+DarknessWolf101 Tuomas stated in an interview (paraphrasing, not quoting) while creating Endless Forms Most Beautiful that it's how he approaches his music, like a soundtrack to a movie in his head. It makes perfect sense considering his affinity for the symphonic, soundtrack composers like Hans Zimmer, his creation of Imaginaerum (both movie and album), and some of his other rather epic pieces of work.

My dad and I bonded over this album and it lead into a shared fascination of music, making songs together, learning instruments, I have to thank this band for getting us on the right track together. Ironically this album about a destroyed relationship between father and son brought this kid and Their father closer together
I'm glad nightwish never gave up and kept marching forward. This is the best band to ever exist and my all time favorite!

Floor sounds so much better
The difference between Anette Olzon and Floor Jansen lies not in any doubt that either of them are world class vocalists, but in the fact that its harder to imagine Floor singing "I am the voice of never never land" and make it sound convincing. Anette's voice is the perfect blend of delicate, beautiful, mysterious, fairytale-like, and unselttling to make THIS album work as well as it does, and that's probably why she was hired by the band in the first place.
She gave a top performance, its a shame what happened between her and the band.

Absolutely fantastic comment. Nobody is doubting the immense vocal talents of either Tarja or Floor, but Anette had this almost whimsical quality to her voice that made her perfect for the mental images that this song conjures up.
Why do people have a need to compare Tarja, Anette and Floor? They all have diffrent ways to sing and that makes them unique in their own ways.

Dont even go there....There are TRUE fans that like Nightwish with all 3 different singers and than you have the "fans" who only naggin about who is a better singer.. They dont understand Nightwish.
Omg that last sentence is exactly the same that i post when i see comments about the vocalists :) Glad i am not one of few who sees it that way. They are all good in their own way and they all contributed a lot to Nightwish. Tuomas his songs are amazing in every way possible.

The origin of the Peter Pan story is actually pretty dark: Iirc, it first popped up some time during the Black Plague. In the context of the times, Peter Pan can be considered as an alternative name for the Grim Reaper, taking children to Neverland, aka heaven. The reason they never grow up, is because they're dead.
So the "voice of Never-Never-Land" is the voice of the grim reaper.
And the "Empty crib of peter pan" is the crib of a child that had died.
I'm not sure what a good interpretation of the line "The innocence, the dreams of every man" would be, but the other two lines really make you think.
That's one of the reasons I love Nightwish so much. There's lots of beautiful symbolism that makes you think...
Music has been a major inspiration to me when it comes to my writing. Back in high school, I was in the process of trying to write my first novel, unfortunately never finished. Nightwish was one of the bands I listened to extensively, setting the mood for the book of fantasy I was writing. It took me deep into my mind to find the words and the scenes to put onto paper. The year I went to college was the year I put my book on the backburner. The same year, they released this album and song. Listening to it and their other music now has reopened the doors to my mind and reinvigorated my passion to continue writing the story I never finished.

People hate on Annette so much and I dont get why. The albums she did were both incredible, and this one MIGHT be of the best they ever did. It's just incredible.

I'm new to Nightwish. Only discovered them a little over a week ago. I see people arguing over the three singers a lot. I think all three are amazing. They all brought something to Nightwish and Tuomas crafted albums to fit their singing talents. To me Floor is a combination of the first two singers into one. A lot bands go through tough challenges in their careers. Every fan should be thankful they are still here playing and writing music for themselves and us.
I dont understand why do people think Floor is a combination of the first two, when she's not a classical or lyrical singer. She's mimicking that singing style by belting, and obviously there are huge differences between a real classical singer and someone who just mimicks. For example, jansen can't go higher while mimicking classical, she needs to shout or yell, call it as you want, that's what belting does. That's one of the reasons why she skips part of the lyrics of dark chest of wonders
She is my favorite singer probably that this group has had, this slaps so hard how do you beat nightwish honestly

I never hated on Annette. In fact I honestly believed she suited her purpose in Nightwish for the time she was there. It goes to show that Tuomas clearly showed his genius by writing 2 great albums for her singing style.

As músicas dessa banda supera a arte, e quando você ver o clipe, os estilo de cada músico, parece um casamento perfeito é um menor maestria. Falta adjetivo para suprir a necessidade do que esse clipe causa aos ouvidos.

My favorite Nightwish song. Love Anettes voice. I think this and "Meadows of Heaven" show off her talent best. All their singers gave (give) their own voice (literally) to Nightwish and I love them all.
Floor does a great job with this song, and I think she's the best of Nightwish's ladies overall. That said, Anette did Nightwish fans a solid with this album. Truly fantastic, through and through.

Mari Prindesci Yeah, DPP was kinda bland. I think the Tarja drama took it's toll on Holo's inspiration and composition.
Wulfshade It might have also been that he was still learning Anette's style. Tuomas writes every song with the singer in mind, which is part of why the style changed a bit after Tarja.
***** Actually, a part, or maybe the entire DPP, was written before they hired Anette, so Tuomas had no idea who will sing it - and didn't have anyone's voice in mind in particular. Anette was chosen, because they found her fitting for what was already created. :) So it's understandable why Imaginaerum suits her voice better.
