    No matter if you love or hate the Dodgers (most of us are in the category of the latter), you MUST love Vin Scully. He was not only a legend, but told it like it was. No one told stories like Vin.

    Cox never deserved to get ejected unfairly like what just happened here and even I don’t blame him for receiving more than 150 ejections throughout his entire career.

    2nd base umpire didn't get the call wrong--he initially called out, THEN realized that ball 4 had been issued to the batter. He had no choice but to reverse his own call to safe. Had there not been a base on balls, there would've been an out at 2nd. Only one umpire screwed this one up--the home plate blue.

    Vin Scully was an idiot. The home plate umpire is the only one that made a bad call/decision. Idk why he let the batter go to first after calling him out on strikes.

    • @jh.4770
      @jh.4770 7 місяців тому

      I watched this entire game live. Vin Scully corrected himself on this an inning later.
      They showed the replay again in the next inning, and he said Chuck Merriweather called the runner out because he saw the home plate umpire call a strike.

  • @garygemmell3488

    This is why Vin Scully was so beloved by fans, most especially Dodger fans. No matter what, he called things based on what he saw, not who was paying him. Unlike a few of the home team announcers around the league.

    You can't really blame the 2nd base umpire. It's not his fault that his call got reversed. He thought that a strike was called. I think Jair Jurjens got ejected in this game also.

    This is what us fellow umpires call the infamous Stee-ball. We've all done it. Gesture strike and say ball. Unfortunately it happened in this situation. One of Cox's rare justified ejections. BTW the second base ump did nothing wrong. He thought it was called a strike also and acted accordingly. Would you rather he made no call wondering what the pitch was?

    • @jh.4770
      @jh.4770 7 років тому +1

      yeah Vin Scully recanted on his comments regarding the 2nd base umpire the next inning. As they showed the replay in the next inning, Scully pointed out that the 2nd base umpire actually looked at the plate umpire before he made the out call, and thought it was a strike at the plate

  • @MrOrigi

    The problem here is that the home plate umpire called it a strike with a hand gesture and then changed his mind. You can't do that. I hope Chris Cooper learned something here. The 2nd base umpire got the call right, Furcal was out, but he can't do anything about the incompetence of the home plate umpire. Once he changed his mind and called the pitch a ball, Furcal is automatically safe.
