Looks like there were more players than fans there.
It's Atlanta
ChrisDutch I noticed that, i watch a st louis game on a wednesday game on they still had 43,000 fans there
IKR.
What a fucking douche bag, Carlos Gomez.
This is an example of why he's a douche bag.
Brian McCann has a reputation too.
He's on the Yankees so fuck him even more
Sandro Bruni shut the fuck up idiot the pitcher and him have bad blood for a long time and the 2 brawls are because the pitcher started
Sandro Bruni #LetsGOYANKEES
Rumor has it to this day he still hasn't stepped on home plate
Haha nice
nope
Rumor has it to this day that Braves fans are still salty about that Homer.

Gomez was probably just counting the people in the stands.
jtp1389 Think he took a bit long for that.

+jtp1389 Here's a racist joke..... A white guy runs into the police station and yells to the police...."SOMEONE STOLE MY CAR!!!! SOMEONE STOLE MY CAR!!!!!" The police then tell him, "Calm down sir....did you see who did it?" Then the white guy says, "No. But, I got the license plate."
I got a million of 'em.
+Jordan Montgomery no he was counting the empty seats lol
I remember this game. It was cold and rainy and on like a wednesday night
Lost in all of this is the fact that there's literally no one at that game lol.
Well, it was the top of the 1st, and I went to a Blue Jays game and didn't get there till the bottom of the 1st. Also, it's the Brewers (loljk).
You have to remember that this game was on a Wednesday. People usually have work/school the next morning, that's why weekend games are packed
There was a rain delay that lasted a few hours
***** Even the game in Baltimore today had more people.
BitFlip32 easy now

On tonight's episode of "Benches Clear After Carlos Gomez...", benches clear after Carlos Gomez's homer.
😂
Im weak you should make a segment on that
+Czar so true
I'm watching the spin-off: "Benches Clear After Yordano Ventura..."
thats not a catcher getting butthurt if you think that you dont know baseball or understand it at all. This is having your pitchers back. He gets respect from his teammates for this.
Rule 7.06b (note): The catcher, without the ball in his possession, has no right to block the pathway of the runner attempting to score. The base line belongs to the runner and the catcher should be there only when he is fielding a ball or when he already has the ball in his hand.
So, why wasn't McCann tossed too? He clearly violated 7.06b.
Gomez was awarded home. That's what happens when that rule is violated. Have you seem any catchers ejected this year for that rule?
RobtheTerrible No, but that's because 99.9% of catchers are douchy enough to do what McCann seems to do on a regular basis.
He should have been ejected for being a colossal douche and putting his hands on Gomes. I hate Gomez, but, sheesh, McCann laying hands on another player should have made him ejected automatically.
Cuz he white
@@texas3258 Freeman is white...he was ejected. Comment debunked...you're a douchebag.
The story: Earlier in the season, Maholm hit Gomez with a pitch in a game back in May. So Gomez was amped up every time he faced Maholm since. The issue isn't so much the fact he admired anything. I watched the Braves broadcast of this, and they repeatedly showed him talking shit to Maholm from the moment he stepped out of the batter's box.
AnEternalEnigma Still though, it's very rare for there to be an clearing of the benches 'cause of a homerun. It's a poor example of sportsmanship for the sport.
AnEternalEnigma Add in McCann being the jackass that he is.
Gomez hit the hr so of course the benches will clear
AnEternalEnigma Did the run count?
AnEternalEnigma It seems like Mccann does this often. He also did this with José Fernandez. He comes across as a poor loser.

DestroyerOfWorlds im a dodgers fan but i never said i like puig. where did you hear that? actually i hate puig he acts like a child
Ethan Ninness Freeman usually isn't like that.
Ethan Ninness Hhaha im so sure....did you see the first pitch of that at bat?? Gomez swung for the fences and looking like a fucking bafoon like he always does...Gomez is always known for starting shit like this with his spastic cocky attitude....McCann, Maholm, Freeman, and Johnson understand those unwritten rules. Carlos Gomez has caused more bench clearing brawls and disagreements than all four of them put together...obviously you don't watch much of what goes on in the league....never have i ever seen someone hold a grudge halfway through a season and come out swinging in the first pitch and second pitch of the game like a spastic high-schooler in a pick up home run derby. Unreal.
McCann did what’s right, it’s a catchers job to stand up for their pitcher. Gomez disrespected his pitcher
@@litasills293 that same pitcher hit Gomez in a previous game. Gomez didn't charge the mound. He got even at the plate.
I really do not understand this fight? What did Gomez do wrong? All he did was hit a homerun and the Braves got all pissy faced about it.
He was being an idiot, that's what he did wrong
Estevan De La O How was he being an idiot?
ChicagoSports2K Supposedly he was breaking the "unwritten rules of conduct" for baseball players. Since I guess baseball players aren't allowed to celebrate big plays, or something. Then again, the Braves, and McCann takes things personally like this.
bigjames02 Thanks for telling me.
roid rage?
McCann respects the game so much he won’t even let anyone step on home plate.
Mccann always starts crap like this. Some players take the "unwritten rules" too seriously.
Dylan MacKinnon Did you not see him jawing the pitcher before he reached the halfway point to first then freeman stared at him?
No one said Gomez isn't an ass, just pointing out this happens all the time with McCann.
Spartan John-G172 Did you not hear McCann and the pitcher yelling at Gomez before Gomez responded back?
soulierpaul
No I saw gomez barking at the pitcher before he was half way to first.
After the pitcher, McCann, and Freemon were barking at him.
Babe Ruth used to call his shots by pointing to exactly where he was going to hit his home runs! Some cheered, some booed him, but he made the game fun to watch. These rules are taking the fun out of the game. What is wrong with watching the ball fly out of the park? It's just part of the fun.
I think Babe Ruth only did it that infamous one time(don´t quote me on this one), but I believe your point still stands. Perhaps he yelled something that Brave players didn´t appreciate.

at the end of the video it showed that the pitcher and hitter had some kind of altercation before. who knows lol
Not an official rule.
That’s not why their mad here, this dude was talking shot around the whole base path

McCann and Freeman are little girls. I love baseball, and it’s my favorite sport. Why can’t a hitter flip his bat and watch, yet a pitcher can do whatever the hell he wants if he gets that crucial 3rd out to get out of a jam?
How tf u gonna be salty that someone watched a home run? I would sit there for years and crack a cold one if I hit one. The pitcher shoulda thrown a better pitch if they didn’t want it to happen
Matt M I know more than u
So the issue isn't acting without class and unprofessionally (watching the homerun), the problem is when a batter has to pay for that.
Got it.
i've seen the braves cry like this a few times after they get a home run hit on them...they've been a bunch a babies since they went stale in '05
Bitches don't play for OUR Atlanta Braves..get it right..
You're right. Only bedwetters and crybabies apparently.
McCann is such a baby he complains about everything like when Fernandez had his 1st cAreer home run he just took a peak at it and it started a brawl
Fernandez didn't take a peak he stared at it almost until it landed
Prince Vegeta who cares, it was his first homerun....who gives a fuck
Also I'm a mets fan AND I HATE THE MARLINS AND BRAVES
And, McCann can just suck it up and play the freaking ball game
Foxy the Pirate fox look gomez hit alot if homeruns in his career and just standing and watching a homerun is uncalled for, fernandez, was his first career homerun so that was completely understandable plus he's unhittable
McCann even peeks at his home runs these days
How in God's name was McCann allowed to stay in that game? He literally motivated the bat flip, provoked Gomez with the first words, and literally blocked the base path of an active runner to initiate a physical confrontation, then proceeded to shove an opposing player.. But Gomez is ejected for what, getting angry, being confronted, and then being shoved?
If Gomez had started the fight it would have been his fault, but the fight started because McCann was blocking home plate, he kept Gomez from scoring, and disrupted the game which was worst than anything Gomez did.
For some reason people seem to think what Gomez did is 100x worse than what McCann did. Funny how the world works, I bet if the ethnicity of the players where reversed (white guy hits hommer and watches from home plate, hispanic gets mad and blocks home plate) then everyone would still defend McCann. Thats just how it works.
jeanious2009 welcome to America
jeanious2009 your an idiot...another person crying race card...loser...its people like you to pull that crap...home run or not you run the bases don't...it called be a poor sport...but then again we have people like you to say it has to do with race...makes you sound racist

Both were being bad sports. Plain and simple.
How you eject Freeman but leave McCann? That literally makes no sense. Umpires never get it right.
No one can defend McCann and the braves. He started talking right when gomez got up their. Very week on the Braves part
Some say that the home plate umpire is still to this day waiting for Gomez to touch the plate
Freddie is a very cool, collected person and I have never seen him that angry at someone.
there's like 100 people in the stands

+AM Keefer McCann should be worrying about other things ... like his non-hitting.
+AM Keefer no McCann is just a dick .
+AM Keefer What was he supposed to do? If you walk around the bases you're showing them up. If you jog you're being cocky and showing them up. If you sprint you're showing them up. If you so much as stand in the batter's box for more than 0.0001 seconds after impact with the ball you're showing them up.
I guess the simple answer is: Don't hit a home run.
Until I see a written rule that says you can't watch a homer and that you can't talk trash, I blame the Braves fully
Catcher should've been tossed for blocking the plate without ball.
Exactly: interference.
Idiot - it was a home run. There is no play at the plate to begin with
@@Mox3712 precisely, but to impede the runner from reaching the base for any reason but a play(HR), that player can be tossed out by the umpire for starting a (fight).
@@markgarduno4597yes I know the rule you are speaking of but I can't ever remember seeing it enforced. With that being said I feel pretty sure the reason McCann wasn't tossed is because of what Gomez did. At least that's my view....
Gomez should push McCann out his way to score.
He's the friendliest first baseman ;]
If you don’t want a hitter to watch his home run than the pitcher should do his job
You are correct
He was out of line blocking the plate. He could have caused a worse brawl
Months before this game Paul Maholm struck Gomez with a pitch in Milwaukee, it wasn't intentionally, but Gomez thought it was. Gomez held that grudge for months. In this game Gomez swings at the first pitch then stares down Maholm for some odd reason. When Gomez hits the homer he loudly grunts as if to say "that's payback for hitting me months ago" so he stands and watches the ball and slowly trot around the bases. He starts talking shit to Maholm, Freeman and Maholm some more. Then when gets to home plate Brian gets in his way and they start arguing. Gomez was the asshole in this game, he held a grudge for months against a guy that accidentally hit him. Mccann was just standing up for his teammates, that's what a catcher should do. it's not about Gomez watching the homerun, it's about how the way he acted towards the pitcher.
Ah, finally, a factual back story.
Did his home run counted?
Baseball needs more of this
Wasn't this in 2013 before the Posey rule? Just run full speed at him and drill him, touch home plate, walk to the dugout while counting how many fans are in attendance.
Even though Gomez never touched home the run counted because McCann obstructed him .
I love seeing videos of brawls with the Braves bc Terry Pendleton is always right in the middle! Love ya TP ...
Oh my god he watched a homerun! The horror!
Ya like he’s never hit one before!!
McCann should have been thrown out as soon as he went up the baseline to block or prevent Gomez from touching the plate, regardless of what Gomez did after hitting the homerun. Gomez should not have been thrown out of the game. He had a right to complete the homegrun.he hit which he was prevented from doing by McCann and to also defend himself from the opposing players on the Braves as they were the ones (especially Freeman) who hit him first as he was attempting to complete the homerun he hit. On the other hand, Gomez should have punched McCann straight in his face as soon as he seen him blocking the baseline. It would have then justified him (Gomez) being ejected from the game which he should not have been.
I love Gomez! One of my favorite Brewers ever!
Gomez should have rounded 3rd and ran over the catcher blocking his way to the plate.
I was thinking the same thing,..run McCann over!

Baby Braves fight Gomez because of a home-run, what a disgrace.
Announcers are overly concerned about whether gomez will touch the plate. This was PROBABLY interference on McCann boys.
"You hit me(previously), I hit you." Love this guy.
2015 still has not touched home plate.
Why did Gomez get tossed? For defending himself? Should he have just let Braves players take swings at him?
First time I have ever seen freeman mad
Only time you'll ever see it
I didn't understand this. What reason did McCann have to get into Gomez face like that.
Gomez was showboating.....in the first inning.
AngrySmurf yeah cuz he hit a fricking shot
Evan Mansfield It's part of the unwritten rules of baseball.
This isn't the first time McCann has gotten in a batters face for no reason. He got in Bryce Harpers face after Harper was drilled in the leg by a fastball. Yea Harper was mouthing off at the pitcher but never made one move toward the pitchers mound. IMO McCann is just a asshole.
There is a History between Maholm and Gomez. Maholm had hit him a number of times in the past. So after taking Paul deep, he mouthed off to the Pitcher. Freddie Freeman got upset that the was showing up the pitcher. McCann did too. Gomez being a hot head made it all just get out of control.
McCann has a history of sticking up for his pitcher. he's a bit of a jerk about it but his pitchers love that about him.
Really classy Atlanta
As a yanks fan gotta admit Mccan gets jealous af.
I'm a Yankee fan and McCan sucks
MrGold yea Mccan all he did was stick up for his teammate. So wrong of him to do 🙄
It's called taking up for a team mate.
McCann never belonged in pinstripes.
@@etchedinstone7562 Nobody does
Turner Field looking quite... empty...

Or maybe because its losing popularity. Kids aren't growing up with Baseball anymore. America is changing the kids nowadays play Football, Basketball and Soccer.
The old generation that grew up with Baseball are the people holding its up financially on corporate level and with fans tv money and tickets but when that generation dies in the next 25 years Baseball will basically be a small sport.
Football is #1, #2 Basketball (+ soccer) has stolen allot of popularity in the last 20 years from baseball with that generation and the current generation and kids are going to become people that will support Football,Basketball and Soccer with there money and support. Next to Basketball Soccer is the sport that is growing and winning popularity and the sport that is on the rise with the kids and youth today and its becoming a more important sport in America with each passing year.
When the current generation will take over from the old that is the moment Baseball will have a huge decline. People arent talking about Baseball like they did 10/20/30 years ago, almost nobody knows the players or can name 5 mlb teams.
Its sad but its something that is already starting and will become a stronger reality.
Ysn McAoui You got all that drivel from just an empty ballpark? It's still the number two most popular sport in America FYI. Also you have to take in account this was near the end of the season. Check the date. It was sold out during the NLDS couple weeks later. And soccer won't ever become popular. 90 mins of fruitcakes in shorts jogging back and forth ending in 0-0. Yeah no thanks.
Dirk Reurslag funnily enough... I live in England... where the fruitcakes in shorts sport is massively popular...
And I don't like it one bit.
yosmosonic Why do you think they are building a New Stadium outside of Atlanta??????
Ysn McAoui baseball is #2 in terms of viewership. in terms of playing on the streets, yeah basketball is more popular. probably has a lot to do with the fact that the only way to play baseball these days is that little league idiocy that costs a fortune to register
Don't give up a bomb & be upset a dude took it deep. Dude crushed it, let him enjoy it lol
1:20 The look on his face is priceless, reminds me of a parent dragging their 2 year old away while their throwing a tantrum!!
Gomez watched the homerun. That’s what set the whole thing off.
Those poor, poor egos
So did they count the home run or not?
Yes... I believe they did count the the home run... I believe this falls under baseball's "OBSTRUCTION RULE"... and according to the rule, the umpire is supposed to award the offensive player the base he thinks the offensive player would have reached had the offensive player not been "hindered/impeded" by the actions of the defensive player... ...I really think there's little doubt this was the case....
***** In 94 Mike Piazza hit a grand slam and a brawl stopped him from touching home, they didn't count the run. So yeah, sometimes it matters.
***** you said you didn't understand, now you do.
Damn dude why are you so confrontational?
Donnie Bryant Sir, we're not 20 years in the past
Baseball players seem overly sensitive about the most trivial things sometimes. Get the guy out if you don't want him to admire his home run!
You obviously didn't see the game or know the history of these two. Only admiring the HR wouldn't have caused all this. It was Gomez yelling at Maholm that started it.
Gomez should’ve dropped the shoulder and lowered the boom like a 4th and 1 run.
Yes, I'd have loved to see McCann drive his stupid @$$ into the dirt!
Baseball is a violent sport nowadays.
I like that manly gut sound after Gomez makes contact
Whenever someone on another team hits a homerun against the braves freshmen is always upset
At 2:30, the announcers are not being honest. Batter was "jawing" first at 2:30.
I always loved it when the defense got salty over something like that. If you hate, just don't allow a homerun. Simple as that.
That's my catcher. Thanks for the memories, BMac. #chopon
I sure have seen a lot of videos by MLB with the words "Benches clear" and "Carlos Gomez" haha
