teach Mitch how to catch something 😂. Also great vid, keep it up!
LOL its tough when he says he cant go cause hes tired! he was supposed to come that day!!
@@MatthewMazFishing 😂
Best ice fishing on simcoe here is always the first of the season. 3 to 4 inches of ice.
Then it seems to be a slump ! For a month !!! Lol
Always pearch in cooks bay tho. Buckets !
Looking forward to 2021 season out there
First ice and last ice is always hot!
Absolutely insane dude ...🤞🤞
it was nuts!!
Caught it with your hands, illegal lol. Wow never seen one before thanks for sharing the video .
My pleasure! Im in disbelief i got it on film!
Nice release!!!
Thanks James! she deserves to swim another day
Man that is amazing. Congrats on the unicorn.
Thanks dave! 🙏🏻 it was a unbelievable moment
Congrats and awesome video and most of all a true angler with common sense to understand the importance of a successful release for such a great species, what a fatty !!!
Thanks Jim! It's definitely important to make sure they're revived properly.
You made me smile man. Fucking well done!
Thank you! glad I could put a smile on your face!
Great catch my dude ;)
Thanks man!
You'd think you were on the BOQ lol, solid fish 👌
right!? freaking toad!!
Wowwww. Great catch!
Thank you!
Beautiful fish good job
Thanks 👍
nice job and on camera thats unreal.
That's awesome man!!!! I assume you were on the east side of the lake???? I hear that you can get them around Brechin but haven't been out that way. I live on the west side so it's easier for me to fish there. Congrats and good video. Keep it up, I'll be watching them
Thanks for the support! Unfortunately I dont share my spots but ive heard of them caught all around the lake!
Never asked for your spot. It's a big Lake. Just mentioned the side of Lake Simcoe.
wow what an amazing fish!! I’ve been fishing on Simcoe twice this summer and have yet to catch anything but I always have luck ice fishing there!
Thank you Elise! It can be a very difficult lake to fish. That walleye was an incredible catch, but by no means was it intentional... mostly luck! Lol
great catch. wouldn't be trying to pull that out by the line tho
Wasn't my best idea 😅
There is a population of fish in the lake. They run up the Talbot river in the spring
Ive heard that. They must all be tanks lol
That is awesome!
Thank you!
Great job man
Thank you so much!!
so friggin awesome, congrats
Thanks ryan!
Great walleye!!
Thanks Max!
i only know one guy who caught a walleye on Simcoe good job
Just Subbed buddy! Awesome video bro
Thanks mike🙏🏻😁
Sick video bro...Lets get out sometime this summer for bass.
thanks man! hit me up this summer and we'll see if we can plan something :)
I need to start blowing my nose on the ice more.. maybe I'll catch a fish hahaha
its key!! LOL
Did u get a length on it? Unreal fish, what a tank!
Sadly i didnt😓 probably 28-33 inches but i’ll never know!
good job matt
Thanks Sooley!
Good work releasing that breeder !
Thank you!
Awesome video ....where abouts on Simcoe were you ? Just subbed
Hey! Thank you very much for the kind words and subscribe. Unfortunately i dont share my spots due to the number of people that see these videos. The video shows im in 25 feet though. Theres whitefish scattered all over the lake though! I Hope that helps a bit😁
Matthew Maz Fishing Roger that i hear ya. Just wondering can you at least tell me. Beaverton? Or Innisfil ? Kempenfelt? Jacksons point. Broader spectrum lol
I wish they would stock Simcoe with a few million walleye - what a fishery that would be....
Right!? They tried and it was unsuccessful i believe, but boy would it be cool!
Damn she’s a tank
Thanks austin!
Would be no good to eat anyway, probably at least a 15 year old fish easily. Thanks for not taking pictures for half an hour outside while the eyes and gills freeze! Nice release, way to wait for it to be ready to go on its own. That female could lay millions more eggs now.
I hope she does. It'd be wicked if we started seeing more eyes in the lake!
Wow dude congrats! Who ever disliked this video is the biggest most jelly HATER!
LOL love it man hahaha thanks for the support
Are they rare in simcoe?
They are very uncommon. Dont get me wrong, people catch them, but you cant really target them. I believe we are seeing the remaining fish from an unsuccessful stocking program, although I may be wrong.
Me andmy girlfriend were just talking about walleyes on lake Simcoe
Wow man that's insane!! Great catch 🤗 how deep and where abouts on the lake were you, I'm having the worst luck with white fish
Hey Arthur! Thanks for the comment! I was in 25 feet of water. However, I do not share my location due to how often im asked. If you go to local bait shops, they often have good intel, or i’d suggest hiring a guide. We have lots of amazing guides on lake simcoe who have an extremely large amount of information not only on how to find fish, but on how to make them eat. The amount of knowledge you can gain is insane and in my opinion, worth the money if you’re struggling.
@@MatthewMazFishing in true fisherman response! 🤣🤣 thanks for the info I'll deff look into a guide and look forward to more content!
Gotta get wet with a fish like that, lucky lucky
Very Lucky indeed!
11 pounds...what!?!
Yes! It was a tank!!
Usually the bigger walleye are the females and the smaller ones are males. The one you had was a female and this time of year they are usually full of eggs. Good thing you let her go so she can lay her eggs and keep lake Simcoe walleye habitat. But that was an awesome catch. Glad you recorded that.
Thanks for the info! And ya i cant believe i got it on film either!!
You fucking beauty
Thanks bro!!
That's not rare if you know where to fish for them
cannadan exactly!!
Pro Tip: If you want to release a trophy fish and ensure that it survives, DON'T hang it vertically by its neck/gills. Imagine being lifted up by a giant who is holding you with one of his fingers right underneath your jaw and the weight of your entire body is being hung off your jaw/neck......
Thanks for the info, i will keep it in mind
