2010 Genesis Coupe 2.0T oil catch cans
Showing you the correct flow of air that the hoses connect to the cans.
For both Bk1 & Bk2 turbo models
This process will work with any oil catch can whether it’s a high end Mishiomoto oil catch can or a basic one off Amazon.
The catch cans that I used were bought off Amazon they are the “Evil Energy” if you use this brand make sure you buy the blue ones as they are the only ones with a baffle that screw off and can open in half so that you can add steel wool as the filter! I learned this the hard way as I had to do multiple returns of the product because the baffles would not open In half.
You want to make sure as well that the catch can fittings are the correct sizes. For this model car you will need 1/2in and 3/8in fittings
The fuel line hoses are as well 1/2in and 3/8in you want to be sure to get fuel line hoses from your local auto parts store.
As for the heat reflective tape you can grab that as well to wrap around the catch can on the turbo side of the car!
Any question leave in the comment section below.
I kept confusing the intake and exhaust manifold sides in This video so any new watchers please note!
•The intake manifold is the right side of the car and the exhaust manifold is on the left side where the turbo is!•
I kept switching the 2 in this video calling the intake manifold the exhaust. Sorry for my mistake!!
This guy took 1:24 min to explain something that takes others 30 min , you’re the man
Straight to the point. Thanks man
straight to the point no 30min bullshit like other videos thanks
Great video, my idiot self had them the other way around😂 I’ll switch them in the morning
So on the intake turbo side i got the V3 cacth can, the outlet connects to the intake and inlet connects to the valve cover?
Yes. So for your catch can(most of them of course) the inlet side is where the filter is. So you’d want to place the hose coming from the valve cover (pcv vent, crankcase vent) which ever you call it by, to the Inlet of your catch can. Then the outlet is gonna connect to your air intake. It’s gonna be the same also if you have an air intake that isn’t the stock one. Hope this helps!
@@AphexHaw3k got it thks 👍
Yo which catch cans did u buy can u send a link pls?
any advice on fitting the catch can by the fuse box? i cant get mine to fit like that
Left side or right?
@@AphexHaw3k right side, currently trying it on the left side now
I just wonder any updates on how this catch can working good? I’m interested purchasing same catch can for my genesis. Thank you!
Still have my genesis and the catch cans in. They work like a boss. I empty them
Out every oil change which I do every 3000 miles and they only fill up less than halfway. Get them for your genesis one of the first mods I did when I got mine
@@AphexHaw3k Your video was very informative and straight to the point btw. Very helpful. Thanks
Hey man where’d you get the brackets for the setup? Also, is that the same mounting hardware that come with the catch can?
Got the brackets from Home Depot or any parts store. Just look for “L” brackets. And no it’s not the same hardware that came with the catch can. I had to drill holes into the brackets to get them to fit on the car and can
@@AphexHaw3k also I have a K&N cold air intake on my car. It’s an automatic so I have one of the vent fittings plugged into the intake tube so would I just unplug it and fit the oil catch can to it with the fuel line? Guess idk if I would need half inch fuel line to connect it to that intake too since it’s a different intake too
is it necessary to run 2 oil catch cans? or can I just run 1?
one is fine but 2 is best. if you're gonna run with 1 catch can its best to place it on the intake manifold side of the car. So on the drivers side of the car Like i have it in the video. I find that when it comes to clean them out at every oil change, the right side can always have a bunch more than the left side can
Hey I know responce chances are low but can you think of any reasons it would be a bad idea to mount/hang a can off the strut bar?
@@sporkinstien6571 the strut bar where ? Are you talking about the bar that goes across the engine bay ?
what kind of filter in the catch can did you use on the turbo side?
Steel wool. But I used corse wool cause fine steel wool has a chance to be picked up through the air
@@AphexHaw3k Gotcha, I am running the same thing steel scrubbers but noticed my idle was rough with both catch cans installed, I removed the turbo side and it runs better but maybe it ran rough because of the cold weather, what do you think?
where’s your blow off valve?
It’s on the left side of the car right behind the air intake tube. This is a Bk1 model so it’s lowered on the Intercooling pipe opposed to the Bk2 models where the bov is right on the top of the Intercooler pipe
@@AphexHaw3k ahh true yeah because i’m having issues getting the second catch can on the intake side because of it
Link for the catch cans you have?
These should do you good. The breather valve is optional and it comes with a stopper that screws on if you want it or not !EVIL ENERGY Polish Baffled Universal Oil Catch Can Reservoir Tank Breather Filter Kit with 3/8" NBR Fuel Line Aluminum Blue www.amazon.com/dp/B08936HDF1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dl_PK6Q531C58KHZ0WHMSR2?psc=1
@@AphexHaw3kso can I use these for my 3.8?
Im sorry im just confused about you description. Why would only a certain color open up. That makes absolutely no sense are you sure about that. All the products are listed as the same with no discrepancy on if they open up or not.
So the catch cans I got from the brand Evil energy come in 3 colors black red and blue. I originally bought 2 black catch cans from them and the baffle filter didn’t open in half to add in the steel wool. The baffle was actually welded together. I returned them and I contacted them about the problems and the company stated that some of their baffles come welded together and some of them are able to unscrew in half to add the wool. They also stated that their blue catch cans all come with a baffle that is able to unscrew. It makes no sense why they would design them like that but it is what it is. If you look at the reviews on Amazon for the product there are other buyers who state the same problem. Hope this helps!
@@AphexHaw3k Okay huh thats kinda odd but definitely good to know! Thank u brotha stay safe!
