- The constitution of the seventh administration has encountered delays as the signatories of the Statement of Intent struggle to find each other.
These consultations are guided by the State of Intent (SOI), which IS BINDING the 10 political parties who signed it.
Since his inauguration, all the Executive power has rested with President Cyril Ramaphosa. ANC NEC Member Ronald Lamola says the recent demands cabinet positions by the DA are outrageous
And MK party is now officially in parliament under the leadership of Dr John Hlophe. MK Party MP Andile Mngxitama says they will never work with the ANC of Ramaphosa.

If I rigged the elections and ensured you remained in power I'd also have "outrageous demands" We're not being told the full story here. This was pre-planned before the elections, perhaps Ramaphosa never revealed the full story to his ANC. I'm shocked how people are failing at reading why the DA is steadfast on getting key positions.

Lamola doesnt understand that this arrangement is subject to both the Constitution and Statement of Intent of the GNU, which requires compromises from the President. The dynamics of this GNU mean parties can make policy and representative demands which must be managed by accomodating them approriateltly. Its just a mess

It can’t be business as usual but at the same time, it will be silly to expect a party with 21.8% to get a 50/50 split… they are not equal. In any event the tally of all the votes the left leaning votes carried the day meaning ANC has more wiggle room than DA.
It means ANC is not entitle all the cabinet positions with that 40%...if ANC get 16 position, then DA is entitled 8 position mathematically.. SINCE ANC took presidency, other party with the next highest contributions must be given Vice Presidency .

The ANC is not obligated to the DA because of any agreement. The President is obligated to the people. The DA should get over their sense of entitlement.
In addition, I hope that this whole situation isn’t a form of postering, pretension or staging. I hope that the ANC isn’t in cahoots with the DA. This is an opportunity for the President and ANC to satisfy the needs of the people. The majority of the people, not the few.

It seems unreasonable to believe an agenda for the next five years can be decided among so many within 6 weeks.
Different times or not, the cabinet is under the leadership of the President. A coalition doesn’t mean that one party gets whatever they wish. It’s a give and take and ultimately the President is the executive.
I actually want The DA to be in cabinet for the sake of Checks and Balances on ANC... they've been running the Country like their Spaza Shops. We need order, we need laws implemented and upheld, we want change, we want improvements in our economy
