    Wow this video came up in my feed - what a throw back to when I first ever heard of Powerslide. The "Triskate" has come a long way since then!
    Hey - I have been trying to find a video that I am pretty sure was a PS video - it was a story about a beautiful older lady in (London, I think?) who took some classes with you guys and bought some Powerslide skates (4x80s) and skated all around the city. She talked about learning to stop, using the heel brake and even to powerslide, and how maybe when she got a bit better, she would like to try "tri-skates." ...I cannot find this video anywhere on UA-cam. She was such an inspiration, I must've watched it 10x. It had to be around the same time as this video, I think, and I'm almost positive she was something of a 'brand ambassador" for Powerslide at the time. Please link to it if you still have it!
    PS. My favorite skates my Grey & Lavender Next 3x100 - Cheers!

    • @PowerslideInlineskates

      Hi Grant, maybe because TRISKATES are a bit faster. The bigger wheels make the skate faster usually and so it fits more to intermediate and expert. Anyway, we think it's also easy to start on TRISKATE. It's comfortable and good against road vibration.

    Hey, great video. Great to find someone that teaches how to skate. And doing it in an educational way. I am interested in buying some triskates. I used to have a kickscooter but I am now interested in triskates. They look fast but also good for work out, exercises and flexibility. However I have never rollerskated before. Is it ok to start with 110 mm wheels? I am currently looking at the Powerslide Swell Trinity voltage blue. My shoes size is 43. Shall I go one size up or stay at 43? My regular shoes are vivobarefoot. They are the minimal barefoot shoes with a 3 mm sole. Very good shoes. The toe box is wide for my toes to splay and give movement. The toe box on the Swell look like a regular tight runner shoe. Is it really snug and tight? Or can I move my toes a bit? Thank you in beforehand. :)

    • @PowerslideInlineskates
      @PowerslideInlineskates  6 років тому

      Hello Robert,
      thanks for your request. Great decision to start skating, lots of fun plus all what you said below =)
      The 110mm Trinity version of the Swell skates should be perfect, as the ride height is lowered thanks to Trinity, the frame length equals pretty much your shoe size and so maneuverability /agility and power transfer are in a great balance.
      fitting is always a tough question as all feet shapes are unique. The Swell skates do come with a more direct fit, to not bounce around in your to loose skates. Skating with snug, but comfortable skates is key, that was our approach. The Swell Voltage Blue comes stock with a memory foam padding which adjusts to the shape of your foot, so that should help out, too. For sizing, if possible we would recommend trying on one size frist in your trusted skate shop, that is always the best solution. If there is no shop nearby, try it with your regular shoe size and try it on at home for a few hours and see how they fit.
      Enjoy your skates!

    hi Asha. Bought the Swell 125 Trinity mount skates . The last 3 years Ive been skating on the Powerslide R4 skates with 105mm wheels. I'm finding it unusual to skate on the 3 larger wheels, short frames and higher cuff.( I speed skate on ice with a very low cut boot.) Should I change the skates or try to break them and me with time?

    • @PowerslideInlineskates
      @PowerslideInlineskates  7 років тому +1

      hello dan,
      we won´t tell you what to do or not ;) yes, we believe it is a different skating feeling on 3 bigger wheels with a shorter frame, especially when you are coming from speed skating. the swell skates are highly functional fitness skates, made for a recreational/workout/fitness skating market. if you are a speed skater, your feet & muscles are trained and used to no cuff skating + a long frame. but if you plan to skate with these for a cruise around town with more turns and stops and so on, we believe the swells are a much better option, as the cuff provides more stability and control at any movement while the shorter frame is more agile and will make fast turns easier.

    Am wondering about whether I sould get the 110 or 125. Had K2 fitness skates before. Would like sth more fast fast still comfortable enough to do longer day-tours and maybe even long-distance travelling (up to 300km). Would you say it is the right skate for that? Or is it to uncomfortable for that (more like a speed skate?)

    • @PowerslideInlineskates
      @PowerslideInlineskates  6 років тому

      Thanks for your question. For long distance skating, big wheels are an essential benefit, sow we would recommend 125mm wheels all day. Once you roll, they will just keep you going for longer easier. Comfort wise, it is always a hard one to say, as every foot is different. Our skates come with high quality paddings, heat moldable materials and other fancy features to ensure perfect comfort, but the best way is to try out a few pairs at a skate shop in real life.

    Great to see you skating on 3 wheels! I am very interested in triskates but I haven't seen anyone skating on these skates in my city, so I am wondering if it is difficult for an intermediate skater to start skating on 3 bigger wheels. I've been skating on 4 x 80 mm fitness Roces skates for a couple of years and I'd like to try something new. Do you think it could be a good choice?
    Cheers from Poland,
    Teresa

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos 8 років тому +2

      +Te Za Hi Teresa, Yes I think Triskates are a good idea for almost all skaters. However there is some adjustment period involved because although the wheel base is a similar size 3x110 and 4x80, the wheels are taller so this changes the feeling and the responsiveness is slightly less than 80s, but still WAY more than traditional speed skates with big wheels. You will need to revise many basic skills and make sure your basics are solid and fluent (like centre edge balancing etc. This will help the transition. But mostly you need to perfect and improve your stopping methods as you WILL skate faster on the Triskates. If your stops don't 'keep up' with your new speeds, then you could be at a big disadvantage and taking necessary risks. But despite this being whats needed I think Triskates are the future of inline skating. I haven't touched my 80s since I moved over and thats 7 months ago.

    • @teza8849
      @teza8849 8 років тому

      +SkatefreshAsha Thanks for your response and helpful comments. I'm not afraid of speed but I'd better practise more stopping options on my current inline skates :) I definitely want to try Triskates, so sooner or later I'll do it. Megacruisers with their 125mm wheels are a bit to scary for me at the moment, but something around 100-110mm like in these Swells should be fine, I think.
      Looking forward to your next videos on Powerslide TV :)

    Asha, I like sliding most. so is it far more difficult to do paralell slide on these skates? And do You recommend 125mm wheels?

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos 8 років тому

      Slides are possible yes, but the taller wheel means that edging and angling the skates needs to be done very subtly which takes more focus. The parallel slide is the hardest slide in the book so it's better to start with all the other slides and work up to that one...

    • @SkatefreshVideos

    as much as i love my triskates, i would not recommend them to begin with! especially not for untrained adults with no prior expereince. being this high off the ground makes the skates feel a LOT more wobbly and unstable, and much harder to actually feel in control of. and that very straight stance, demostrated at 10:22 is terrible advice for beginners, because it increses the risk of falling backwards tenfold, where you have no protection, and it's much harder to safely catch the fall. note how much she's leaned fowards when ever she is actually skating. that is the proper porture!
    PS: perfect double-push at 0:50, though!

    Sometimes ideas that are not in fact correct are just regurgitated. One here is that the central wheel of tri-skates acts as a pivot point. This is not at all correct. The skates never actually pivot around this point. If they did, the other two wheels must be miraculously off of the ground. There is not pivot here. Tell me: where then is the, pivot point of figure ice skates? I'll tell you, its either at the front or at the rear depending one which move your are making. Likewise if you put ink on all of your wheels and perform at turn without lifting your wheels off of the ground you will find the pivot point either the front wheel or the back wheel but certainly never the middle wheel. The mark that will be left on the ground by the ink will be the shape of a bird flying in the distance. The reason you can pivot better on three wheels than on four is likely due to better weight transfer onto the pivoting (front or back) wheel due to the shorter base length.
    What is not mentioned in this video is that tri-skates come with larger diameter wheels which means normally you will get a smoother ride and perhaps more speed, but be careful because you must get the angle of the wheels compared to the lower leg pretty much accurate otherwise you will have a much larger force on your ankles or (if you have sufficient ankle supports) on your knees. Be very careful with this. Finally it should also be noted that the sprinters on the 200 m tracks always use 4 wheels. Why, because they cannot take the turns fast enough because of two reasons (a) there is not sufficient contact wheel against the ground and (b) their ankles are put under too much stress by the larger wheels - make a small mistake in the angle here and your will likely damage your ankle.
    I would suggest learning any kind of aggressive skating with smaller wheels first until you learn to place every foot in exactly the correct position.

    Looks fun and not gay like skateboarding.
    But a helmet without a chin strap that's just asking for a broken jaw

      My helmet is super snug on my head so the chin strap doesn't need to be too tight. If the hemet needs securing then yes the strap needs to be tighter.
