So true. Whiskey in the jar by Metallica, knocking on heavens doors by guns n roses, sabbra cadabra by metallica... I find these also better than their original
3:05 Tarja's voice is so dark and heavy during this era. She had a true gothic voice. I love her vocals in Century Child, her voice was so naturally dreary and grim compared to all the light sopranos during the rising popularity of symphonic metal at this time. She always stood out. Such an iconic song. So young but still delivered vocal performances like this most females in this industry can't even come close too.
My bf told me last night to listen to this and I'm so glad I did. This is amazing and it just blew me away. I saved it in my playlist to listen to anytime. Their voices are amazing!!!
These guys backed by 10,000 watts of driving audio power in concert is like nothing ever experienced. You half expect the heavens to open and an angelic herald to come down and wipe the evil from the earth.
I love the way he sings; ''And though you turn from me to glance behind The Phantom of the opera is there..'' At that moment you can really tell he is classically trained. Haven't heard him sing like that in other Nighwish songs, only in solo covers or collabs with other artists like Delain
Nightwish make awesome covers. Their version of ''Over the hills and Far away'' was so successful many didn't realize its a cover of a song by Gary Moore
Once it was part of an opera, now it's a separate masterpiece which deserves a Praemium Imperiale for all the performers (Tarja, Marko, Tuomas, Jukka and Emppu)!!!
diromiz Haha, I've been watching Naruto recently! Only on like Shippuden ep60, i'm glad you didn't spoil anything (like why the hell he's dressed like that xD)

I love the man's voice. It's just so.... idk. He reminds me of a warrior dressed in silent legion armor wielding taliths sorrow. Not necessarily evil but dark.
Carlys I repect your taste but It does not compare with the original version of Lloyd Webber is obviously that he wrote for an opera no for metal but Nightwish did a great job in they music style.
@Sentinel Scourge gotta love the hostility and elitism on an inherently subjective medium If hou were to listen to the earliest known recording of the song then that would be as close to an original as you xam get and if lloyd weber was rhe first to compose the piece then his version would be the original and frankly in most of the covers i hear that straddle genres i happen to enjoy rock or matal versions than original classical or pop offerings because i in my subjective opinion enjoy the emotional output of rock/metal The metal version of "take me to church" 100% more emotionally appropriate given the story portrayed in the music video And thats just how it is for many metal fans no need to bring your elitist hostility

+Not My Name In the book the Phantom is actually the best singer anyone had ever heard but was rejected due to his looks, causing him to seek revenge. In fact he taught the lead female how to sing. It could have been worse, you could have been forced to become a singer so good that everyone else sounds gravelly and aggressive in comparison to you.
One doesn't need aggressive vocals to sing the male part of this song. I'm going to sing the male part of this for a school talent show and I don't have aggressive vocals. But I think it's going to turn out well.
My friend and I were talking about what we are going to do for the talent show, so I showed her this song hoping she could do the male vocals but she didn't want to so now I have to learn the male part and I am only an alto girl
My band's covering this version(our soprano sings it in the style of Sarah Brightman, which is an octave lower), but we're nixing the vocal sliding, redoing the opening keyboard and adding the Webber lyrics "He's there/Beware the Phantom of the Opera).... This is making me want to watch my copy of the Lon Chaney silent film version ^_^
I think this is better than the song from the movie. Then again, it could just be my like of rock/opera and heavy metal. I mean no offense to whomever likes the movie version, I'm just saying that this is so much more epic.
I like this version, buttt I have to say that I like the original more just because of the lack of love in the voice of the Phantom in the Nightwish version .. His heart is filled with madness & everything, yes .. but he is also full of love .. & that's what I'm missing here. p.p
I liked betrayal for her since it fit her feelings pretty well. Mr Crowley was an excellent choice for her intro scene. That said, this would definitely be a proper replacement for her as well.
Anette may never get a voice like Tarja's, but she has her own beautiful voice. Why do people compare them, anyway? Their voices are both beautiful, so please stop with all of the "Tarja is better", and the "Anette is better". They are equals.
It’s rare when a cover song can sound more original than the original song.
This is why we should give the past steroids =)
So true. Whiskey in the jar by Metallica, knocking on heavens doors by guns n roses, sabbra cadabra by metallica... I find these also better than their original
@@CM-T Great tunes. I played Sabra Cadabra over and over again the day after I had lost my virginity lol.

That sounds legendary.
Indeed it does
What's 10.000 watts? That's nothing for a concert sound system
I envy you 😔
Back when Tarja was in Nightwish!
As much as I love Tarja, Marco is who really stands out in this cover IMO.
I love the way he sings; ''And though you turn from me to glance behind The Phantom of the opera is there..'' At that moment you can really tell he is classically trained. Haven't heard him sing like that in other Nighwish songs, only in solo covers or collabs with other artists like Delain

This song makes me imagine a badass Castlevania level. Another rebooted vampire killer!

Your comment makes me imagine how badly I cringe at your Lord of the rings-esque obsession with fictional mideval bullshit. Stfu.
@@bamagts wtf? Castlevania have nothing to do with lord of the rings...
Would be surprising if they did a tribute song to the Castlevania with mixing some of the music from the series.
Funnily enough the original musical concept was supposed to be more rock but got toned down for the theatre production ❤

Roy Khan would do such an awesome voice for the Phantom, and we have to admit, the voice for the woman too xD
