I got the recommended, not gonna lie before clicking I thought it was someone blatantly ripping on shesez and getting the algorithm in his place. I'm full glad to see that it's shesez getting some algo attention instead! Great video too, I hope to see more in my recommends.
That's rich considering that boundary break ripped off slippy slides. Both are great content, but let's not pretend that boundary break was original. Fortunately, this also appeared in my algorithm.
My guess for why that sprite flashes at 1:42 is because the NES was only able to use so many colors at a time, so it switches to the duck color palette.
I once in my life jumped over the flag in a Super Mario level on NES and I got the endless castle wall until my time ran out. No one ever believed me and I started to think I imagined or dreamt it. Now I know I was right. Thank you!! My 7 year old self can rest easy now.
I'm certain that if you were to run for long enough in SMB 1 the position variables would eventually overflow and the level would loop back to the start.
That reminds me of simple planes vr because I was looking for new islands and once I saw an exact duplicate of the home island and it gave me the creeps
Awesome. I always love longer format vids to be able to just run on the side and listen to while working and gaming. I think this channel is a great idea.
It’s so interesting to me that the overworlds and bonus rooms in this SMB1 just keep going with a straight path and automatically have the right background details (before the game glitches out). I wonder how this game was made that it „knows“ what a standard landscape should look like in each theme and why it even generates more of what you should see.
Fun fact about the masking texture, you can see it through normal gameplay. Those who know this game's speed running already know this, but when performing the wrong warp, at the very end you'll enter the pipe from the outside, thus seeing the masking texture
16:51 Reason for this is simple. The NES can't render enough sprites to cover the whole screen. However background tiles can be redrawn once per frame.
This channel had me confused for a second. I honestly thought someone was blatantly stealing your videos and making compilations. It turns out you are just trying to take advantage of the algo. Good for you, and I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate these longer form videos, they are great to fall asleep to or have playing when I'm busy doing something!
@@TheEngineerThatsEngiHere The limitations are still there, just lessened, they just needed more gradient stages in between the low and high quality model.
Hey Shesez. I hope things are looking up for you. This channel is a great idea! Though just some feedback, you may get more reach if you improve your thumbnails on this channel. Personally, looking at how it is currently, I don't think I'd care to watch the video if I had just saw it while scrolling, especially if I didn't recognize the channel name. It's not bad perse, but it's a bit...inexperienced looking for lack of a better term, and with the low amount of views to start with it may be glossed over by newcomers. Perhaps a logo for the channel or Boundary Break would help, something a bit more inviting/exciting. I'm no expert, just my first impression personally. Good luck to you in these hard times...
Me watching the shortened compilations on your main channel: waow me watching the complete compilations here like they're not stuff I've BASICALLY already watched: waow
the reason why the edges of the screen kills mario is bc in the airship/ the tank levels if you touch the edges you die but they left it active sometimes because you can't get offscreen most of the time
3:00 in Super Mario Bros. 2 you can actually get over the flag pole without any cheats. All you have to do is go to 3-1 and find the spring, and jump on it but make sure to Hold A to get a bigger jump and hold right, you should be able to jump over the flagpole. I tried multiple times and it work every time.
you can get past the flagpole in multiple ways in both SMB1 and SMB2J in SMB1 you can use the weighted platforms in the levels with them next to the flagpole, and you can use a koopa stuck on the bottom of the screen to give yourself a vertical boost in some levels (most notably 1-1) you can just jump over the flagpole with Luigi in basically every level in SMB2J, and it's possible to clip into the floor before the flagpole in certain levels and get past it by going under it's pretty cool
Fun facts right here video 15:49 has a very quiet “son of a glitch!” Which to be honest is just a reminder of my favorite channel when I was around seven and hearing the sound just makes me feel nostalgic
I love how you appreciate the optimizations Nintendo did. A lot of people don't understand that it's not laziness, but it's conservation of resources. A lot of times, I imagine they construct the entire model and then cull out what they don't need.
18:22 I was kind of hoping you were going to show what it looks like when Bowser falls down there. I was curious if he actually hits a ground when you get the thud

YES! I mentioned on your vid on the main channel having something more direct in your channel name may help the issues you were having and now that plus the length pushed the algo to help out haha. Thats awesome man, glad to see it with all the work you do!
"The Duck Hunt Dog briefly flashes white on the last frame before disappearing" Me, well aware of how the Zapper works: "So you're telling me there's a chance?"
Back in the '80s when we jumped over the flag pole in the first Super Mario on NES, there was another set of stairs and flag pole past the castle. We used to keep jumping over the flagpoles over and over to drive each other crazy by using up all of our time on endless flag poles before touching the last flag pole at the last second of our time instead of letting the other person go ahead and have their turn!
6:25 Interestingly the All-Stars version of the game is essentially a port of the original game's code to the SNES, with the graphics replaced and a new sound engine. The CPU is similar enough to the NES's CPU that it's possible to run the original code with minimal changes, and that's what they did. That's why many of the quirks of the NES game are still there in the SNES version!
Mario bros and duck hunt cartridge is one game so he didn’t lie and he didn’t say he was not gonna play it so just because it wasn’t in the title means he didn’t lie to lie means you said something that was not true and he never said something that was not true he didn’t lie
So much effort went into a reptile's behind that is never seen in any of the games I get that it gives better detail on movement but seriously they really weren't messing around at Nintendo
The Bowser you see past the end of the level may not be the exact same Bowser. It might be a second Bowser that shoots the fire during the section of the level before the boss fight. Have you tried killing the bowser past the end and checking if the first Bowser is still alive?
Games need an asset room and a quick masking layer so they don't have to go through extra work of making an animation for every pipe. Which would increase the game's file size. Plus, nobody can clip past the room bounds through most normal means.
Nice content you have on the channel. On this particular video, I am surprised you didn't explore the hidden developer area that is on the island just above the ghost house on the main world map where you show us the map at 20:47. We could have solved of "L is real" also in mario 64. 🤔
