I remember this car. For some reason I thought it was the Hoonicorn this whole time, but seeing it again after all this time and realizing it was Vaughn’s too really changes everything I thought I knew.
I graduated high school in 2004 and for a gift was allowed to watch Mr Gittin in action in the iconic 05 Falken Mustang. He was just having fun competing, but he's made a lasting memory in my life that I'll never forget. Thanks for the memories 👍🏾
Cool to see more of Vaughn and this old build, I've seen his newer stuff but haven't seen this before. It's crazy how far drifting has come along even since 2011, still had an old school laydown handbrake setup
Nice build. The fact it's 100% metal is smart, because cars back then to the '80s were made of sheet metal, anyway, so that made this Mustang even tougher than ever in case of a crash!
Pawel Puzia oh yeah true. I didn’t see the “in the scene” part. My bad Keanu is just a cool guy. Vaughn is definitely the nicest guy in the drifting scene.
This car is awesome! I have seen a lot of Nice and impressive cars (on this channel) but this one really stands out for me and makes a lasting impression. So impressive! And I am not even a huge Mustang fan.
Don’t even understand how much I love this car. Growing up a Chevrolet kid, this car made me want a 69 mustang gt when it got revealed at Sema. My favorite year of mustang and definitely my favorite mustang build of all time.
Vaughn listening to your story and watching you drive is therapeutic. I deal with a lot of anxiety at times and anytime im struggling I come watch your videos to reignite my spark to accomplish my dreams. thank you for being you. god bless
When I think of drifting this is the guy who I think of... Chelsea joining the team was probably the best thing that could have happened in drifting IMO... both have a style unlike any other and both definitely Drive harder than any other drivers. With covid going on things have been a little messed up but I'm really hoping to get to see these guys drive some more in the near future. 🤙🇺🇲
Oh, I've definitely heard of this build. I remember when I first drove it in NFS Shift 2. This car is what really solidified my love for Mustangs, especially this model year. I still want to own a '69 Fastback one day, but for now I own a 2019 Mustang GT and want to make it a naturally aspirated beast.
NFS: Shift 2 is the way i started following VGJ and the RTR-X is one of my all time favs because of that game. One reason I got into drifting as well. Love itm
I think it was 2012 at Fd Atlanta I seen this car in person. Walking down the long endless hill into pits this was the first thing I seen on display. Sick build!
The 69 stang and camaro are 2 of the older generations of muscle cars that can hold their own with their appearance. Compared to the modern versions of each. I own a 69 mach 1 428scj drag pak. Ofcourse considering its value, id never chop it up to modify the panels and such. But Vaughn shows the simple subtle changes here and there help its bodylines to remain above all else through its years. I Love, Love, Love this RTRX. Thanks for sharing Larry
It’s funny I had this car as my background on my old school laptop and I didn’t even realize it was a Larry Chen photo or that it was Vaughn’s. That was back when I thought Ken’s name was “Jim kana” lol. Glad I’ve been able to learn so much through all of the hoonigan content!
I was always a big NFS fan throughout schooltime. This car is so epic and is the reason I made a RDE2ROK plate in 2016 that was registered to 2 cars, and I still have it. Just on the front of my Tacoma
I've been waiting to see the RTR-X again for EVER!!!! VGJ- "You have to have fun driving my cars or your never driving again!" Don't threaten me with a good time!
I went to this place for a rally-x and had no idea they had a track! They need to open this place up for general hooning! I'd LOOOOOOVE to just tool around in the woods with my truck there. Looks like they have some decently fun trails.

I got this car as a Hot Wheels for my kids before knowing about the car. After realizing how rare it was and that I could not find another in my local stores, I took my kid's one for my collection. ;)
When this popped up on my feed I thought I was getting recommended a 10-year-old video and then was pleasantly surprised to find out that it’s new content on this car

What’s so great about Vaughn is he’s not just a great drifter but you can tell he’s genuinely a great guy and humble.
I like that it’s the hoonicorns big brother
RTRX: big bro, na, rwd, clean, simple, stylish
hoonicorn: LITTLE BRO, TT, AWD, RAGE, DESTRUCTION
Summed it up perfectly
Hoonicorn v1- NA ITB awd and all mentioned above sum it up too.
the hoonicorn is the dork version of this, along with most of ken block's stuff. Ahem V6 truck, now electric. Sponsored garbage is still garbage

I gotta agree with him, hoonicorn is a lil dorky... really want to see the hoonicorn fox tho.
Who remembers driving this beast on NFS World back in the old days.
Good old times!
Im driving in in NFS Shift 2 DLC

I still play NFS World lul
NFS World damn

I love his ramble about just loving CARS. No matter brand, country of origin, era. This is something I fully endorse.

Vaughn’s rule rocks. “ If u don’t have fun, you’ll never drive again “
Watched this car being built and still hands down the sickest mustang rolling.........
Larry: "This is, like, so sacralige. Japanese wheels on an American car."
Dude, the factiry wheels on my Trans Am are Japanese.

What's the difference between 100% metal and sheet metal?

11:50 and 12:35 is really hilarious because Vaughn just continued talking while Chelsea is just ripping in the background 😂😂😂
Gorgeous car, as usual on Hoonigan AutoFocus, thanks :)
Someone please give Vaughn a Aussie Barra to play with, then just stand back and enjoy the show.
Vaughn with a Barra would destroy youtube. Aussie RTR? Acca Dacca edition?
Why are we not funding this?
some young guy lz needs to let vaughn get a little seat time
Adam LZ barra mustang!!!
This car is an absolute inspiration (personal dream car) and just an awesome epic creation. Loved this car since the first time i saw it!
Can Hoonigan sell hoonigan styled Larry Chen bucket hats. I would definitely buy one
Those were cool in 2004, probably had it since then. Lol
Find one and bring em back
Still my favorite RTR vehicle!
That car sounds absolutely unbelievable. My god. Ur my hero Vaughn. Respect brother.

The 1969 Mustang Boss 302 is my favorite/dream car so I'm soooo in love with this thing. The metal work is absolutely gorgeous.
The RTR-X is awesome, beautiful & raucous!
Was my screensaver on my old laptop for an age.
That thing is soooooo sick. Glad to see it handle so well without the front tires all cambered out.

Thats a sick '69 , I have been in a few old mustangs and that sound brings back that raw feeling you get driving in one!
I remember seeing this car on speedhunters back in my sophomore year of high school and I’m so happy that it’s still around!!!!!!
Vaughn the type of guy to reverse entry an Econoline at 75mph and be like "chassis feels great, perfect handling"
That RTR Mustang is most likely the reason what makes old mustangs so rad.
Who knows this car in NFS: The Run? :D
Hell to the yeah, it wasn't the fastest but it was fun to drive
Yeah but Shift Unleashed 2 was the first one i played this car.
