That was a great video! It should have been mentioned that Gus passed away at the young age of 48 due to brain cancer. Before his death the Bullets not only retired his number, but awarded him a ring to make him an honorary member of the 1978 Bullets championship team!!

Gus Johnson, and Nate Thurmond , both went and played at Akron- Central high school in Akron, Ohio. Lebron James game is like Gus game. We produce a lot of talent in Akron, and all over the state of Ohio. He passed away from a brain cancer in April,29 1987. He came back to Akron at our play ground, and watch us play ball at west Akron park area, Rip my big brother Gus.

Gus Johnson vs. Dave Debusscher? Can't remember Dave's spelling. JHC, those two guys....I wonder if the Earth trembled when those two went after rebounds.

NY Knick fan here: Mr. Johnson, playing for the Baltimore Bullets, ate my team up every time he played us! He was too quick for Dave Debusschere, and too strong for Bill Bradley-usually! What a player!
    Great video!
    Nicely Done.

The year was 1971, preseason game Baltimore Bullets vs. Philadelphia 76ers, Gus Johnson came down on a fast break went up on a dunk attempt over the 76ers' center, Gus Johnson banged his elbow on the back of the rim, the capacity crowd😮went silent for 60 seconds totally disbelieving what we just saw 👀.
