Living here and seeing the mountain is always incredible! Washington state is beautiful. Have lived here 70 years. My son hikes the Mountain every Saturday he can. Lots of Goats and marmots too.

Mt. Rainier used to be my backyard and i sure do miss seeing her MAJESTY every day ❤ . Live up on the Olympic Peninsula now and see the Olympic Mountains instead. Can't compare because they are both so special but there is just something so MAGICKAL about "Madame Rainier".
At that elevation I'd have trouble getting out of the van and you hiked!! Years ago I drove to Boulder, CO and thought I was having a heart attack. You are amazing!!

I lived at the base of Mt Ranier for many, many years. We regularly hiked, camped and day tripped the mountain and area.❤ Cross the Mt at one of the passes and go to the Grand Coulle Dam and Leavenworth (German village) area. Lots of camping opportunities. So much beauty in WA.

I have started getting out of my van and walking around a little as you have encouraged me and shown me even a little of the trail is better then none of it. We love to go for drives and we have booked a weekend in Charlevoix near Traverse City, Michigan. We are Canadian, living in Windsor so it’s not too far of a drive for us. We are 55 but my knees are bad and I think of all you’re doing. You go girl! It’s awesome!,,,,

I always look for the "handicap/accessible" trails ... and on rare Occassion will venture to an "easy trail for this reason! haha! Also, walking sticks are really helpful in conserving energy and helping you navigate.

Birdie, thank you for sharing! I have lived in the Olympia area for 14 yrs. I moved from Hawaii to here and have always been afraid to hike due to bears and cougars…..no big predators in the islands! (okay, maybe sharks but easy to navigate) You have, by your courage and example convinced me to get out there and explore my beautiful surroundings!! Safe travels my friend, I absolutely love your channel and all you bring to it! ❤
Please get some really good bear spray and practice using it. 🐻 Also, maybe you're doing this and not showing it, but a really good stretch before and after, and even during if you're stopped for a moment, can go a long ways towards keeping the soreness to a minimum, and creating longer muscles as you start to lose fat and build muscle, which you are definitely doing. None of us are ever going to have long, lean dancer muscles, 🤣 but it will prevent tight balled up muscles more prone to cramping. Maybe also consider a walking stick. They're not only way cool but are useful in maintaining balance over tricky terrain since you are obviously now becoming a magical mountain goat! 🐐Keep going!! 🗻
I was going to suggest the same. Some serious stretching to get the lactic acid moving. And I keep two collapsible walking sticks in the SUV at all times.

If you decide to get hiking sticks, be careful. Most people think it is a great idea to put your hands through those straps. I did until I heard someone mention breaking a wrist if you fall. 😊
Did you see Christine Falls on the drive up to paradise? It's just right off the road with a couple places you can pull over. So Beautiful!! So glad you got to see Ranier, Birdie!! She is magnificent!!
You did it girl! 😊 I don't know if I should tell you this but we have mountain lions too. They don't eat much. 😂. My favorite place to go camping is near Mt.Saint Helen's, don't worry she's sleeping. It's beautiful there and you get to see how the mountain is healing and recovering since the eruption in 1981 I think. It is on the other side of Mt. Rainier national park. I think it's cool?. ❤

So blessed to experience that, and thank you for taking us with you. I live in Scotland and will probably never be able to visit the States, so appreciate when others share its beauty. If you decide to get hiking sticks, be careful. Most people think it is a great idea to put your hands through those straps. I did until I heard someone mention breaking a wrist if you fall. 😊
Did you see Christine Falls on the drive up to paradise? It's just right off the road with a couple places you can pull over. So Beautiful!! So glad you got to see Ranier, Birdie!! She is magnificent!!

You did it girl! 😊 I don't know if I should tell you this but we have mountain lions too. They don't eat much. 😂. My favorite place to go camping is near Mt.Saint Helen's, don't worry she's sleeping. It's beautiful there and you get to see how the mountain is healing and recovering since the eruption in 1981 I think. It is on the other side of Mt. Rainier national park. I think it's cool?. ❤
