- From Seattle, we could either choose to head north to North Cascades or head South to Mount Rainier, and in hopes of hitting warmer weather, we chose Mount Rainier! Because the park receives so much snowfall throughout the winter, the snow is still slowly melting in mid-June, meaning that most of the roads and the trails are still closed. We still tried to see as much as we could with what the park had to offer in the early summer, and the mountain was nonetheless astounding. We recommend visiting Mount Rainier a month later in mid-July, when the snow is mostly melted and green meadows and blooming wildflowers are beautifully present.
