    That’s the best way of getting a window mat the right shape I’ve ever seen. Thank you!

      Welcome to Van Life! I love to camp in my minivan. I know several people who live full time in theirs and love it. Personally, I am good for about a month before I feel the need to be back in my sticks-n-bricks, but then it's not long and I feel the need to be in my tiny home on wheels and off for another adventure.

    Thanks for the simple idea for making a template for window covering. That’s a big $$ saver. Glad to find your channel❤️

    Thanks for the tips about using hair clips and old plastic cards for keeping the coverings in place. I hadn't seen this idea before and will definitely try them.

      Thank you for watching. Someone else also mentioned using and old window shade with the slats and cutting the slats to hold them in.

    Thank you! I'm in the very early dreaming, learning and planning stage. So, your video is extremely helpful.

    I watched this video a few weeks ago & felt inspired to finally start making my window covers. I completed them in time for my 5 day camp trip in the Utah Mountains & have you to thank for your inspiration! 😊❤ I used file folders & your method. The folders were more sturdy than the paper & easier to deal with than the paper I originally started with. TY for sharing your ideas!

      Thank you for the update and the input. File folders would certainly be a good option for the templates for their sturdiness, wish I had thought of that! I will next time, I am in the process of looking for a new bigger van and will keep that in mind. Happy Travels, hope to see you down the road.

      My thoughts exactly more stable for tracing. @@travelingwithminnievangogh

    I never thought of using the hair clips. Great idea! I didnt have a sewing machine when I made mine, so I used duct tape around the edge. Works great! I love the fabric on your back windows.

      Thanks MIchele, that fabric is from a cloth shower curtain from Walmart. I need to find another like it!

    I tried many times but it never worked for me so my sister paid big bucks to purchase them for me and they are junk. Have NEVER stayed up !

      I did the same thing with another product, paid big bucks for junk. Returned with no problem. Now I do what I can to make my own stuff.

    Have you thought of using gutter guards for your window, very good for air flow. Home depot has them, so you cut ends to size of window.👍

    • @travelingwithminnievangogh
      @travelingwithminnievangogh  4 місяці тому +2

      Yes, I do use them. I couldn't live without them. I need to make a new set as I had rainguards installed and for some reason the gutter guards do not fit as nicely, I think because my rainguards are the kind that slide up into the window slot. Thank you for watching and for your input.

    I have same overhead console like yours love the blue lights in it at night

      I tried unsuccessfully to add a string of lights, they wouldn't stay up, so I put up the glow in the dark stars and love that affect at night. Thank you for watching.

    If you use copy paper as I did , and failed because I thought like Marilyn I could get away with just strips of using tape but you cannot use just strips, If this is how you want to make your window coverings the tape has to be constant all around the paper and seams and edge. And then you can remove it and trace your reflectix. I am new to this also but your template has to be somewhat rigid to cut your reflectix from.

    • @travelingwithminnievangogh
      @travelingwithminnievangogh  4 місяці тому +4

      As long as the paper is secured and does not move around, it will work fine. Once I got my paper template inside, I did secure those loose spots. Having the lines drawn helped me make sure it was in place. Thank you for watching.

    The reflective on the windows will interfere with internet reception. I used black corrugated plastic instead.

    What adhesive did you use to adhere your fabric to the reflectix?

  • @terrydavis5223
    @terrydavis5223 16 днів тому

    Could you paint the reflectix?

    • @travelingwithminnievangogh
      @travelingwithminnievangogh  16 днів тому

      I have seen some videos where people have painted the reflectix. I don't know how well that would last. I chose to cover the reflectix with fabric since using the spray adhesive was so easy. Thank you for watching. I hope you found the video helpful.
