negotiations are being handled shows immaturity and lack of
experience. This is as leaked letters from the DA and ANC have
detailed the tensions between the two parties.

What the ANC must appreciate is that a big ministry like finance or defense or foreign affairs is worth like four mickey mouse ministries like sport or tourism.
The DA makes up 30% of the GNU. Give them 30% of the cabinet with ministries which deal with issues/policies where both the ANC and DA are aligned.
The electorate gave this government a clear mandate. Representation in cabinet should be proportional to the number of NA seats in the GNU. Power must be shared equitably. Anything else would be undermining the people's will. The ANC must stop negotiating in bad faith and relinquish the power it lost.

How do you expect to be in a coalition whilst you differ in policy? I don't even believe the DA got the percentage that is being shown.

My suggestion would be to say to cyril you have 40 DA have 20. that means 2 to 1. let sit around a table then you ( ANC) start you take 2 then I take 1 and so on. after all. the ANC and DA can then compromise for the the other small parties. So simple 2 to 1.

I believe they should meet in person, and not leave the room until they have concluded a deal.
The ANC invited more smaller parties to join the GNU to strengthen their position. Now they think they can take the DA's seats to weaken the DA.
No matter how much people like DA, this time they doing something not expected from them. They were actually supposed to apply discretion and given less than 6 seats so that the other small parties can get a piece as well.
30% should be distributed amongst the other small parties...

They can be consulted but the decision should be with a few. That is why many community projects fail, too many chiefs eventually the project fail and everyone abandon it.

GNU eliminates the political concept of OPPOSITION..No opposing as the Parliament work together to debate laws and pass instruments to be executed by the Executive..
In a perfect and fully practiced GNU , ALL elected Political Parties enter into a Power -sharing-- arrangements of the Executive proportionate to their elected vote percentage...and this must include all ,not a coalition of few parties.

The best medicine to eliminate the hunger for Political Parties power struggle of Cabinet positions is to allow for All Executive positions to be applied for and Vetted by Parliament...No MP 's appointment to Executive possitions...All other inportant positions like of intelligence..police. defence...judiciary..let them be decided for by Parliament...not President..his duty just be to execute what the parliament pass as wholly debated laws and policies that are monitored by parliamet..

Transparency is really important though, we want to know what exactly is being discussed and the stances being taken in the negotiations. Now south africans are aware of DA's arrogance and how their apparant founder 'Helen Ziller' lied to south africans by claiming the DA is not after positions but change. This has revealed that the DA is infact after positions.
The DA must not compromise. They must get their fair share of cabinet posts. The ANC is negotiating in bad faith. They are not disturbing power equitably in cabinet.
It's not arrogant to stick to a letter of intent and demand your fair share of cabinet. The ANC lost its majority.
