From a $4000, Gutted, and RB Powered 280z, to “Forever Car”: Chris Forsberg’s Gold Leader Z
Вставка

- A lot of you know @chrisforsbergracing for his annoyingly-good skills behind the wheel of various drift cars over the last… many, many years. But beyond showing other people up on the regular in Formula Drift, Chris stays busy with street car builds too. And one of our personal favorites is his gold-laden, widebody, RB powered 280z. From humble beginnings as a stripped-out $4000 shell, to the Chris built his “forever car” out of this thing. And Larry has been there since the early days of the meticulous build.

He looked KINDA interested with selling (briefly).🤔
Would he SERIOUSLY consider an offer?🤔
I think autofocus is easily the best content Hoonigan puts out.
I agree. Even if I'm not into the vehicle he's speaking about his positive tone and enthusiasm force me to watch the whole video 😂
Have to agree, it's like a video version of a tuner magazine and larry's charisma it 2nd to none.
I totally agree!
It's nice to see someone who really knows his build anything asked he could explain... you get the feeling he was very involved
Not arrogant just knowledgeable cool guy
john moser you can actually watch the car transformation on car donut
I am so happy to see this as an autofocus. Chris' z is my favorite z HANDS DOWN.
So Larry, does your back hurt from carrying the ENTIRE Hoonigan channel during this unprecedented time?
We definitely appreciate the support!
What about Dan and the Diesel Camaro or the new build biology on the pro mod NSX
@@isaacshively6705 knuckle busters is a temporary show, build bio episodes are far and in-between. No one does consistency like Larry.
I have yet to see any other hoonigan video aside from Larry's, since quarantine...they just don't grab my attention
Every time Larry drops a vid...I'm watching.
I adjusted Larry's seatbelt 20 times in my head.
If I could like a comment more than once this would be it
Me tooo...!! 😆
@@tyryman9053 you can comment more than once!
My OCD was killing me!

I had a 1972 Datsun 240Z in the late 80’s and sold it before I went back to Germany in the Army. I owned BMW and, at one point a 1972 Porsche 911 Targa. They were fun to drive, but I have missed my Z ever since I sold it. I am looking to buy another one now as a project car. That is how I found this video. Incredible care. Stunning.
This has to be my personal favorite UA-cam video EVER. Not because it has one of my favorite pro drifters, the car I saw at times getting built at Rad Industries, or my favorite photographer. But for the part when Larry and Chris were chitchatting on the roads, passing the streets I grew up in, and even the area where I was born. I moved to Texas a year ago and miss home CM/NB Cali❤❤❤
What’s crazy is everyone you are able to work with is so humble and it’s absolute gold .
Not many 30 min videos on UA-cam I watch start to finish consistently. Hoonigan autofocus is definitely the only one. Cheers !
I’m watching this with a goofy smile on my face. I had a 78’ 280 that I drove for 10 years. The thing that I never heard you say is how much fun it is to drive. It didn’t matter how fast or slow I was going, it was just pure pleasure to drive.
One of the GOAT Z’s out there also my fav part is the G Nose front end.
I think Larry Chen likes old-school z's ... Maybe 🤔
just a little
I dunno.. it's on the internet so I dunno how accurate it is
Slightly biased lol
Nah, he seems like an LS guy
@@LarryChenPhoto 😂😂
I for one am totally ok with all the Larry content lately. His excitement about cars and associated topics is really refreshing right now.
This was awesome. Currently in the middle of building my own 280 and this just made me so damn stoked for it. Thanks guys ✌🏻
This video just keeps on giving.. 28min 52 second car tour and a long drive at the end. Beautiful Larry !!
This is actually one of my favourite S30 builds. Just *so* clean
280z are just one of the coolest looking cars ever made
Live Free Moto 240z
Rb s30 chassis is the dream. Beautiful car and fantastic build.
Thnx for introducing me to this fantastic car culture Larry. Good people, having fun with beautiful cars. I just saw the video of the delivery of your 280z and I get the appeal. What a beautiful car!
I dont get tired of this kind of content. Wow this car is freaking awesome... thank you for sharing and the owner to make run like this...
Jesus that car sings. At 50 yrs old, I bought an '13 FR-S six speed because I couldn't see restoring an old Zee and have it as street-able as this generation's Japanese classic sports car. My heart wants the Zee but my head loves the FR-S.
Love this car, love the engine setup and the sound is spot on. Also Chris seems like a really cool guy to hand around with and nice to see someone who loves RB'd Zeds as much as myself.
Thanks for the video.
I have a hunch why such beautifully and tastefully modded cars create a more intense emotional reaction with spectators and fans of cars. Anyone who can make a big amount of money can just buy a sports/super/hypercar and there you go. But such a beauty as this Nissan always takes dedication, knowledge and patience to build yourself, and on level that becomes tangible. What a ride!
That lady is cool af.
Edit: And that words about not focusing on numbers, instead just enjoying the car for what it is from Chris, is actually very true and most of us overlooked and get caught up with high numbers when it's much more enjoyable and reliable with less power.
"sick car dude" cracks me up lmao!
also, loving the new outro compilation, Larry!
oh my, that shot at 3:25 is fire. this ride is so sweet.
Thanks Larry for all the Z content lately..makin me really regret selling mine a few years ago...thanks alot
I can definitely appreciate this kind of build, especially under the hood where nothing is hidden beneath beauty panels. Functional, clean, and best of all, it hasn't been bastardized.
Larry I am such a Z guy too, I totally get all of your enthusiasm in this vid!
This car is amazing. Could park next to any car in the world, and I'm sure it would garner more attention. Gorgeous, sick name, even has it's own personality! Love it. Mr. Forsberg, I tip my hat. Thank you.
Thank you, Larry for this! I love the polished Valve cover like the old L series engines. I saw Chris get a perfect 10 at Sonoma back when Formula Drift stopped by there.
This thing makes my mood to be good for starting the day, thanks Larry.
12:30 larry gets possessed by a demon? what just happened to his voice?
Larry's seatbelt is killing mi,the little clips in between are hilarious, beautiful car with amazing sound, this guy knows his stuff
Autofocus = my fav hoonigan special. Reminds me of the good ol daily transmission days. Jus without the scumbaggin in the donut garage parkinglot
Dam that thing sounds new the motor that is such a nice car nice to see another 280/240 looked after so well and again Larry you rock on showing cars like this love it my friend
Nice!!!!! The Sound is fantastic!
My first car was a 260z almost 40 years ago. I had the good fortune of recently obtaining a 280z. I will be keeping this one.
This is one of the best sounding RBs I've heard. Amazing setup.
Chris that z is awesome. Fresh and so clean clean
I'm a Toyota 2JZ Guy but this RB sounds crazy good and the BLOW OFF VALUE dump is F ing sick!!!!!!!!!
My first burnout, in a buddies 280zx. First car I ever was in that jumped, 200sx. Both were fun cars!
Only just discovered Larry.. really like watching and listening to him.
Ah the 280 z my buddy had one loved going for rips in it .but this one is really nice man what a whip did a great job building it for sure .
Once someone makes it on this channel, you know you’ve made something badass to get Larry’s attention
Yeap as a fellow z (75 280z) owner like you guys were saying it brings out memories in people , the high 5s , thumbs up, and all the other stuffs gets old but when older people give you a short story of their interaction with a Z in the past is priceless, i drive mine everday did a sr20det swap also makes a great daily driver, , roadtrip car Fresno ca to LA beaches under 30$ in gas LoL
such a cool video. getting uplifting comments about your car makes me so happy. I'm not a honda guy but damn to the people that bought a brand new type r integra before it was cool tho!
I bought my 280 13yrs ago for $1300 fixed it up myself kept it stock, it was my daily driver for 6yrs , still have it ,garage kept. Never gonna sell it.
Love the car, have no idea about what you are saying, so many numbers and info. Awesome car.
Thanks for taking ‘’us’’ the internet for a ride in one of the dopest Z’s #legends
That new garage is a straight dream setup 💪💪💪
Best music of any UA-cam show that I watch.
Gotta say Larry - You put together a great video. Love the content, great job hosting and also good job with the rest of the production work.
i remember the first time I sat in a brand new 240Z at a local Datsun dealer in Kailua, Hawai'i in 1969. I was 9, and it was love at first sight. Love Zs with RB engines. Say no to LS Zs.
God I want one so bad. There's a guy about 5 houses down the road from me with one of the latest model 280Zs, bit chunkier than the early cars but it makes up for it by looking crazy mean.
I do know a guy with a 260Z he dropped an RB25DET into, with NEO heads (luckily RBs and other JDM goodness are pretty common and still vaguely affordable in New Zealand!) Which is awesome. Looks stock but it screams like crazy
I don’t know much about cars. Why is an LS bad to put in a Z?
Old school Z's are my favorite! Second RX7's. Just beautiful cars forever!
i realy like this chanel, im not sure how many people will belive you that all the video’s that came out since the quarantine were filmed before the quarantine 😁 lol
There’s a purple one riding around Honolulu lately super clean wide body love the chassis of these nisssans
The fact that the body kit works with the long nose makes me like it that much more!
Awesome ride...i used own a 1977 280Z I bought it in 1979 when i was 20 years old paid $6000 Canadian at the time. I put triple Webber's on it as they sounded much better than the fuel injection...one of my favorite cars iv'e owner regardless of price. Truly such an iconic vehicle!
AWESOME CAR! Love all the work done in all areas. Makes me miss the 1070 240z I had. I had installed a Nissan 5 spd, had Koni's. front self made spoiler, rear spoiler, wider a larger wheels and tires, etc. If I had that today it would be so much more upgraded, because in those days the technology just wasn't the same. I totally appreciated all the newer tech on newer motors that increase horsepower beyond anything we could have imagined in the early 1080's. The suspension upgrades almost interest me the most. Thank for sharing such a great example while retaining the classic car look.
So sweet. Being a Z man and loving RB’s, she’s a great car. Need one or maybe just a ride. I’ll do it in my Z32
Nice video. Takes me way back. My best friend back in the day had a 240-Z and I had an 83’ RX-7. We raced constantly. I’d lose every time the heat soak set in.
Thank you Larry.
OMG it's one of best zs I have ever seen!! this guy is so intelligent. The engin the color the rings all perfect.. Well done bro. Great Job thanks for the video dude. 🙏 God Bless peace ✌️
23:45, sees the white Silverado trying to keep up and gives it a little more. Racer life.
I could listen to this car all day.
Chris is a COOL Master Drifter!! Love your Z Widebody!!..would Love them Wheel Flares on my '99 Civic hatchback!! cheers Great Vid Larry!!
I have always liked this car.. Thank you for making this video, Larry.👍
The excitement during the drive is contagious. Great vid
Omg! Amazing build! Piece of art!
Cielos, sentí la adrenalina, suena espectacular, lo quiero!🏁🏎
That front end is sick it really makes it pop a whole lot more
Owned a 280z for around a year... Best year I've ever spent of my life.
I love the G-sloping front end, easily the best looking front of any of the Z cars!
I’m digging the red Honda Spree in the back 9:50
I have a 05 Z33 and after these years ive kept up with it and modified it how i have been able to afford it. She needs a paintjob badly ( thanks Nissan) but even the other day with as rough as she looks on the outside I had people tell me they loved my car. Its a great moral booster when someone says something like that and I cant afford to throw down thousands to keep her looking like brand new because I spend all my money on go fast-er parts.
I love this damn 280.
i love cars so much. and my fav part of them all is the sound. now thats gonna be taken away and im afraid my love for cars too :(
The Gold Leader Z is an outstanding car.
What a beautiful car, wow
The 90's jdm cars sound amazing. Rb, 2jz, 1jz, 13b!!!!!
Love your car and what you did to it!
My brother had 265s on the rear of his Monaro.... but I had 345s on my Honda S600.
I’m still looking for that car.... (the s600,)
Very nicely done.. If you guys ever come to Okinawa let me know.. I'll tour the car scene here 👍🏾
This Z sounds so beautiful ❤️
Chris seems like a really cool guy to hang out with ^^ very nice video 👌
When I'm a millionare, a 280z will be one of many cars I'll have in my garage.
Hell yeah, that shoutout to Skillard on the rear diffuser!
That Z is still my favorite Z ever built, it's just pure perfection! I still hope to see it at the BurnYard some day!
Sounds F...king amazing!!!
Awesome Car really great job in and out.
This should be turned in a hotwheels car. One of my favourite builds this and Daniel Wu Honda S600 and Sung Kangs 240z should do a photo shoot together. Make it happen Larry!
Look at that jewel at 27:18 , also! I love cars!!!!
Such a beautiful build!!!!
cool Larry!! looks good Chris!!
That front end is beautiful, g nose was definitely the best pick
Chris is the coolest dude ever.
Beautiful build...
A 280z is one of my bucket list cars. along side a lotus, a evo 5 and a cappuccino.
Zee Forever! My 1st 2 cars were a 260Z and a 280ZX.
I meet Chris Forsberg at Zdayz with that car back in 2015-16 or so. I also have a 1975 280zt and a 2013 Nismo 370ztt.
This is truly a new take on the Devils Z
